Responses to physical and psychosocial exposures can be measured using diverse methods, but their reliability, particularly under multiple exposures, is largely unknown. Five classes of methods were used to assess physiological and subjective responses among 24 participants to four combinations of physical and psychosocial exposures while performing two identical sessions of a simulated overhead manufacturing task. As an exploratory analysis, test–retest reliability was quantified using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and coefficients of variation (CV). Discomfort ratings were reliable under less favorable exposures, and ratings of the psychosocial environment were most reliable under favorable social support. Workload ratings were most reliable with high physical exposure and favorable social support, and task performance was reliable overall. EMG and heart rate had relatively low reliability. Slightly less than half of the variables were considered reliable, but reliability depended on exposure conditions.Relevance to industry: The study provides information on the reliability of commonly used exposure measurement methods. The results can guide the selection of physiological and psychological work outcome measurements in future studies and work evaluations.  相似文献

This paper investigates the influence of anisotropy and destructuration on the behavior of a test embankment on soft clay. The test embankment at Murro, Finland, was commissioned in 1993 by the Finnish Road Administration and has been monitored for over 10?years. The construction and consolidation of Murro test embankment is analyzed with finite element method using three different constitutive models to represent the soft soil. The results are compared with field observations. The constitutive models used include two recently proposed constitutive models, namely S-CLAY1 that accounts for initial and plastic strain induced anisotropy and its extension, called S-CLAY1S. The S-CLAY1S model accounts, additionally, for interparticle bonding and degradation of bonds. For comparison, the test embankment is also analyzed using the isotropic Modified Cam Clay model. The simulations demonstrate that for this type of problem, it is important to account for the anisotropy, whereas destructuration appears to have less influence on predicted deformations. However, only a model incorporating destructuration can explain the decrease in undrained shear strength during consolidation that was measured in field.  相似文献

Explanatory models of sexual aggression were examined among mainland Asian American (n = 222), Hawaiian Asian American (n = 127), and European American men (n = 399). The Malamuth et al. (N. M. Malamuth, D. Linz, C. L. Heavey, G. Barnes, & M. Acker, 1995; N. M. Malamuth, R. J. Sockloskie, M. P. Koss, & J. S. Tanaka, 1991) confluence model of sexual aggression, which posits impersonal sex and hostile masculinity as paths to sexual aggression, was consistently supported. Culture-specific moderators of sexual aggression were also identified. Whereas loss of face was a protective factor against sexual aggression in the Asian American samples, it generally was not a protective factor among European Americans. These findings are not a function of actual or perceived minority status. An implication is that theoretical models may need to be augmented with cultural constructs for optimal application in certain ethnic group contexts. The objective of this study is to model the association between the electroencephalogram (EEG) spectral features and the novel r scale representing the sedative effects of the propofol anesthetic drug. On the basis of the r scale, the unresponsiveness to the verbal command (LVC) is forecasted. EEG recordings are taken from a 16-patient study population undergoing propofol anesthetic induction. EEG was filtered into consecutive 4-Hz passbands up to 28 Hz. Of these time-series, the amplitude envelopes were extracted and used as input features to the first and the second-order polynomial multiple linear regression models. The values r epsilon [0.4, 1] were predicted with the R2 value of 0.775 with a cross validation. The LVC times were forecasted with the median error of 5%-7% or equivalently 10-13 s. In contrast, using the median of the measured LVC times of the training population as a forecast, the corresponding error was 12% or 26 s. The results suggest an acceptable correlation between the r scale and the EEG spectrum in the studied range. Moreover, the r values of an individual can be predicted using a population model. The suggested framework enables forecasting the LVC, which may open new possibilities for steering the drug administration.  相似文献

The effects of purified Trichoderma reesei endo-xylanase, XYN II and endoglucanases, EG I and EG II on the cell walls of embedded barley cross sections were studied. The cell walls were stained with Calcofluor which is specific for (1–3)(1–4)-β-D-glucans (mixed-linked β-glucans) in histochemical applications. Whereas endosperm cell walls remained highly fluorescent after incubation with buffer, the aleurone cell walls were only weakly fluorescent. Both EG I and EG II were effective in degrading the outer endosperm cell walls, but had little or no effect on the inner endosperm and aleurone cell walls. Corresponding sections incubated with XYN II showed highly intensive fluorescence of aleurone cell walls suggesting that the surface of alaurone cell walls contains a high level of xylan which is removed by xylanase treatment exposing a layer rich in mixed linked β-glucans. This indicates that arabinoxylans and β-glucans in the aleurone cell walls of barley exist as separate, macroscopic layers. Xylanase did not have any Influence on the microstructure of endosperm cell walls which are rich in mixed linked β-glucans. However, incubation with EG II after xylanase treatment caused the aleurone cell walls to become very thin.  相似文献

SiGe BiCMOS low-pass filter for a multicarrier WCDMA base-station receiver is described in this paper. The 4th-order Chebyshev filter with a 0.1-dB passband ripple is designed to drive a high-resolution A/D converter. The −3-dB frequency of the implemented filter can be programmed to four different bandwidths: 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10 MHz depending on the number of received WCDMA channels. The filter achieves +9.7-dBV in-band IIP3, +20-dBV out-of-band IIP3, and 8.5-nV/√Hz input-referred noise density with 10-MHz bandwidth. The circuit uses a 2.5 V supply and has been fabricated in a 0.25-μm SiGe BiCMOS process.  相似文献

The paper presents a Cellular Neural Network implementation based on a high gain sigmoid operation. The required simplifications to the original theory are described that allow the use of high gain. With this design black and white images can be processed. The basic building blocks in a cell are described. A 16×16 cells network has been designed and processed with 1.2 micron CMOS technology. A polyphase filtering topology is proposed which uses parallel switchable RC-networks for accurate broadband 90 phasing. A 0.13μm CMOS prototype using the quadrature-generation network in a direct-conversion quadrature-modulator achieves a measured image-rejection ratio of −39 dBc or better in 0.6–2.5 GHz while consuming only 66 mW from a 2.2 V single supply. Esa Tiiliharjuwas born in Rovaniemi, Finland, in 1966. He received the M.Sc. degree in Information Technology in 1995, and the Lic.Tech degree in electrical engineering in 1998, both from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. From 1996 to July 1997 he was employed as an assistant at Helsinki University of Technology. He has held a position as a research assistant since 1997, and he is currently working towards his Ph.D. degree in the Electronic Circuit Design Laboratory at Helsinki University of Technology. His research interests include the design of integrated low-power circuits for portable telecommunication applications. He has designed and measured several integrated circuits for this application area. He is the author or co-author of several internationally-refereed conference and journal publications on analog integrated circuits. Kari A.I. Halonenwas born in Helsinki, Finland, on May 23, 1958. He received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology (HUT) in 1982 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Heverlee, Belgium, in 1987. From 1982 to 1984, he was with HUT as an Assistant and with the Technical Research Center of Finland as a Research Assistant. From 1984 to 1987, he was a Research Assistant with the E.S.A.T. Laboratory, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, with a temporary grant from the Academy of Finland. Since 1988, he has been with the Electronic Circuit Design Laboratory, HUT, as a Senior Assistant from 1988 to 1990, and as the Director of the Integrated Circuit Design Unit of the Microelectronics Center from 1990 to 1993. He was on leave of absence during the academic year 1992–1993, acting as Research and Development Manager with Fincitec Inc., Finland. From 1993 to 1996, he was an Associate Professor, and since 1997, he has been a full Professor with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, HUT. He became the Head of Electronic Circuit Design Laboratory year 1998. He was the Technical Program Committee Chairman for the European Solid-State Circuits Conference in 2000. He is the author or coauthor of over 150 international and national conference and journal publications on analog integrated circuits, and holds several patents on analog integrated circuits. His research interests are in CMOS and BiCMOS analog integrated circuits, particularly for telecommunication applications. Dr. Halonen was an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS–PART I: FUNDAMENTAL THEORY AND APPLICATIONS from 1997 to 1999. He has been a Guest Editor for the IEEE JOURNAL OF SOLID-STATE CIRCUITS.
