Wireless access points (APs) act as bridges between wired and wireless networks. Since the actually available bandwidth in wireless networks is much smaller than the bandwidth in wired networks, there is a disparity in channel capacity which makes the access point a significant network congestion point in the downstream direction. A current architectural trend in wireless local area networks (WLAN) is to move functionality from APs to a centralized gateway in order to reduce cost and improve features. In this paper, we study the use of RED, a well known active queue management (AQM) scheme, and explicit congestion notification (ECN) to handle bandwidth disparity between the wired and the wireless interface of an access point. Then, we propose the Proxy‐RED scheme, as a solution for reducing the AQM overhead from the access point. Simulations‐based performance analysis indicates that the proposed Proxy‐RED scheme improves the overall performance of a network. In particular, the Proxy‐RED scheme significantly reduces packet loss rate and improves goodput for a small buffer, and minimizes delay for a large buffer size. A Pt(II) complex, bearing an oligo‐ethyleneoxide pendant, is able to self‐assemble in ultralong ribbons that display mechanochromism upon nanoscale mechanical stimuli, delivered through atomic force microscopy (AFM). Such observation paves the way to fine understanding and manipulation of the mechanochromic properties of such material at the nanoscale. AFM allows quantitative assessment of nanoscale mechanochromism as arising from static pressure (piezochromism) and from shear‐based mechanical stimuli (tribochromism), and to compare them with bulk pressure‐dependent luminescence observed with diamond‐anvil cell (DAC) technique. Confocal spectral imaging reveals that mechanochromism only takes place within short distance from the localized mechanical stimulation, which allows to design high‐density information writing with AFM nanolithography applied on individual self‐assembled ribbons. Each ribbon hence serves as an individual microsystem for data storage. The orange luminescence of written information displays high contrast compared to cyan native luminescence; moreover, it can be selectively excited with visible light. In addition, ribbons show photochromism, i.e., the emission spectrum changes upon exposure to light, in a similar way as upon mechanical stress. Photochromism is here conveniently used to conceal and eventually erase information previously written with nanolithography by irradiation. 相似文献

We describe a microscope which allows simultaneous acquisition of Raman and near-infrared photoluminescence (NIR-PL) spectra and images. The instrument comprises an appropriately modified commercial Raman microscope, utilizes 785 nm excitation laser, and includes two detection channels for Raman and PL within the spectral ranges of ~787-1000 nm (~40-2700 cm(-1) Raman shift) and ~1050-1600 nm, respectively. The configuration can however be easily adapted for other excitation wavelengths and detection ranges. The possibility to simultaneously measure both Raman and NIR-PL spectra - exactly at the same sample locations - can be useful for various applications, for instance, for the characterisation of single-walled carbon nanotubes. 相似文献

A fully differential CMOS line driver for use in high bit-rate digital subscriber line (HDSL) services Is presented. The circuit is fabricated in a single-poly quad metal 0.35-μm process and achieves <-70-dB total harmonic distortion while driving up to ±2.4-V, 200-kHz signals into 30 Ω with a 3-V supply. The circuit features a closed loop gain of 6.0 with minimal input capacitance (<200 fF). The circuit requires less than 20 mA of quiescent current and is capable of delivering dynamic currents as large as 180 mA. Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), occurring primarily in patients with asthma or cystic fibrosis (CF), is a hypersensitivity reaction to Aspergillus fumigatus (Af), and is characterized by increased serum IgE levels and peripheral blood and pulmonary eosinophilia. We evaluated the IgE and cytokine profile in ABPA through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and evaluated eosinophil activity with the eosinophil peroxidase (EPO) assay. IgE and cytokines were measured in supernatants from cultures of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from three subject groups: ABPA patients, patients with asthma, and healthy individuals. All cultures for the three subject groups were studied in the presence and absence of two purified Af antigens (the 35-kD antigen and heat shock protein 1). We found that increased in vitro levels of IgE in unstimulated PBMC culture supernatants correlated significantly with serum IgE concentrations in ABPA patients. We measured a decrease in IgE levels of up to 75% of baseline values in supernatants from PBMC cultured with Af antigens. Interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) concentrations in cultures with Af were increased in ABPA, whereas concentrations of IL-4 did not differ in the three subject groups. An inverse relation was noted between the changes in IgE and IFN-gamma measured in 4 of 5 ABPA patients. The PBMC supernatants also promoted EPO activity in purified eosinophils from ABPA patients, and to a lesser extent in purified eosinophils from healthy subjects. These results show that the 35-kD antigen and HSP1 from Af downregulate IgE in vitro but are capable of inducing eosinophilia in ABPA. Further studies could result in the characterization of epitopes leading to these disparate effects. An identification of the IgE-down-regulating epitopes in Af antigens might have therapeutic significance. 相似文献

We have studied intersubband decay of E22 excitons in semiconducting carbon nanotubes experimentally and theoretically. Photoluminescence excitation line widths of semiconducting nanotubes with chiral indicess (n,m) can be mapped onto a connectivity grid with curves of constant (n - m) and (2n + m). Moreover, the global behavior of E22 line widths is best characterized by a strong increase with energy irrespective of their (n-m)mod(3) = +/-1 family affiliation. Solution of the Bethe-Salpeter equations shows that the E22 line widths are dominated by phonon assisted coupling to higher momentum states of the E11 and E12 exciton bands. The calculations also suggest that the branching ratio for decay into exciton bands vs free carrier bands, respectively is about 10:1. 相似文献

We report a bovine linkage map constructed with 1236 polymorphic DNA markers and 14 erythrocyte antigens and serum proteins. The 2990-cM map consists of a sex-specific, X chromosome linkage group and 29 sex-averaged, autosomal linkage groups with an average interval size of 2.5 cM. The map contains 627 new markers and 623 previously linked markers, providing a basis for integrating the four published bovine maps. Orientation and chromosomal assignment of all the linkage groups, except BTA20 and BTA22, was provided by 88 markers that were assigned previously to chromosomes. This map provides sufficient marker density for genomic scans of populations segregating quantitative trait loci (QTL) and subsequent implementation of marker-assisted selection (MAS) mating schemes. 相似文献
