Eleven lactic acid bacteria strains of importance to the dairy industry were subjected to in vitro analyses to determine their probiotic potential. Seven strains were isolated from ewe’s and cow’s milk (Enterococcus faecalis – five –, Lactococcus lactis and Lactobacillus paracasei). Four were obtained from American Type Culture Collection (ATCC), isolated from cheese (Lactobacillus casei 393), human feces (L. paracasei 27092 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus 53103) and used in cheese making (L. lactis 54104). Although none of the strains was able to degrade mucin, all E. faecalis showed, at least, one transferable antibiotic resistance, which excluded them as candidates for addition to foods. Of the remaining six safe strains, L. lactis strains were more tolerant to low pH than Lactobacillus spp.; all were tolerant to pancreatin and bile salts and showed antibacterial activity. The highest level of adhesion to Caco-2 cells was observed with L. lactis 660, even higher than L. rhamnosus ATCC 53103 (recognized probiotic and used as control). The physiological probiotic properties of these strains, mainly isolated from dairy sources, are interesting in view of their use in cheese productions as starter and non starter cultures. The design and performance of two orthogonal extraction time-of-flight mass spectrometers are reported that were adapted to existing focused ion beam microscopes for secondary ion mass spectrometry. The performances of these designs were compared to that of a prototype previously described by our group. The differences include newly designed transfer ion optics and in the use of a larger microscope chamber. The two new prototypes allow a mass resolving power of either 600 Th/Th (compact design) or 3000 Th/Th (high resolution design) while simultaneously achieving a lateral spatial resolution of less than 50 nm. The spectrometers and their performance (effective ion yield, mass resolving power, lateral, and depth resolution) are described and compared. Additionally, example applications are presented with multivariate statistical methods to visualize the data sets. Both time-of-flight mass analyzers use orthogonal extraction which avoids the need to pulse the primary ion beam, and the of use monoisotopic gallium to preserve the mass resolution. The goal of the design was a cost-effective accessory to augment typical focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy applications as an alternative to the cost of a dedicated secondary ion mass spectrometer. The modified instrument allows excellent non destructive imaging and easy sample access, and benefits from the presence of complementary non destructive analytical and imaging techniques that exploit the presence of an electron microscope. 相似文献

The aging process of distilled spirits is a complex system based on the extraction of molecules from the wood and interactions with the liquid, the phenomenon of migration of wood constituents, as well as the formation and degradation of several compounds. Volatile and maturation‐related congeners were evaluated during the aging process of cachaça, a Brazilian sugarcane spirit aged in oak barrels. Aged cachaça presented alterations in the levels of ethanol, higher alcohols, acetaldehyde, volatile acidity, ethyl acetate, total volatile congeners, isoamyl alcohol, ethyl carbamate and copper. The aging markers (gallic acid, furfural, 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural, vanillic acid, syringic acid, vanillin, syringaldehyde, sinapaldehyde and coniferaldehyde) were compared with the compounds found in whisky, cognac, armagnac, bourbon and brandy. Monitoring the generation and evolution of congeners during the aging process allowed the characterization of cachaça and the identification of product maturity. of food intake was higher in the animals submitted to a hyperlipidic diet during the perinatal period. Serum total cholesterol,

The survival of Lactobacillus delbrueckii UFV H2b20 in three ice cream formulations (low fat, fat free and high fat) was evaluated after the processing and storage at ?16 °C. The survival of L. delbrueckii UFV H2b20 was not significantly affected (P > 0.05) in three ice cream formulations after processing. The same result was observed during storage for 40 days at ?16 °C. Cells of L. delbrueckii UFV H2b20 incorporated in three ice cream formulation survived when exposed to acid stress and bile salts. The results demonstrate that L. delbrueckii UFV H2b20 has potential for being used in ice cream and capacity to resist acid stress and to grow in the presence of bile salts. This demonstrates that reduction of fat in ice cream does not compromise the viability of L. delbrueckii UFV H2B20. 相似文献

The use of porous materials as a restrictor in aerostatic bearings provides many advantages over conventional restrictors, such as small variation of temperature, high damping, high operational speeds, limited wear, and capacity to support radial, axial, and combined loading. A design of experiment (DOE) was carried out to evaluate cold‐pressed cementitious composites as an air restrictor in thrust bearings. The physical and mechanical properties such as the apparent porosity, permeability, and elastic modulus were investigated in this work, thus verifying the structural and flow characteristics of the composites for such application. Electrochemical corrosion of Pb–1 wt% Sn and Pb–2.5 wt% Sn alloys for lead-acid battery applications
The aim of this study was to compare the electrochemical corrosion behavior of as-cast Pb–1 wt% Sn and Pb–2.5 wt% Sn alloy samples in a 0.5 M H2SO4 solution at 25 °C. A water-cooled unidirectional solidification system was used to obtain the as-cast samples. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) diagrams, potentiodynamic polarization curves and an equivalent circuit analysis were used to evaluate the electrochemical corrosion response. It was found that a coarse cellular array has a better electrochemical corrosion resistance than fine cells. The pre-programming of microstructure cell size of Pb–Sn alloys can be used as an alternative way to produce as-cast components of lead-acid batteries with higher corrosion resistance associated with environmental and economical aspects. 相似文献
