PetaStar: a petabit photonic packet switch

This paper presents a new petabit photonic packet switch architecture, called PetaStar. Using a new multidimensional photonic multiplexing scheme that includes space, time, wavelength, and subcarrier domains, PetaStar is based on a three-stage Clos-network photonic switch fabric to provide scalable large-dimension switch interconnections with nanosecond reconfiguration speed. Packet buffering is implemented electronically at the input and output port controllers, allowing the central photonic switch fabric to transport high-speed optical signals without electrical-to-optical conversion. Optical time-division multiplexing technology further scales port speed beyond electronic speed up to 160 Gb/s to minimize the fiber connections. To solve output port contention and internal blocking in the three-stage Clos-network switch, we present a new matching scheme, called c-MAC, a concurrent matching algorithm for Clos-network switches. It is highly distributed such that the input-output matching and routing-path finding are concurrently performed by scheduling modules. One feasible architecture for the c-MAC scheme, where a crosspoint switch is used to provide the interconnections between the arbitration modules, is also proposed. With the c-MAC scheme, and an internal speedup of 1.5, PetaStar with a switch size of 6400 /spl times/ 6400 and total capacity of 1.024 petabit/s can be achieved at a throughput close to 100% under various traffic conditions.

Preparation and adsorption behavior of a cellulose‐based,mixed‐mode adsorbent with a benzylamine ligand for expanded bed applications

A novel mixed‐mode expanded bed adsorbent with anion‐exchange properties was explored with benzylamine as the functional ligand. The cellulose composite matrix, densified with stainless steel powder, was prepared with the method of water‐in‐oil suspension thermal regeneration. High activation levels of the cellulose matrix were obtained with allyl bromide because of the relative inertness of the allyl group under the conditions of the activation reaction. After the formation of the bromohydrin with N‐bromosuccinimide and coupling with benzylamine, the activated matrix was derived to function as a mixed‐mode adsorbent containing both hydrophobic and ionic groups. The protein adsorption capacity was investigated with bovine serum albumin as a model protein. The results indicated that the prepared adsorbent could bind bovine serum albumin with a high adsorption capacity, and it showed salt tolerance. Effective desorption was achieved by a pH adjustment across the isoelectric point of the protein. The interactions between the cell and adsorbent were studied, and the bioadhesion was shielded by the adjustment of the salt concentration above 0.1M. Stable fluidization in the expanded bed was obtained even in a 2% (dry weight) yeast suspension. The direct capture of target proteins from a biomass‐containing feedstock without extra dilution steps could be expected with the mixed‐mode adsorbent prepared in this work, and this would be especially appropriate for expanded bed adsorption applications. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Establishing a System for Food Recalls to Protect Food Quality and Safety in China

There are no explicit laws concerning food recalls in China; moreover, some related regulations have weaknesses. China should first create a system of laws and regulations governing food recalls, establish a system to recall defective food, and strengthen administrative and legal remedial mechanisms related to consumer rights.     

Low-Temperature Annealing Effect of RF Inductor With FeNi-SiO2 Granular Film

A low-temperature annealing process in vacuum is proposed to enhance the inductance of RF inductors with FeNi-SiO₂ magnetic granular films. Due to the great improvement of soft magnetic property in the 200degC and 350degC annealed film, the inductance is enhanced by 9.6% (200degC) and 8.3% (350degC), respectively, compared with the case of as-deposited film inductor. The peak value of quality factor, which is 9.18 for the as-deposited film inductor, is also increased to 9.27 (200degC ) and 12.27 (350degC), respectively.     

浅析改进的SET协议在电子商务中的作用

随着网络的发展，电子商务越来越引起人们的注意，如何保证传输数据的安全性成为电子商务能否普及的最重要因素之一。本文根据信息隔离和隐藏的原则改进了SET协议，改进后的SET协议允许持卡人参与帐目汇报，以及在电子商务中提供信用卡代理以便隐藏信用卡卡号。改进后的SET协议可有效对抗小范围内交易的机密侵密和大范围内的数据聚合。     

冷却水污垢及其对冷却器换热的影响

分析了冷却器的结垢机理 ,提出了冷却器污垢层、污垢热阻随运行时间的规律 ,以及污垢热阻与换热系数、换热面积的关系式 ,并通过算例阐述了污垢热阻对冷却器的影响程度 ,进而定性地分析了污垢热阻对空分装置的影响。     

添加VC的TiB2基硬质材料研究

对添加VC的TiB2基硬质材料进行了研究。通过实验测定了硬度、横向断裂强度、高温强度以及耐磨性等性能，通过观察SEM照片研究了VC对TiB2基硬质材料组织结构的影响。综合各种指标，我们确定在TiB2-Fe—Mo硬质材料中VC的最佳添加量为0．5％。
