Syndrome of myxomas, spotty skin pigmentation, and endocrine overactivity (Carney complex)

Primary testicular neoplasms are common in dogs, but metastases to the testes are rare. Three dogs had enlargement of the testes and associated structures. Upon histological examination, the enlargements were due to metastatic adenocarcinomas. Further examination identified the gastrointestinal tract as the primary site of the metastatic neoplasms in all three cases. The testicular metastases reflected widespread metastatic disease. When metastatic adenocarcinoma is found in the testes and associated structures in dogs, the gastrointestinal tract should be examined closely for a primary tumor site.     

Soft physical vapour deposition coatings—a new coating family for high performance cutting tools

The joint effort of a cutting tool manufacturer and a coating specialist has led to the development of a cutting tool coating based on a soft solid lubricant (patents pending). It is applied by an advanced sputtering technique as a very thin uniform coating with a good adherence to the tools. It has a low coefficient of friction and a low affinity to alloy materials such as aluminium, titanium and precious metals. These factors and others allow machining at high spindle speeds and feed rates with an excellent workpiece surface finish. Values can be maintained which are far superior to even those permitted for cemented carbide tools. In some cases productivity and tool life can be increased by a factor of up to 20.     

Modernisierung des Datenschutzes: Vier Säulen des Datenschutzes

Auf Einladung des Innenausschusses des Deutschen Bundestages fand am 5. M?rz 2007 eine ?ffentliche Anh?rung zum Thema der Modernisierung des Datenschutzes statt. Gegenstand waren Entschlie?ungsantr?ge der Fraktionen der FDP sowie von Bündnis90/Die Grünen zum Datenschutzaudit sowie zum Scoring und zu Auskunftspflichten bei Datenschutzpannen. Stellung genommen hat für das Unabh?ngige Landeszentrum für Datenschutz Schleswig-Holstein Johann Bizer. Das ULD erm?glicht bereits heute die Zertifizierung von Gütesiegeln und Auditverfahren.     

Vorratsdatenspeicherung: Ein fundamentaler Verfassungsverstoß

Zusammenfassung  Bie Bundesregierung will die Vorratsdatenspeicherung nach der EG-Richtlinie 2006/24/EG vom 15. M?rz 2006 durch einen neu geschaffenen § 113 a TKG umsetzen. Die Regelung ist erheblichen verfassungsrechtlichen Bedenken ausgesetzt, weil sie zu einer anlasslosen Massenspeicherung von Verkehrsdaten zu unbestimmten Zwecken führt. Sie führt zu einem Paradigmenwechsel im Verh?ltnis zwischen Bürger und Staat. Nicht die Einschr?nkung der Freiheit wird begründungspflichtig, sondern im Gegenteil die Ausübung der bürgerlichen Grundfreiheiten der elektronischen Kommunikation. Psychosomatic medicine and transplantation medicine. Cooperation is useful and necessary

Transplantation represents a breaching of the bodily integrity of the patient, and can lead to anxiety, depression and an identity problem. In the post-transplantation phase also, the patient undergoes further stress associated with check examinations and treatment. Standardized surveys show that the fear of graft rejection remains with the patient for the rest of his/her life. The new situation also has an influence on partnership, family and the overall psychosocial setting. All this adds up to a need for psychosomatic care, support and, where indicated, appropriate treatment in every transplantation patient. The broad spectrum of possible measures available in this connection is discussed.
