Designing a spectrally efficient wireless channel requires a comprehensive understanding of its time and frequency varying characteristics, making it a stochastic medium of communication. These characteristics become more challenging to cater at the receiving terminal in a multipath transmission. This is because of the fading effect and Doppler shift of the transmitted frequency, specifically in cellular mobile radio systems and vehicle to vehicle communications. This paper presents the modeling, simulation, and then characterization of a cellular mobile radio multipath channel over its time and frequency varying fading gain. For this purpose, a discrete-time Finite Impulse Response (FIR) type filter of such a channel is designed, modeled, and simulated using time and frequency varying characteristics of the received signal. The simulated channel response is further analyzed in terms of coherence bandwidth, coherence time, delay spread, Doppler spread, and symbol time.
The induced effects of the gamma rays on properties of bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3) thin films synthesized using successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) have been investigated in details in this work. The Bi2S3 thin films are prepared on glass substrate and then exposed with low gamma radiation dose in the range of 0–1000 Gy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the orthorhombic structural phase. Also, it was noticed in the XRD result that the crystallite size decreased from 115.29 to 73.63 nm with increasing gamma rays doses. For surface properties as well as stoichiometry of the prepared and irradiated thin film have been studied by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). The optical transmission of irradiated samples increased and the energy band gap (E) decreased from 2.78 to 2.52 eV with gamma dose. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra revealed the improvement in the emission characteristics of Bi2S3 thin films with irradiation in the range of 250–1000 Gy. Impedance spectroscopy investigation exhibited that the resistance due to grain boundaries meaningfully contributed to the electrical characteristics of the Bi2S3 thin films. The achieved results suggested that Bi2S3 thin films are a good tool for further study of dosimetry and radiation sensing application.
The purpose of this work is to characterize thermal, physical and mechanical properties of different grades of lactose and better understand the relationships between these properties and capsule filling performance. Eight grades of commercially available lactose were evaluated: Pharmatose 110?M, 125?M, 150?M, 200?M, 350?M (α-lactose monohydrate), AL (anhydrous lactose containing ~80% β-AL), DCL11 (spray dried α-lactose monohydrate containing ~15% amorphous lactose) and DCL15 (granulated α-lactose monohydrate containing ~12% β-AL). In this study, different lactose grades were characterized by thermal, solid state, physical and mechanical properties and later evaluated using principal component analysis (PCA) to assess the inter-relationships among some of these properties. The lactose grades were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), moisture sorption/desorption isotherms, particle size distribution; the flow was characterized by Carr Index (CI), critical orifice diameter (COD) and angle of friction. Plug mechanical strength was estimated from its diametric crushing strength. The first and second principal components (PC) captured 47.6% and 27.4% of variation in the physical and mechanical property data, respectively. The PCA plot grouped together 110?M, AL, DCL11 and DCL15 on the one side of plot which possessed superior properties for capsule formulation and these grades were selected for future formulation development studies (part II of this work). 相似文献
This paper discusses the implementation, architecture, and use of a graphical web‐based application called ReliaCloud‐NS that allows users to (1) evaluate the reliability of a cloud computing system (CCS) and (2) design a CCS to a specified reliability level for both public and private clouds. The software was designed with a RESTful application programming interface for performing nonsequential Monte Carlo simulations to perform reliability evaluations of a CCS. Simulation results are stored and presented to the user in the form of interactive charts and graphs from within a web browser. The software contains multiple types of CCS components, simulations, and virtual machine allocation schemes. ReliaCloud‐NS also contains a novel feature that evaluates CCS reliability across a range of varying virtual machine allocations and establishes and graphs a CCS reliability curve. This paper discusses the software architecture, the interactive web‐based interface, and the different types of simulations available in ReliaCloud‐NS and presents an overview of the results generated from a simulation. 相似文献
BACKGROUND & AIMS: Inflammatory stimuli and lipid peroxidation up-regulate cyclooxygenase (COX)-2. This study evaluated the relationship between inflammatory mediators, COX expression, and pathological changes in experimental alcoholic liver disease. METHODS: Rats (5 per group) were fed ethanol and a diet containing saturated fat, corn oil, or fish oil by intragastric infusion. Dextrose isocalorically replaced ethanol in controls. In the first set of experiments, whole livers were analyzed. In the second set of experiments, Kupffer cells, endothelial cells, and hepatocytes were isolated from rats in each group. Pathological analyses and measurements of lipid peroxidation, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, COX-1 and COX-2 messenger RNA (mRNA), endotoxin, and liver and plasma thromboxane were performed. RESULTS: Increased expression of COX-2 mRNA was detected in the livers of rats showing necroinflammatory changes. The Kupffer cell was the cell primarily responsible for the increase in COX-2 mRNA level. Increased expression of COX-2 was associated with increased levels of endotoxin, TNF-alpha mRNA, lipid peroxidation, and synthesis of thromboxane. COX-1 mRNA was decreased in Kupffer cells in rats with the most severe liver injury. CONCLUSIONS: Up-regulation of COX-2 in alcoholic liver injury occurred in the presence of proinflammatory stimuli and resulted in increased synthesis of inflammatory and vasoactive eicosanoids. Down-regulation of COX-1 may result in decreased synthesis of cytoprotective eicosanoids and additionally exacerbate liver injury. 相似文献
AIM: In 1997, an immunisation campaign, using measles-mumps-rubella vaccine, was planned for children aged 2-10 years to prevent a measles epidemic predicted by mathematical modelling. The epidemic started before the campaign and is described here. METHOD: Measles hospitalisation, notification and laboratory data were combined. RESULTS: The epidemic started in April 1997 and was largely over by January 1998. No deaths were identified and only one hospitalisation was coded as measles encephalitis, compared to seven deaths and ten cases of measles encephalitis in the 1991 epidemic. For the 12 months from 1 March 1997 there were 2,169 (60 per 100,000) measles cases identified, 314 (9 per 100,000) of whom were hospitalised. Two-thirds of hospitalised cases were notified. The age-standardised measles incidence rates were 33, 34, and 174 per 100,000 for Europeans, Maori and Pacific people, respectively. The respective age-standardised hospitalisation rates were 4, 9 and 32 per 100,000. Measles incidence was highest for under one-year-olds (904 per 100,000) and low for 11-16 year-olds (27 per 100,000)--the cohort previously offered a second vaccine dose. Most cases were aged 10 years and under, and this group were the main drivers of virus transmission. CONCLUSIONS: The immunisation campaign prevented 90-95% of predicted cases. The campaign was appropriately targeted at children aged 10 years and under. 相似文献
Conic sections have many applications in industrial design, however, they cannot be exactly represented in polynomial form. Hence approximating conic sections with polynomials is a challenging problem. In this paper, we use the monomial form of Delgado and Peña (DP) curves and present a matrix representation for them. Using the matrix form and the least squares method, we propose a simple and efficient algorithm for approximating conic sections by DP curves of arbitrary degree with endpoint interpolation. Finally, we test and compare the proposed algorithm on some numerical examples which validates and confirms efficiency of it. 相似文献
