A structured in-depth interview employing standardized criteria was used to determine the prevalence of lifetime and current alcohol dependence (alcoholism) in unselected consecutive patients admitted to a regional Level I trauma center. Of 629 patients, 157 (25.0%) were current alcoholics at the time of injury. An additional 87 (13.8%) were diagnosed as lifetime non-current alcoholics. There was no significant difference in the rates of current alcohol dependence among patients injured in vehicular crashes (23.5%), other unintentional trauma victims (29.3%), and those injured as a result of violence (24.6%). Of BAC + (blood alcohol concentration positive) patients, 54.5% were current alcoholics. However, 14.4% of alcohol-negative patients were also diagnosed as alcohol dependent.  相似文献

In this study, it is demonstrated that the incorporation of fluorine can enhance poly-Si/Si interfacial oxide break-up in the poly-Si emitter contacted p+-n shallow junction formation. The annealing temperature for breaking up the poly-Si/Si interfacial oxide has been found to be as low as 900°C. This paper proposes two new methods for designing a class of two-channel perfect reconstruction (PR) finite impulse response (FIR) filterbanks (FBs) and wavelets with K-regularity of high order and studies its multiplier-less implementation. It is based on the two-channel structural PR FB proposed by Phoong et al (1995). The basic principle is to represent the K-regularity condition as a set of linear equality constraints in the design variables so that the least square and minimax design problems can be solved, respectively, as a quadratic programming problem with linear equality constraints (QPLC) and a semidefinite programming (SDP) problem. We also demonstrate that it is always possible to realize such FBs with sum-of-powers-of-two (SOPOT) coefficients while preserving the regularity constraints using Bernstein polynomials. However, this implementation usually requires long coefficient wordlength and another direct-form implementation, which can realize multiplier-less wavelets with K-regularity condition up to fifth order, is proposed. Several design examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.  相似文献

The recurrence theory for the breakdown probability in avalanche photodiodes (APDs) is generalized to heterostructure APDs that may have multiple multiplication layers. The generalization addresses layer-boundary effects such as the initial energy of injected carriers as well as the layer-dependent profile of the dead space in the multiplication region. Reducing the width of the multiplication layer serves to both downshift and sharpen the breakdown probability curve as a function of the applied reverse-bias voltage. In structures where the injected carriers have an initial energy that is comparable to the ionization threshold energy, the transition from linear mode to Geiger-mode is more abrupt than in structures in which such initial energy is negligible. The theory is applied to two recently fabricated Al/sub 0.6/Ga/sub 0.4/As-GaAs heterostructure APDs and to other homostructure thin GaAs APDs and the predictions of the breakdown-voltage thresholds are verified.  相似文献

The photonic quantum ring (PQR) laser is a three dimensional whispering gallery (WG) mode laser and has anomalous quantum wire properties, such as microampere to nanoampere range threshold currents and √T‐dependent thermal red shifts. We observed uniform bottom emissions from a 1‐kb smart pixel chip of a 32×32 InGaAs PQR laser array flip‐chip bonded to a 0.35 µm CMOS‐based PQR laser driver. The PQR‐CMOS smart pixel array, now operating at 30 MHz, will be improved to the GHz frequency range through device and circuit optimization.  相似文献

A new method of estimating flutter derivatives using artificial neural networks is proposed. Unlike other computational fluid dynamics based numerical analyses, the proposed method estimates flutter derivatives utilizing previously measured experimental data. One of the advantages of the neural networks approach is that they can approximate a function of many dimensions. An efficient method has been developed to quantify the geometry of deck sections for neural network input. The output of the neural network is flutter derivatives. The flutter derivatives estimation network, which has been trained by the proposed methodology, is tested both for training sets and novel testing sets. The network shows reasonable performance for the novel sets, as well as outstanding performance for the training sets. Two variations of the proposed network are also presented, along with their estimation capability. The paper shows the potential of applying neural networks to wind force approximations.  相似文献

Low temperature heat capacity measurements have been made on hot isostatically pressed Nb3Sn and arc cast, homogenized, and A15 transformation annealed V-23.3 at. pct Ga and V-18.1 at. pct Ga. The heat capacity measurements display the superconducting transition temperature (T c), and have been used to evaluate the effects of plastic deformation on theT c range. Plastic deformation to the extent of 15 pct compression at 1525 and 1650 °C does not alter the superconducting transition in polycrystalline Nb3Sn. Plastic deformation to the extent of 15 pct compression at 1050 and 1200 °C does not alter the superconducting transition in polycrystalline V-23.3Ga, transformed to A15 structure with a fifty-hour 1150 °C anneal. The same statement can be made for A15 V-18.1Ga, deformed at 1050 °C after a fifty-hour, 1150 °C anneal. With onlyfive hours annealing at 1150 °C, A15 V-23.2Ga displays a lowering and broadening of theT c range upon 1050 and 1200 °C plastic deformation. With onlyfive hours annealing at 1150 °C, A15 V-18.1Ga displays a broad, but increasedT c range after plastic deformation at 1050 °C.  相似文献
