The effects of microstructure on the optical properties of La0.4Sr0.6TiO3 thin films were investigated. Dense films with the thickness of ∼200 nm and grain size 14–30 nm were produced on monocrystalline sapphire substrates by using a polymeric precursor spin coating technique at annealing temperatures under 800°C. X-ray data showed the formation of a single-phase cubic perovskite-type structure similar to undoped SrTiO3 for annealing temperatures >500°C. The results of optical measurements showed that the optical spectra varied with the change of the grain size. From these data, the absorption coefficients were calculated and the band gap energy determined. In agreement with the quantum confinement model, it was shown that the band gap energy increased as the grain size decreased.  相似文献

The microstructural evolution and grain-boundary influence on electrical properties of Ce0.90Gd0.10O1.95 were studied. The nanoscale powders synthesized from a semibatch reactor exhibited 50% green density and 92% sintering density at 1200°C (∼200°C lower than previous studies). Impedance spectra as a function of temperature and grain size were analyzed. The Ce0.90Gd0.10O1.95 with finest grain size possessed highest overall grain-boundary resistance; this contribution was eliminated at temperatures >600°C, regardless of grain size. The grain conductivity was independent of grain size and was dependent on temperature with two distinct regimes, indicative of the presence of Gd'Ce− V o∘∘ complexes that dissociated at a critical temperature of ∼580°C. The activation energy for complex dissociation was ∼0.1 eV; the value for the grain-boundary was ∼1.2eV, which was size independent.  相似文献

Al2O3-ZrO2 eutectics containing 0 to 12.2 mol% Y2O3 (with respect to zirconia) were produced by directional solidification using the laser floating zone (LFZ) method. Processing variables were chosen to obtain homogeneous, colony-free, interpenetrating microstructure for all of the compositional range, optimum from the viewpoint of mechanical properties. The amount of cubic, tetragonal, or monoclinic zirconia phases was determined using a combination of Raman and X-ray diffraction techniques. Monoclinic zirconia was present up to concentrations of 3 mol% Y2O3, while the amount of tetragonal zirconia gradually increased with yttria content up to 3 mol%. Cubic zirconia was the only phase detected when the yttria content reached 12 mol%. The residual stresses in alumina were measured using the shift of the ruby R lines. Compressive stresses were isotropic when measured in the samples containing tetragonal and cubic zirconia, while higher tensile, anisotropic stresses were found when monoclinic zirconia was present. They were partially relieved in the eutectic sample without yttria. These results were compared with a thermoelastic analysis based on the self-consistent model.  相似文献

Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency Type II (LAD II) is a recently described syndrome and the two patients with this defect lack fucosylated glycoconjugates. These glycoconjugates include the selectin ligand, sialyl LewisX, and various fucosylated blood group antigens. To date, the molecular anomaly in these patients has not been identified. We localized the defect in LAD II to the de novo pathway of GDP-fucose biosynthesis, by inducing cell-surface expression of fucosylated glycoconjugates after exposure of lymphoblastoid cell lines from the LAD II patients to exogenous fucose. This defect is not restricted to hematopoietic cells, since similar findings were elicited in both human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and fibroblasts derived from an affected abortus. We have used these LAD II endothelial cells to examine the consequence of fucosylation of endothelial cells on the rolling of normal neutrophils in an in vitro assay. Neutrophil rolling on LPS-treated normal and LAD II HUVEC was inhibited by an E-selectin monoclonal antibody at both high and low shear rates. LAD II HUVEC lacking fucosylated glycoproteins supported leukocyte rolling to a similar degree as normal HUVEC or LAD II cells that were fucose-fed. At low shear rates, an L-selectin antibody inhibited neutrophil rolling to a similar degree whether the LAD II cells had been fucose-fed or not. These findings suggest that fucosylation of nonlymphoid endothelial cells does not play a major role in neutrophil rolling and that fucose is not a critical moiety on the L-selectin ligand(s) on endothelial cells of the systemic vasculature.  相似文献

We show that homothorax (hth) is required for the Hox genes to pattern the body of the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. hth is necessary for the nuclear localization of an essential HOX cofactor, Extradenticle (EXD), and encodes a homeodomain protein that shares extensive identity with the product of Meis1, a murine proto-oncogene. MEIS1 is able to rescue hth mutant phenotypes and can induce the cytoplasmic-to-nuclear translocation of EXD in cell culture and Drosophila embryos. Thus, Meis1 is a murine homolog of hth. MEIS1/HTH also specifically binds to EXD with high affinity in vitro. These data suggest a novel and evolutionarily conserved mechanism for regulating HOX activity in which a direct protein-protein interaction between EXD and HTH results in EXD's nuclear translocation.  相似文献

The surface profile which develops in the vicinity of a grain boundary precipitate in the course of evaporation is calculated. It is shown that the presence of the grain boundary precipitate affects the profile significantly if the product of the width of the grain boundary precipitate and the ratio of the evaporation rates of the unperturbed surface and the grain boundary precipitate is larger than one.  相似文献
