The improvement of wood-plastic composites properties by additives and compatibilizers is a critical issue to produce value-added materials. High-density polyethylene-wood composites have been obtained through compression molding at 140 °C, using two types of additives, namely methyltrioctylammonium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide and trihexyltetradecylphosphonium bis (2,4,4-trimethylpentyl) phosphinate room temperature ionic liquids. The ionic liquids improve the interfacial adhesion between the wood and the polymer phases, contributing to an increased stability of the material to water action and to an improved impact resistance and tensile strength in comparison with the reference. Also, the FTIR spectroscopy tests have proven a higher resistance of the ionic liquid-containing composites to accelerated photooxidation. Preliminary screening tests have also proven the antifungal character of the ionic liquids used in this study against brown rot (Postia placenta). This study opens new insights in the domain of polymeric composite materials, through documenting the possibility of blending new types of chemically distinct materials, difficult to be achieved by traditional functionalization/derivatization routes.  相似文献

This study reports on the supramolecular assemblies formed between planar carbon systems (PCSs) such as thermally reduced graphene oxide (TRGO) and its small‐molecule model system coronene and a series of d ‐ and l ‐α amino acid derivatized naphthalenediimides (NDIs) where the halogen substituents (X = F, Cl, Br, I) are varied systematically. Confocal fluorescence microscopy of NDIs, NDI?coronene, and NDI?TRGO complexes is performed proving the uptake and stability of such complexes in the cellular environment and suggesting their potential as prostate cancer imaging agents. 1H NMR and UV–vis spectroscopy studies support the formation of charge transfer complexes whereby the increasing polarizability and general electronegativity of the aryl halide substituted at the NDI periphery influence the magnitude of the association constants in the ground state between NDI and coronene. Complexation between NDIs and PCSs also results in stable photoexcited assemblies within the solution (coronene) as well as the dispersed phased (TRGO). Fluorescence emission titrations and 2‐photon time correlated single photon counting measurements suggest the existence of dynamic quenching mechanisms upon the excitation of the fluorophore in the presence of the carbon substrates, as these methods are sensitive proves for the subtle changes in the NDI environment. The series of halogenated species used exerts supramolecular control over the degree of surface assembly on the TRGO and over the interactions with the coronene molecule, and this is of relevance to the assembly of future biosensing platforms as these materials can both be viewed as congeners of graphene. Finally, MTT assays carried out in PC‐3 cells demonstrate that the stable noncovalent functionalization of TRGO and coronene with either l or d NDIs remarkably improves the cellular viability in the presence of such graphene‐like materials. These phenomena are of particular relevance for the understanding of the direct donor–acceptor interactions in solutions which govern the design of nanomaterials with future biosensing and bioimaging applications.  相似文献

This paper presents results of work carried out to produce phosphate esters of the alkyl‐aryl type. Three new triesters of mixed structure have been synthesised using a special alcohol with an aryl content, e.g., 2‐phenoxy ethanol, and a very long branched alcohol, e.g., isotridecanol. The influence of the aryl content and the effect of the long aliphatic chain on the main tribological properties have been investigated.  相似文献

The complexation ability of some linear crown ether‐siloxane copolymers of ester or amide type with cations as K+ and NH4+ was investigated spectrophotometrically in order to select the polysiloxane receptors that achieve good ion transport ability by bulk liquid membrane systems. Special microstructures of the newly developed Laser Engineered Net Shaping (LENS?)-processed steel induce a new variability in fatigue damage formation and evolution mechanisms. The microporosity and mechanism of fatigue damage formation and growth were invested using X-ray computed tomography and scanning electron microscopy. Systematic observations were made of the variations in the fracture surfaces according to three fatigue damage evolution stages: fatigue crack formation (incubation), microstructurally/physically small cracks, and long cracks. The fatigue crack was formed almost exclusively at the relatively large pores located at or near the specimen surface, with rare cases at incompletely melted power particles on the surface. Distributed cracks from large interior pores coalesced with each other in the microstructurally small crack regime to form the major critical crack that eventually fractured the specimen. This coalescence accelerated the fatigue crack growth, which in turn decreased the fatigue life but not significantly. In the long-crack regime, the fracture surface was rougher, but the overall surface tended to be perpendicular to the loading direction, indicating a Mode I type fracture. Cyclic strain-softening, with reduced strain-hardening, was also observed. The multistage fatigue model of McDowell et al. was used to capture the microstructure effects in the three fatigue damage evolution regimes, and the upper and lower bounds for the strain–life are predicted.  相似文献

It is well established that emotion plays a key role in human social and economic decision making. The recent literature on emotion regulation (ER), however, highlights that humans typically make efforts to control emotion experiences. This leaves open the possibility that decision effects previously attributed to acute emotion may be a consequence of acute ER strategies such as cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. In Study 1, we manipulated ER of laboratory-induced fear and disgust, and found that the cognitive reappraisal of these negative emotions promotes risky decisions (reduces risk aversion) in the Balloon Analogue Risk Task and is associated with increased performance in the prehunch/hunch period of the Iowa Gambling Task. In Study 2, we found that naturally occurring negative emotions also increase risk aversion in Balloon Analogue Risk Task, but the incidental use of cognitive reappraisal of emotions impedes this effect. We offer evidence that the increased effectiveness of cognitive reappraisal in reducing the experience of emotions underlies its beneficial effects on decision making. A new nondestructive analytical method for diagnosis of tooth caries is presented. The method is based on the Multiphoton Ionization (MPI) fast conductivity signals measured from tooth surfaces. The signals are acquired for a series of laser wavelengths, thus obtaining full MPI spectra. The results indicate a good correlation between the MPI results and the degree of severity of the caries, as diagnosed using traditional inspection. Moreover, the spectral information can be reduced (using least squares fitting) to a single parameter that provides an objective quantitative estimation of the caries severity. The MPI data can be obtained for tiny points on the dental surface and it is suggested that mapping is possible by scanning method.  相似文献

Abstract

A method for estimating the extent of tooth caries and providing imaging information based on Raman Spectral Imaging is suggested. This non‐destructive optical method is able to characterize and differentiate between normal enamel tooth surface, and initial and advanced tooth caries. Images and corresponding spectra were acquired from various tooth sites, and it was demonstrated that normal, white opaque, brown discoloured, and pitted tooth surfaces all have different distinct spectral features which characterize the different degrees of dental caries. Spectral analysis allows for detection of early changes in the surfaces of carious teeth, and the associated mapping capability allows for morphological characterization. It was found that the emission at 960 cm?1, which corresponds to PO stretching in the hydroxyapatite bond, is the most significant and can be used for diagnosis of caries. The emissions at 1070 cm?1 and at 590 cm?1 can also be applied, but are less accurate. The results suggest that this technique may be further developed and applied for clinical diagnosis of initial and more advanced demineralization processes of the enamel tooth surfaces.  相似文献

The paper presents results concerning the synthesis and characterisation as lubricants with biodegradability potential of some complex tetraesters realised on the basis of adipic acid and different glycols such as (mono) ethylene, 1,3‐propylene, 1,4‐butylene, 1,5‐pentamethylene, 1,6‐hexamethylene, diethylene and triethylene glycol, respectively, along with oleic acid used, considered as an end, final segment or as a capping element. On the basis of a regular alternation or successive distribution principle of the polar and nonpolar chemical functions equally distributed, shared out on the length of a sufficient, satisfactorily long, large molecule, valuable synthetic complex tetraester lubricants considered as eco‐friendly base oils with biodegradability potential were performed.
