Midgut glands of bivalves are used for the mouse bioassay of diarrhetic shellfish poison (DSP). A large quantity of free fatty acids (FFAs) causes a false positive outcome in the assay. To examine whether this is likely to occus under conditions of actual use, we analyzed the contents of the FFAs in the enlarged midgut glands during gametogenesis of Japanese scallops Patinopecten yessoensis that had been caught at two points in Hunka Bay on March 27, 2006, because the content of FFAs may increase with activation of lipogenesis for gametogenesis. Fatty acids (FAs) were measured with fluorometric high-performance liquid chromatography after derivatization with 9-anthryldiazomethane. The total FFAs (14 : 0, 16 : 0, 18 : 0, 16 : 1, 18 : 1, 18 : 4, 20 : 5 and 22 : 6) represented 3.3-4.2 wt% of the lipid. The toxic FFAs accounted for 40-43 wt% of the total FFAs. Content of each FFA (18 : 1, 2.7-5.0 mg/g lipid; 18 : 4, tr.-2.0 mg/g; 20 : 4, n.d.; 20 : 5, 8.0-9.1 mg/g and 22 : 6, 2.0-2.1 mg/g) was lower than the lethal dose tentatively calculated from the relative toxicity. It appears that the likelihood of FFAs causing false-positives in the mouse bioassay is low if the sample is fresh and is extracted immediately after homogenizing. 相似文献

Laboratory and field measurements were conducted to examine dry deposition of SO2 onto Chinese loess surfaces using native soil sampled in the loess plateau, China. The field tests were employed in Beijing and Lanzhou, China, by directly measuring the dry deposition of SO2 on soil, which uses soil put on a collector as an SO2 passive sampling medium. In the laboratory, a high rate of uptake to SO2 deposition for Chinese soil surfaces due to the highly alkalinity was found. The uptake of SO2 deposition was dependent on the pH soil and relative humidity. Furthermore, we evaluated some factors that affect the measurement precision: response of SO2 uptake, repeatability, recovery factor, and variability associated with the weight and the surface coverage on the collectors. As a result, it was shown that the measurement precision was primarily related to the ratio of the SO2 deposition amount relative to the sulfur content of the original soil. This result was consistent with the field observations. In order to develop a systematic and reasonable concept assuring the structural integrity of components under intense neutron irradiation, two basic tensile properties, true stress-true strain (TS-TS) curves and fracture strain, were investigated on an austenitic stainless steel and martensitic steel. Application of Swift equation is confirmed to a large plastic strain range of TS-TS curves. Fracture strain ?f data were well correlated as ?f + ?0 = const. where ?0 is the pre-strain representing the irradiation hardening.Based on those formulations and available experimental information, several critical issues to be dealt with in developing the concept were identified possible reduction in ductility, significant change in mechanical properties, remarkable cyclic softening and other unique cyclic properties observed during a high-cycle fatigue testing, and the redundancy of the plastic collapse concept to bending. Existing structural codes are all based on the assumption that there will be no significant changes in mechanical properties during operation, and of high ductility. Therefore, a new concept for assuring structural integrity is required for application not only to components with high ductility but also components with reduced ductility. First, potential failure modes were identified, and a new and systematic concept was proposed for preventing these modes of failure, introducing a new concept of categorizing the loadings by stability of deformation process to fracture (as type F and M loadings). Based on the basic concept, a detailed concept of how to protect against ductile fracture was given, and loading type-dependent limiting parameters were set.Finally, application of the detailed concept was presented, especially on determination of loading type (in numerical approach, the formulation of TS-TS curves and fracture strain derived above are needed), and on how to determine the limiting parameters as allowable limits. Experiments were done to identify the loading type of a tensile loading acting on a structure with a discontinuity. Tensile loadings acting on an intensely neutron-irradiated flat plate with a hole in the center cause plastic tensile instability and necking at the minimum ligament section but do not initiate any surface crack at the initiation of necking. 相似文献

Experimental study was made to confirm the validity of new designs of the auxiliary cooling system for the high temperature engineering test reactor (HTTR). First, it is necessary to vent residence air in outlet side of water chamber of the auxiliary heat exchanger for the HTTR. Accordingly, we have proposed to mount a proper bend duct in the outlet side of the water chamber. Air vent is done by difference between pressures at both ends of the bend duct caused by the forced water circulation using the water pumps. From flow tests, it was confirmed that it is capable of venting the air through the bend duct by circulating the water in maximum capacity of the water pumps. Second, it is essential to prevent seizure and excessive wear of the liner slides of the auxiliary concentric hot gas duct for the HTTR at a service temperature of 950°C. Therefore, we have put forward to coat titanium nitride (TiN) on the surface of the liner slides made of nickel-based superalloy Hastelloy XR using the thermochemical vapor deposition method. As a result of seizure and wear tests, it was confirmed that the TiN coating film of 3 μm on the surface of Hastelloy XR is sufficient. 相似文献

The high penetration of variable sources of renewable power generation will lead to operational difficulties in supply/demand balancing in the entire power system. The mass deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug‐in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) will also cause significant changes in electricity demand. Therefore, controlling and managing the charging time of EVs/PHEVs are effective approaches that are imperative for improving balancing in power system operation. We assumed travel patterns for EVs in a model of the future Tokyo power system and analyzed the power system loads, including the charging load of the EVs, under several charging control scenarios. We verified that charging time controls are substantially effective for reducing the fuel costs in the power system. Further, we found that load leveling under a multicar charging management scenario gave the best results in terms of the fuel costs in all cases. 相似文献

The generalized boundary element method is presented for the numerical solution of Burgers' equation. The new method is based on the set of boundary integral equations derived for each subdomain by using the fundamental solution for the linearized differential operator of the equation. The resulting system of quasi-non-linear equations is solved implicitly with use of a simple iterative procedure. Novel Ti-containing silsesquioxane gel catalysts were prepared by the hydrosilylative condensation of Ti-containing silsesquioxanes together with cubic silsesquioxanes and spherosilicates. This paper proposes a new integrated switching system, ‘elastic basket switching’, for broadband and multimedia communications, including voice and high-speed data. In elastic basket switching (EBS), it is possible flexibly and efficiently to handle multimedia information by adaptively assigning communication resources according to communication requests and bandwidth of switched information. For continuous information, such as voice, EBS functions just as a circuit switching system, and for burst data it achieves high-efficiency bandwidth usage equivalent to a packet switching system by demand-assign type time-slot assignment. The detail of EBS and its application to a departmental system-orientated PBX are described. The traffic handling capability and details of the hardware structure are presented.
