A novel solventless adhesive bonding (SAB) process is reported, which is applicable to a wide range of materials including, but not limited to, poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS). The bonding is achieved through reactions between two complementary polymer coatings, poly(4-aminomethyl-p-xylylene-co-p-xylylene) and poly(4-formyl-p-xylylene-co-p-xylylene), which are prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) polymerization of the corresponding [2.2]paracyclophanes and can be deposited on complementary microfluidic units to be bonded. These CVD-based polymer films form well-adherent coatings on a range of different substrate materials including polymers, glass, silicon, metals, or paper and can be stored for extended periods prior to bonding without losing their bonding capability. Tensile stress data are measured on PDMS with various substrates and compared favorably to current methods such as oxygen plasma and UV/ozone. Sum frequency generation (SFG) has been used to probe the presence of amine and aldehyde groups on the surface after CVD polymerization and their conversion during bonding. In addition to bonding, unreacted functional groups present on the luminal surface of microfluidic channels provide free chemical groups for further surface modification. Fluorescently labeled molecules including rhodamine-conjugated streptavidin and atto-655 NHS ester were used to verify the presence of active functional groups on the luminal surfaces after bonding. 相似文献

We report the first direct capacitance measurements of silicon nanowires (SiNWs) and the consequent determination of field carrier mobilities in undoped-channel SiNW field-effect transistors (FETs) at room temperature. We employ a two-FET method for accurate extraction of the intrinsic channel resistance and intrinsic channel capacitance of the SiNWs. The devices used in this study were fabricated using a top-down method to create SiNW FETs with up to 1000 wires in parallel for increasing the raw capacitance while maintaining excellent control on device dimensions and series resistance. We found that, compared with the universal mobility curves for bulk silicon, the electron and hole mobilities in nanowires are comparable to those of the surface orientation that offers a lower mobility. 相似文献

The incorporation of gold nanoparticles in biodegradable polymeric nanostructures with controlled shape and size is of interest toward different applications in nanomedicine. Properties of the polymer such as drug loading and antibody functionalization can be combined with the plasmonic properties of gold nanoparticles, to yield advanced hybrid materials. This study presents a new way to synthesize multicompartmental microgels, fibers, or cylinders, with embedded anisotropic gold nanoparticles. Gold nanoparticles dispersed in an organic solvent can be embedded within the poly(lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) (PLGA) matrix of polymeric microstructures, when prepared via electrohydrodynamic co‐jetting. Prior functionalization of the plasmonic nanoparticles with Raman active molecules allows for imaging of the nanocomposites by surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) microscopy, thereby revealing nanoparticle distribution and photostability. These exceptionally stable hybrid materials, when used in combination with 3D SERS microscopy, offer new opportunities for bioimaging, in particular when long‐term monitoring is required. 相似文献

Poly(ε-caprolactone)/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PCL/PVP) scaffolds with various composition were fabricated from 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP) solution using the same electrospinning parameters in order to reveal the effect of polymer ratio on the material properties. The obtained materials were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, contact angle measurements, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy, and tensile testing. The strengthening effect of PVP was observed: Young modulus of PCL/PVP scaffold with 50/50 polymer ratio was found at 105.4 ± 8.4 MPa which is six times higher comparing to those of PCL scaffold. PVP-containing scaffolds were extremely hydrophilic with PVP concentration of 5 wt% (vs. 25 wt% in previous reports) leading to full wetting of the material. in vitro studies showed an improved viability of HeLa cells cultured with the composites containing higher concentrations of PVP. Owing to the application of HFIP, PCL-based materials were loaded with cyclophosphamide for the first time and the PVP-containing materials demonstrated the intensified initial release of the model compound. Utilizing HFIP for the fabrication of PCL/PVP scaffolds significantly widens their application for drug delivery systems due to a good solubility of proteins, drugs, and other biologically active compounds in this solvent. 相似文献

White etching crack (WEC) early bearing failures occur when the rolling contact is subjected to a so-called additional load such as an electrical current flowing through the bearing, in addition to the pure rolling load (pHz). Tests on rolling bearings showed that a low electrical direct current flow, such as that resulting from electrostatic charges, can lead to WEC failures in oil-lubricated roller bearings and greased ball bearings.
The WEC formation in the performed tests was dependent on the current, electrical polarity, load type (rotating or stationary ring load), and bearing load. A black oxidation of the WEC critical bearing ring led to a significant increase in lifetime. Based on the findings, the failure hypothesis “cathodic WEC fatigue” for electrical direct current-initiated WEC failures was established. 相似文献

Tickborne encephalitis, a zoonotic virus infection, is transmitted to humans usually by the bite of an infected tick. It may also be acquired by ingesting infected dairy products. In this study, the infectivity of tickborne encephalitis virus, suspended in milk and other media, remained unchanged during a period of five days of storage at 8 °C. After heat treatments in the range of 60 to 80 °C, a decrease of approximately 4 or 4.5 log units in the virus titre was observed.
