This paper presents simultaneous turbulence measurements of velocity and tracer concentration using a combination of laser Doppler anemometer (LDA) and laser induced fluorescence (LIF) in rectangular and compound channels. Secondary flow, Reynolds stresses, Reynolds fluxes, and dye concentration distributions were measured near the water surface in both channels. An investigation of the effect of secondary flow on passive contaminant diffusion processes was carried out with relatively weak secondary flow in the rectangular channel and relatively strong secondary flow in the compound channel. The results show that the secondary flow clearly influences the spreading of the tracer concentration and the location of concentration peak, being different from the injection location. The transport rate of solute due to the secondary flow is not significant in the rectangular channel case but significant in the compound channel case. The transverse eddy viscosity is demonstrated to be equal to the transverse eddy diffusivity. The transverse eddy diffusivity near the water surface is larger than the vertical one. The Fickian law is valid in most regions investigated, but there are some regions where the Reynolds flux and concentration gradients are locally of the same sign due to the influence of secondary flow on the concentration distribution.  相似文献

In Experiment 1, 3 mother–child pairs of Japanese monkeys (Macaca fuscata) were given simultaneous choice tests between raisins and popcorn. The mothers and offspring showed different choice patterns. Cofeeding opportunities were then alternated with individual choice tests. In Experiment 2, 2 other pairs were added. Each animal was again offered simultaneous choice tests between marshmallows and almonds. Food aversion conditioning was used to create different choice patterns for mothers and offspring. After cofeeding and choice tests, the differences in choice patterns disappeared in both experiments. The changes after contact with the other's eating pattern during cofeeding was as follows: foods consumed by either came to be eaten by both; foods consumed by both continued to be eaten by both; and foods consumed by neither continued to be ignored. The tensile shear adhesive‐free adhesion properties induced by electrostatic interactions between poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and poly[2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] (PDMAEMA) chains grafted onto polyethylene (PE) with low‐density (LDPE) or high‐density (HDPE) plates were studied. PAA‐ or PDMAEMA‐grafted PE plates were immersed in a HCl or NaOH solution or water for 24 h, and their electrostatic properties were changed before they were overlapped with each other and heat‐pressed. The breaking of the substrate between the two plates with water‐swollen grafted layers was observed in the low range of grafted amounts in comparison with immersion in the acidic and basic solutions. The ability of the two plates with grafted polymer chains swollen in water to strongly bond with each other was a result of electrostatic interactions formed by positively charged PDMAEMA and negatively charged PAA chains. The breaking of the substrate in the case of adhesive‐free adhesion between quaternized PDMAEMA‐grafted and PAA‐grafted PE plates immersed in the basic solution occurred with lower grafted amounts of PAA. This came from the strong attractive force between dissociated anionic PAA chains and quaternized cationic PDMAEMA chains in the basic solution. In addition, the adhesive‐free adhesion strength of HDPE plates with the same grafted polymer chains encountered the breaking of the substrate with lower grafted amounts than that of LDPE plates. It was concluded that the grafting of polymer chains onto HDPE plates with high crystallinity was considerably restricted to the outer surface regions. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The relationship between oxygen consumption and iodine-123-beta-methyl-p-iodophenyl-pentadecanoic acid (123I-BMIPP) washout at rest and after exercise was investigated in normal and ischemic myocardium. Sixteen healthy volunteers and 14 patients with ischemic heart disease were examined. After injection of 111MBq of 123I-BMIPP, serial single photon emission computed tomography imaging was performed to evaluate washout ratio after 30 min and 1 hour of rest and after exercise. In the volunteers, the mean washout ratio was 3.3 +/- 3.5% after 1 hour of rest and increased during exercise. The exercise washout ratio showed a better correlation with net pressure rate product (net PRP: cumulative values of PRP during exercise) than with the peak PRP. The exercise washout ratio showed a strong correlation with the net PRP in the range from 180 to 300 x 10(3) mmHg. beat/min and a plateau of 10-15%. In the nine ischemic patients with net PRP > or = 300 x 10(3) mmHg.beat/min, the exercise washout ratio values were significantly elevated in normal segments relative to ischemic segments (10.1 +/- 1.9% vs 4.7 +/- 2.9%, p < 0.001). In the five ischemic patients with net PRP < 300 x 10(3) mmHg.beat/min, washout ratio at rest and after exercise did not differ significantly between normal and ischemic segments. 123I-BMIPP washout ratio increased with increased oxygen consumption during exercise in normal myocardium but not in ischemic myocardium. The patient must exercise before fatty acid metabolism can be compared between normal and ischemic myocardium.  相似文献

Organic precursors containing Al and Zr atoms were synthesized from an aluminium chelate compound and zirconium n-butoxide. A ZrO2-Al2O3 composite powder was prepared by the thermal decomposition of these precursors. An amorphous phase exists to higher temperatures for this ZrO2-Al2O3 powder than for a comparable powder prepared from aluminium sec-butoxide and zirconium n-butoxide. In addition the tetragonal ZrO2 phase was stabler in this ZrO2-Al2O3 powder than in a comparison powder. The ZrO2 grains were 50–500 nm in diameter and were homogeneously dispersed in the Al2O3 matrix after heating at 1400 °C.  相似文献

An extremely low threshold current, of 0.88 mA under continuous wave (CW) operation was obtained for a three-quantum-well AlGaAs-GaAs laser without facet coating at room temperature. This laser was fabricated using only single-step metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) on a nonplanar GaAs substrate. The energy conversion efficiency from input electric power to light output power was 42% at 1 mW/facet, which is the highest value for all types of lasers. The laser beam shape was nearly round with an aspect ratio of 0.86  相似文献

The authors propose a new refining process, by which hot metal is dephosphorized and decarburized continuously in the same basic‐oxygen furnace, with intermediate deslagging following dephosphorization. After decarburization, slag is kept inside the furnace and reused to dephosphorize the next charge so as to minimize the quantity of slag discharge. Experiments were made to clarify the properties of this process, using an 8‐ton experimental converter. The results confirmed high productivity or a higher rate of dephosphorzation achievable with an increased rate of oxygen blowing and the addition of iron ore. Because of the dephosphorization by low‐basicity slag and the hot recycling of decarburizationslag to dephosphorize the next charge, lime consumption was relatively low. The proper conditions of this process, such as the slag composition for dephosphorization, rate of oxygen supply, bottom agitation, and rate of intermediate deslagging, are also discussed, based on the experimental results.  相似文献

The light- and thermal-induced changes of Si---H bonds in undoped a-Si : H have been studied on the infrared absorption of Si---H stretching mode, using the infrared photothermal deflection spectroscopy and the photothermal bending spectroscopy. The results show that the IR absorption of Si---H bonds increases by light soaking of the high power 500 mW/cm2. The change of IR absorption of Si---H bonds reoccurs by thermal annealing at 200°C. This change is related to the increase of the dangling bonds under light soaking. Furthermore, we observe the change of the elasticity modulus by light soaking, using the photothermal bending spectroscopy. The structural change in a-Si : H is discussed based on these results.  相似文献
