We report on a novel sensor for characterization of nanoparticles colloidal suspensions. We employ a diffraction grating under total internal reflection for investigation of nanodisperse fluids passing through an integrated microfluidic channel. Dispersions containing polymeric, metallic, and ferromagnetic nanoparticles are studied. Using this device, we can accurately determine in real-time the specific refractive index for the nanoparticle suspension and the nanoparticle concentration. The nanoparticle concentrations can be calculated with a resolution of 0.3-0.5 wt% for polymeric nanoparticles, 0.03-0.05 wt% for metallic nanoparticles, and 0.05-0.1 wt% for ferromagnetic nanoparticles. This translates to an effective refractive index that can be determined with an accuracy of 7 x 10(-4) for the polymeric and 2 x 10(-4) for the metallic and ferromagnetic dispersions.  相似文献

We present a novel minimally invasive postprocessing method for catalyst templating based on focused charged particle beam structuring, which enables a localized vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) growth of individual nanowires on prefabricated three-dimensional micro- and nanostructures. Gas-assisted focused electron beam induced deposition (FEBID) was used to deposit a SiO(x) surface layer of about 10 × 10 μm(2) on top of a silicon atomic force microscopy cantilever. Gallium focused ion beam (FIB) milling was used to make a hole through the SiO(x) layer into the underlying silicon. The hole was locally filled with a gold catalyst via FEBID using either Me(2)Au(tfac) or Me(2)Au(acac) as precursor. Subsequent chemical vapor deposition (CVD)-induced VLS growth using a mixture of SiH(4) and Ar resulted in individual high quality crystalline nanowires. The process, its yield, and the resulting angular distribution/crystal orientation of the silicon nanowires are discussed. The presented combined FIB/FEBID/CVD-VLS process is currently the only proven method that enables the growth of individual monocrystalline Si nanowires on prestructured substrates and devices.  相似文献

In inventory control and production planning one is tempted to use one of two strategies: produce all demand to stock or produce all demand to order. The disadvantages are well-known. In the make everything to order case (MTO) the response times may become quite long if the load is high, in the make everything to stock case (MTS) one gets an enormous inventory if the number of different products is large.In this paper we study two simple models which combine MTO and MTS, and investigate the effect of combining MTO and MTS on the production lead times.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of assessing the quality of an a posteriori error estimate of a finite element solution. An error estimate based on local L2-projections is analysed in the case of translation-invariant meshes. It is shown that for general meshes this technique does not lead to an asymptotically exact estimator. The problem is analysed in detail in the one-dimensional setting. It is shown that an asymptotically exact estimator is not the optimal one when the solution is not sufficiently smooth. An optimal estimator for adaptively constructed meshes is given. Finally, a general mathematical framework for the quality assessment of estimators is introduced.  相似文献

In this article, the role of the restoring stiffness, as one of the basic parameters in ship hydroelastic analysis, is brought out. It is formulated using the variational principle and the method of virtual displacements. It is shown that asymmetry of the restoring stiffness is a physical reality. Moreover, it is confirmed that modal variation, still disputed in the relevant literature, has to be taken into account to satisfy the ship’s stability. Consistent stiffness is formulated here by regarding stiffness definition as relation between forces and displacements. Hybrid stiffness known from the literature is wrong since some terms are specified as relation between forces and displacement gradient. Influence of the consistent and symmetrized stiffness matrix, and the hybrid one, on dynamic response is illustrated for a prismatic pontoon and a large container ship. It is found that the latter two matrices do not assure convergence of transfer functions of sectional forces to zero value as the wave frequency approaches zero. The rigid body and elastic responses are compared, and pertinent conclusions are drawn. It is also shown that it is not necessary to use the unified geometric and restoring stiffness for ordinary hydroelastic analysis of ship structures. The consistent formulation of the restoring stiffness matrix will be useful for extending linear potential theory hydrodynamic codes for rigid body analysis to deformable bodies.  相似文献

Die vorliegende Arbeit berichtet über Ergebnisse von Warmtorsionsversuchen, aus denen der Grenzumformgrad als Funktion von Temperatur und Umformgeschwindigkeit ermittelt wurde. Die Versuche wurden an den Stählen X 10 CrNiTi 18 9, 10 CrMo 9 10, X 10 CrNiMoTi 18 12, X 20 CrMoV 12 1 und X 2 NiCrNb 25 18 durchgeführt.  相似文献

Flood events demonstrate devastating effects not only on materials and structures in contact with flowing surface water. Equally important is the behavior of foundations in interaction with subsoil. This contribution gives an overview of different phenomena which arise in subsoil and at the foundation level during the groundwater rise accompanied by several case histories related to cultural heritage. Process models are used to formulate knowledge about process behaviour. They are applied, e.g., to predict the process' future behaviour and for state estimation when reliable on-line measuring techniques to monitor the key variables of the process are not available. There are different sources of information available for modelling, which provide process knowledge in different representations. Some elements or aspects may be described by physically based mathematical models and others by heuristically obtained rules of thumb, while some information may still be hidden in the process data recorded during previous runs of the process. Heuristic rules are conveniently processed with fuzzy expert systems, while artificial neural networks present themselves as a powerful tool for uncovering the information within the process data without the need to transform the information into one of the other representations. Artificial neural networks and fuzzy technology are increasingly being employed for modelling biotechnological processes, thus extending the traditional way of process modelling by mathematical equations. However, a sufficiently comprehensive combination of all these techniques has not yet been put forward. Here, we present a simple way of combining all the available knowledge relating to a given process. In a case study, we demonstrate the development of a hybrid model for state estimation and prediction on the example of a yeast production process. The model was validated during a cultivation performed in a standard pilot-scale fermenter.  相似文献
