The vascular anatomy of the posterior tibial vessels has been studied in 20 legs of 10 cadavers. The number, size and distribution of the direct cutaneous and direct muscle branches of the posterior tibial vessels were recorded. For analysis, the leg was divided into four equal segments, Zone I being the most distal and Zone IV the most proximal. The direct cutaneous branches were found to cluster mainly around Zone II. The direct muscle branches to the soleus and flexor digitorum longus muscles arose chiefly in Zones II and III. Based on this knowledge, we performed fasciocutaneous, island soleus muscle, musculo-fasciocutaneous and flexor digitorum longus muscle flaps based on the posterior tibial vessels in 12 patients. Four were free fasciocutaneous flaps and eight were pedicled flaps. All flaps survived and there were no major complications. Delayed wound healing was encountered in three patients. 相似文献

The catalytic subunit of human DNA polymerase delta has been overexpressed in insect cells by a recombinant baculovirus. The recombinant protein has a Mr = approximately 125,000 and is recognized by polyclonal antisera against N-terminal and C-terminal peptides of the catalytic subunit of human DNA polymerase delta. The recombinant protein was purified to near homogeneity (approximately 1200-fold) from insect cells by chromatography on DEAE-cellulose, phosphocellulose, heparin-agarose, and single-stranded DNA-cellulose. The purified protein had both DNA polymerase and 3'-5' exonuclease activities. The properties of the recombinant catalytic subunit were compared with those of the native heterodimeric DNA polymerase delta isolated from fetal calf thymus, and the enzymes were found to differ in several respects. Although the native heterodimer is equally active with either Mn2+ or Mg2+ as divalent cation activator, the recombinant catalytic subunit is approximately 5-fold more active in Mn2+ than in Mg2+. The most striking difference between the two proteins is the response to the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). The activity and processivity of native DNA polymerase delta are markedly stimulated by PCNA whereas it has no effect on the recombinant catalytic subunit. An experimental study was conducted to better understand the mechanism of surface embrittlement in rubber-modified thermoplastics. Brittle polymer films were laminated onto acryionitnie-Duraaiene-styrene terpolymer and high-impact polystyrene to simulate either embrittlement due to environmental degradation or brittle paint systems. The effect of varying coating thickness and molecular weight was studied in tensile and impact testing. Results of this study suggest that the multiple crazing mechanism normally associated with the energy-absorbing capability of rubber-toughened polymers is severely restricted due to the formation of multiple surface cracks resulting from coating failure. This is particularly true when the coating thickness reaches a critical value at which a single surface crack is able to propagate across the coating/substrate interface in an unstable manner. 相似文献

Multiplex fluorescence in situ hybridization (M-FISH) is a recently developed technology that enables multi-color chromosome karyotyping for molecular cytogenetic analysis. Each M-FISH image set consists of a number of aligned images of the same chromosome specimen captured at different optical wavelength. This paper presents embedded M-FISH image coding (EMIC), where the foreground objects/chromosomes and the background objects/images are coded separately. We first apply critically sampled integer wavelet transforms to both the foreground and the background. We then use object-based bit-plane coding to compress each object and generate separate embedded bitstreams that allow continuous lossy-to-lossless compression of the foreground and the background. For efficient arithmetic coding of bit planes, we propose a method of designing an optimal context model that specifically exploits the statistical characteristics of M-FISH images in the wavelet domain. Our experiments show that EMIC achieves nearly twice as much compression as Lempel-Ziv-Welch coding. EMIC also performs much better than JPEG-LS and JPEG-2000 for lossless coding. The lossy performance of EMIC is significantly better than that of coding each M-FISH image with JPEG-2000. 相似文献
