Ion implantation is shown to be able to shorten the carrier lifetime in semi-insulating GaAs independent of the ion species. Although ion implantation alone may shorten the lifetime to the order of femtoseconds, to obtain good resistivity and mobility an annealing process is required. Furthermore, chemically active ions may complicate the recovery of resistivity, such as Si which may be activated as dopants during annealing or O which creates additional deep levels. Optimum annealing temperature was determined to be around 600°C with carrier lifetime still in the picosecond range but with mobility ~2000 cm2V.s. In this paper, recent results controling nonlinear systems with output tracking error constraints are applied to the design of new tracking controllers for magnetic bearings. The proposed controllers can force the rotor to track a bounded and sufficiently smooth refer-ence trajectory asymptotically and guarantee non-contactedness be-tween the rotor and the stator of the magnetic bearings. We investigate the fabrication of periodic square arrays of solid gold islands by angle-resolved nanosphere lithography (ARNSL) in conjunction with thermal evaporation and etching. By varying θ (the tilt angle between the direction of gold deposition beam and the substrate surface normal) and ? (the substrate rotation angle about the beam axis), adjacent islands on a deposited hexagonal gold array will have a constant and periodic difference in height. Upon etching, this height bias will result in the shorter structures being removed to produce an array with a different symmetry from the original hexagonal symmetry of the parent mask. By depositing at three directions of ? = 0°, 120° and −120° with a constant θ = 20°, experimental results show that deposited two-dimensional gold periodic arrays will have a measurable difference in height between adjacent islands. Etching of the resulting patterns produced periodic near-square arrays with triangular nanostructures. Thus the combination of ARNSL and etching can allow selective periodic nanostructures to be removed, increasing the diversity of array symmetries available through nanosphere lithography. 相似文献

A new double-echo half-Fourier single-shot turbo spin echo technique has been implemented in which two images are obtained
per excitation pulse, one with an echo time (TE) of 60 ms and another with a TE of 438 ms. The acquisition window per image
is 380 ms and is determined by the echo spacing of 4.3 ms and the echo train length of 88 for images with resolution of 160×256.
No breath holding was performed. The aim of the study was to test whether the additional information of the late TE image
improves the characterization of liver lesions. Twenty-eight patients with 39 focal liver lesions (9 cysts, 11 hemangiomas,
and 19 solid lesions) were imaged with the new technique, and signal intensity (SI) ratios of lesion and liver were obtained.
At-test analysis showed that in the TE 60 ms image, SI ratios of cysts and hemangiomas were not significantly different, whereas
in the TE 438 ms images the two types of lesions can be classified. Signal intensity ratios of solid lesions were in both
images clearly lower than those of cysts and hemangiomas. The technique, therefore, seems a promising and straightforward

Alkali-earth metaniobate compounds, ANb2O6 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba), were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction route and their electronic band structures and photocatalytic activities were investigated. The prepared powders were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission electron microscopy (FE-SEM), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy. It was found that the particle sizes (∼1 μm) and BET surface areas (∼1 m2/g) of the metaniobate compounds were nearly identical. From the electronic band structure calculations, however, the band-gap energies of these metaniobate compounds were found to be in the order of CaNb2O6 > SrNb2O6 > BaNb2O6. These calculated band-gap energies were consistent with those estimated from the UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra. Moreover, the conduction-band edge (reduction potential) of SrNb2O6 calculated from the electronegativity data was higher than those of CaNb2O6 and BaNb2O6. The photoluminescence spectra revealed that CaNb2O6 exhibited a strong blue luminescence emission (at 300K), while no obvious emissions were observed in either SrNb2O6 or BaNb2O6. The luminescence behaviors of these metaniobate compounds and their band structure variations originating from their crystal structures play an important role in their photocatalytic activity for the evolution of H2 from pure water. Mature seeds of the inged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) are toxic to developing larvae of a range of cosmopolitan storage Bruchidae of economic importance, including the copea seed eevil, Callosobruchus maculatus. Insect feeding trials ere carried out in hich protein fractions from seeds of inged bean ere incorporated at a range of concentrations into artificial seeds, and their effects upon development of C maculatus determined. Both albumin and globulin fractions ere toxic to the developing larvae and their toxicity correlated ith their haemagglutinating activity. Assay of Psophocarpin A, B and C fractions demonstrated Psophocarpin B to be the most insecticidal and to contain the highest haemagglutinating activity. Purified basic seed lectin as highly insecticidal to C maculatus larvae, ith an LC50 value of c. 3·5 g kg?1. The physiological level of this protein in inged bean seeds is sufficient to account for their resistance to attack by C maculatus. inged bean trypsin inhibitor as also purified and tested in artificial seeds against C maculatus. Bos indicus bulls 20 months of age grazed on pasture in Minas Gerais, Brazil either received 2 doses of the GnRF vaccine Bopriva at d0 and d91 (group IC, n = 144) or were surgically castrated on d91 (group SC, n = 144). Slaughter on d280, was 27 weeks after castration. Adverse safety issues in 8% of group SC bulls following surgery contrasted with 0% in group IC bulls. At d105 testosterone levels were suppressed to similar levels in both groups. Importantly, group IC bulls had higher live weight, hot carcass weight, ADG (P < 0.005) and dressing percentage (P < 0.0001) compared to group SC animals. There were no negative effects on carcass or meat quality traits, thus immunocastration was concluded to offer a safe and effective method that provides production gains, and improves animal welfare in Bos indicus beef bulls without impacting meat and carcass quality. 相似文献
