An extreme ultraviolet spectrometer has been developed for spectroscopic studies of highly charged ions with an electron beam ion trap. It has a slit-less configuration with a spherical varied-line-spacing grating that provides a flat focal plane for grazing incidence light. Alternative use of two different gratings enables us to cover the wavelength range 1-25 nm. Test observations with the Tokyo electron beam ion trap demonstrate the high performance of the present spectrometer such as a resolving power of above 1000. 相似文献

Myofibres of muscles removed from the carcass shorten during rigor mortis. Whether myofibres of stretched and restrained muscle tissues shorten during post mortem storage was examined. Muscle strips removed from the semimembranosus muscle of sheep before rigor onset were stretched and restrained. The muscle strips were fixed separately in formalin solution from 1.5 hr to 12 days post mortem, and embedded in paraffin. Sections were stained with Mallory-azan. Some myofibres in the pre-rigor-excised and stretched-restrained muscle strips had contraction nodes at 1 day post mortem. The contraction node did not increase in frequency hereafter. Two to several successive sarcomeres shortened regularly to form the nodes parallel to the Z-line. In addition, several successive sarcomeres shortened partly and successively from one side to the other side to form the nodes oblique to the Z-line. Oblique and irregular contraction nodes appear to cause kinks or bends of myofibres. Sarcomere lengths were not always uniform in individual myofibres. Formation of contraction nodes and shortening of partial sarcomeres in the stretched-restrained myofibres indicate that the myofibres shorten individually during rigor mortis and vary in shortening states as in muscles left on the carcass. 相似文献

The temperature‐dependent tip‐induced‐motion of a Ga adatom on a GaAs (110) surface is experimentally demonstrated using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The surface adsorption energy profile obtained by first‐principle electronic structure calculations reveals that the origin of the Ga motion observed at 78 K is attributable to the tip‐induced Ga adatom hopping between the most stable potential minima among the three local minima, whereas that observed at 4.2 K is attributable to the tip‐induced hopping and sliding motions through the next stable minima as well as the most stable minima. Furthermore, it is shown that a slight progressive modification of the adatom motion observed only at 4.2 K resulting from repeated STM line scans is consistent with the overall picture taking account of the heating of the adatom owing to the tip current. 相似文献

Cellulose, a main component of cell walls, generally makes materials hard and brittle. However, an ultratough, cellulosic material is found in nature: cherry bark. Surprisingly, it elongates by more than twice of its initial length and behaves as a plastic film during stretching. We studied the response of a predatory thrips, Scolothrips takahashii, towards herbivore-induced plant volatiles emitted by Lima bean plants infested by two-spotted spider mites Tetranychus urticae (green form). Tests were conducted with a Y-tube olfactometer in the laboratory and with traps under field conditions. The odor of artificially damaged and uninfested Lima bean leaves was not more attractive than clean air in the Y-tube olfactometer. The predatory insects showed a greater preference for Lima bean leaves infested by the two-spotted spider mites than for either clean air or uninfested bean leaves. They showed the same preference towards infested leaves from which all spider mites and their visible products had been removed. Neither the spider mites themselves nor their products attracted the predators. In a satsuma mandarin grove, two traps with infested Lima bean plants as an odor source attracted 42 adult S. takahashii in 55 days, whereas no S. takahashii were trapped in two control traps with uninfested Lima bean plants during the same period. No S. takahashii were found during this period in the vicinity of either the sample traps or the control traps (5-m radius of each trap). These data showed that S. takahashii use herbivore-induced plant volatiles in their foraging behavior in natural ecosystems. 相似文献

The reforming of CH4 with CO2 over supported Rh catalysts has been studied over a range of temperatures (550–1000 K). A significant effect of the support on the catalytic activity was observed, where the order was Rh/Al2O3>Rh/TiO2>Rh/SiO2. The catalytic activity of Rh/SiO2 was promoted markedly by physical mixing of Rh/SiO2 with metal oxides such as Al2O3, TiO2, and MgO, indicating a synergetic effect. The role of the metal oxides used as the support and the physical mixture may be ascribed to the promotion in dissociation of CO2 on the surface of Rh, since the CH4 + CO2 reaction is first order in the pressure of CO2, suggesting that CO2 dissociation is the rate-determining step. The characteristic features of cast alloys with partially dispersed graphite are wear resistance and toughness. The friction and wear performance, hardness and other surface characteristics of the cast alloys with a high dispersive density of 60% at the casting surfaces were studied.The reciprocating sliding wear volume of aluminium alloy AC7A containing dispersants decreases with an increase in the gravity variable G = 2π2DN2/602g, where D (cm) is the diameter of rotation, N (rev min?1) is the rotational speed and g (cm s?2) is the acceleration due to gravity, but depends on the nature of the dispersants. The effect of casting temperature on the wear loss was not significant. The dispersive density at the near-surface regions which is susceptible to the magnitude of G has a direct effect on the wear loss. A dense dispersant has an adverse effect on wear resistance and lubricity. A relation between surface roughness and casting temperature is also reported. 相似文献
