Presented in this paper are the theoretical aspects of node addition to a non-convex, multiboundary mesh of tetrahedral elements as used in finite element modelling. The method used is derived from Watson1 and Shenton and Cendes2 and is extended to deal with node addition on inter-material boundaries. Several situations are identified that result in an illegal insertion polyhedron (IP), these could be caused by the ‘constrained’ nature of the mesh, adjacent objects with different material properties, or degenerate node configurations. A new Delaunay algorithm is described that checks for illegal cases of the IP and then corrects them, this checking relies on the consistent ordering of the element nodes. It is shown that a particular type of illegal IP can easily be identified and corrected using this technique. The Delaunay algorithm is then applied to automatic mesh generation, and modification to the basic Delaunay algorithm is described so that previously meshed edges and faces of the current object being meshed are not deleted during the addition of subsequent nodes. This ‘protection’ method only becomes viable by recognizing the node ordering sense of the IP faces.  相似文献

A bound for a Minkowski metric based on Lp distortion measure is proposed and evaluated as a means to reduce the computation in vector quantisation. This bound provides a better criterion than the absolute error inequality (AEI) elimination rule on the Euclidean distortion measure. For the Minkowski metric of order n, this bound contributes the elimination criterion from the L1 metric to L n metric. This bound can also be an extended quadratic metric which can be a hidden Markov model (HMM) with a Gaussian mixture probability density function (PDF). OBJECTIVE: To study the pathogenesis of aseptic loosening: in particular, to determine whether macrophages responding to particles of biomaterials commonly used in arthroplasty surgery for arthritis are capable of differentiating into osteoclastic bone resorbing cells, and the cellular and hormonal conditions required for this to occur. METHODS: Biomaterial particles (polymethylmethacrylate, high density polyethylene, titanium, chromium-cobalt, stainless steel) were implanted subcutaneously into mice. Macrophages were isolated from the foreign body granulomas that resulted, cultured on bone slices and coverslips, and assessed for both cytochemical and functional evidence of osteoclast differentiation. RESULTS: Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) negative macrophages isolated from granulomas containing particles of all types of biomaterial composition were capable of differentiating into TRAP positive cells capable of extensive lacunar bone resorption (assessed by scanning electron microscopy). The presence of both UMR106 rat osteoblast-like cells and 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D3 was necessary for this to occur. CONCLUSION: All implant materials produce wear particles that are the focus of a heavy foreign body macrophage response in the fibrous membrane between a loose implant component and the host bone undergoing resorption. These findings underline the importance of biomaterial wear particle generation and the macrophage response to different types of biomaterial wear particles in the pathogenesis of aseptic loosening.  相似文献

A multi-cluster, multi-hop packet radio network architecture for wireless adaptive mobile information systems is presented. The proposed network supports multimedia traffic and relies on both time division and code division access schemes. This radio network is not supported by a wired infrastructure as conventional cellular systems are. Thus, it can be instantly deployed in areas with no infrastructure at all. By using a distributed clustering algorithm, nodes are organized into clusters. The clusterheads act as local coordinators to resolve channel scheduling, perform power measurement/control, maintain time division frame synchronization, and enhance the spatial reuse of time slots and codes. Moreover, to guarantee bandwidth for real time traffic, the architecture supports virtual circuits and allocates bandwidth to circuits at call setup time. The network is scalable to large numbers of nodes, and can handle mobility. Planetary aerobots are a new type of telerobotic science platform that can fly and navigate in a dynamic 3-dimensional atmospheric environment, thus enabling the global in situ exploration of planetary atmospheres and surfaces. Aerobots are enabled by a new concept in planetary balloon altitude control, developed at JPL, which employs reversible-fluid changes to permit repeated excursions in altitude. The essential physics and thermodynamics ofreversible-fluid altitude control have been demonstrated in a series of altitude-control experiments conducted in the Earth's atmosphere, which are described. Aerobot altitude-control technology will be important in the exploration of seven planets and satellites in our solar system. Three of these objects—Venus, Mars, and the Saturnian satellite Titan—have accessible solid surfaces and atmospheres dominated by the dense gases nitrogen or carbon dioxide. They will be explored with aerobots using helium or hydrogen as their primary means of buoyancy. The other four planets—Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune—have deep atmospheres that are predominantly hydrogen. It may be possible to explore these atmospheres with aerobots inflated with atmospheric gas that is then radiatively heated from the hotter gaseous depths below. To fulfill their potential, aerobots to explore the planets will need autonomous state estimators to guide their observations and provide information to the altitude-control systems. The techniques of acquiring these data remotely are outlined. Aerobots will also use on board altitude control and navigation systems to execute complex flight paths including descent to the surface and exploiting differential wind velocities to access different latitude belts. Approaches to control of these systems are examined. The application of aerobots to Venus exploration is explored in some detail: The most ambitious mission described, the Venus Flyer Robot (VFR), would have the capability to make repeated short excursions to the high-temperature surface environment of Venus to acquire data and then return to the Earth-like upper atmosphere to communicate and recool its electronic systems. Finally a Planetary Aerobot Testbed is discussed which will conduct Earth atmospheric flights to validate autonomous-state-estimator techniques and flight-path-control techniques needed for future planetary missions.  相似文献

The pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, clinical efficacy, adverse effects, and dosage and administration of torsemide are reviewed. Torsemide belongs to the pyridine-sulfonylurea class of loop diuretics. Its primary site of activity is the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle, where it blocks active reabsorption of sodium and chloride, resulting in diuresis, natriuresis, and other effects. Torsemide has high bioavailability, a relatively long half-life, and a prolonged duration of activity. It is highly protein bound. Clinical trials indicate that torsemide is effective in the treatment of hypertension and of edema and other symptoms in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF), hepatic dysfunction, or congestive heart failure (CHF). Torsemide has infrequent, mild, and transient adverse effects; among the most common are orthostatic hypotension, fatigue, dizziness, and nervousness. The recommended initial oral dosages of torsemide are 10-20 mg/day for CHF, 20 mg/day for CRF, 5 mg/day for hypertension, and 5-10 mg/day (in combination with a potassium-sparing diuretic or aldosterone antagonist) for hepatic cirrhosis. In most patients, the pharmacokinetic advantages of torsemide over other loop diuretics are unlikely to translate into a substantial edge in clinical outcomes, and in practice there may be no cost advantages. Although torsemide does not offer major advantages over other loop diuretics, it may be of benefit in patients who do not respond to or cannot tolerate other agents.  相似文献

Although some patterns of physical behavior are common in the glass transition and in the properties of supercooled liquids and glasses (characteristic viscoelasticity, temperature dependence of viscosity and relaxation times, property evolution through “physical aging”, difficulties in performing equilibrium measurements or simulations, etc.), it is difficult to arrive at a definition of the glass transition which distinguishes it from other phenomena exhibiting similar features. The present paper addresses this problem by defining a dynamical measure of order involving the average “shape” of particle trajectories in supercooled liquids. This dynamic order parameter should provide a measure of “closeness” to the glass transition and some indirect insights into the physical nature of supercooled liquids and glasses. Arguments are given that the proposed dynamic measure of order [“generalized capacity”, C(T)] is related to the temperature-dependent “effective hydrodynamic radius” RH(T) measured in supercooled liquids and model numerical calculations are given to support this view. Some consequences of the intermittent particle motion at low temperatures for stress relaxation are also discussed.  相似文献
