Dysphonic voices are often analyzed using automated voice analysis software. However, the reliability of acoustic measures obtained from these programs remains unknown, particularly when they are applied to pathological voices. This study compared perturbation measures from CSpeech, Computerized Speech Laboratory, SoundScope, and a hand marking voice analysis system. Sustained vowels from 29 male and 21 female speakers with mild to severe dysphonia were digitized, and fundamental frequency (F0), jitter, shimmer, and harmonics- or signal-to-noise ratios were computed. Commercially available acoustical analysis programs agreed well, but not perfectly, in their measures of F0. Measures of perturbation in the various analysis packages use different algorithms, provide results in different units, and often yield values for voices that violate the assumption of quasi-periodicity. As a result, poor rank order correlations between programs using similar measures of perturbation were noted. Because measures of aperiodicity apparently cannot be reliably applied to voices that are even mildly aperiodic, we question their utility in quantifying vocal quality, especially in pathological voices.  相似文献

This paper presents the computer-aided design (CAD) and performance analysis of a novel direct-driven wheel brushless DC motor drive for electric vehicles (EVs). The proposed motor is a permanent magnet square-wave motor, whose rotor with rare earth magnets forms the exterior of the motor, which can be fitted with a wheel tire to realize the direct drive for each wheel of an EV. The interior stator with its windings is rigidly mounted onto the suspension and frame structure of the vehicle. In order to achieve the direct drive without any mechanical transmission for EVs, the wheel motor has been designed as a low-speed high-torque motor. The design and optimization of the motor geometry was achieved with the aid of finite-element electromagnetic field analysis. Simulation studies on the transient performance of the motor drive were also carried out. This involved the creation of the motor transient model and formulation of a motor control strategy to ensure the wheel motor drive runs efficiently in the entire permitted speed and load range. The application of CAD techniques in the design of this very unconventional drive is described in this paper  相似文献

A significant improvement in the precision of the hollow cathode as an emission source is reported. Precision of 1% or less has been observed several times over periods of several hours. An average long-term stability of 4.3% for Ll and 6.0% for Na in the emission signal from microsamples (less than 50 nL) deposited in the hollow cathode discharge source is reported. The improved precision is attributed primarily to the introduction of electronics that hold the discharge current more nearly constant and to the shielding of all wiring to the source from the power supply. A current-controlled switch that is capable of driving a hollow cathode discharge in either dc or pulsed mode is described. This switch is capable of generating current pulses as short as 2 microseconds through a resistive load and greatly improves the discharge stability and repeatability at turn-on in both the dc and pulsed modes. The characteristics of pulses produced by this switch are presented; however, analytical performance is reported only for the dc mode. Temporal current plots are presented for the new instrumentation and compared to plots taken with commonly used current-controlled power supplies. Instrumentation, operation, and sample preparation procedures are described. Typical temporal profiles of the emission signal from microsamples deposited in AI and stainless steel hollow cathodes are given.  相似文献

Sixty-six supine portable chest radiographs done on the day of bronchoscopy in 62 critical care unit patients suspected of having pneumonia were examined in a blinded fashion by two radiologists. Quantitative culture results obtained from protected brush catheter (PBC) specimens were compared with chest radiograph scores. For one observer, the sensitivity of the chest radiograph for predicting the presence of positive culture results was 0.60, specificity was 0.29, overall agreement was 0.41, positive predictive value was 0.34, and negative predictive value was 0.55. For the second observer, the values were as follows: sensitivity, 0.64; specificity, 0.27; overall agreement, 0.41; positive predictive value, 0.35; and negative predictive value, 0.55. The kappa statistic was calculated at 0.27 indicating marginal interobserver reproducibility. We conclude the portable chest radiograph in the critical care setting is not accurate in predicting the presence of pneumonia when the diagnosis is based on quantitative cultures obtained from protected brush catheter specimens.  相似文献

Müllerian inhibiting substance (MIS), an inhibitor of growth and development of the female reproductive ducts in male fetuses, requires precise proteolytic cleavage to yield its biologically active species. Human plasmin is now used to cleave and, thereby, activate immunoaffinity-purified recombinant human MIS at its monobasic arginine-serine site at residues 427-428. To avoid the need for exogenous enzymatic cleavage and to simplify purification, we created an arginine-arginine dibasic cleavage site (MIS RR) using site-directed mutagenesis to change the serine at position 428 (AGC) to an arginine (cGC). The mutant cDNA was then stably transfected into a MIS-responsive ocular melanoma cell line, OM431, followed by cloning for amplified expression to test its biological activity in vitro and in vivo. Media from each clone were assayed for production of MIS RR by a sensitive ELISA for holo-MIS, and high- and low-producing clones were selected for further study. Media from the highest MIS RR producer caused Müllerian duct regression in an organ culture bioassay. Other transfections were done with an empty vector (pcDNAI Neo) or a construct lacking the leader sequence and thus failing to secrete MIS, to serve as controls. The OM431 clones containing the MIS RR mutant were growth inhibited in monolayer culture. The high- and low-producing MIS RR OM431 clones, along with transfected OM431 controls, were injected into the tail veins of immunosuppressed severe combined immunodeficiency mice for in vivo analyses. Four to 6 weeks later, pulmonary metastases were counted in uniformly inflated lungs. OM431 clones containing the more easily cleaved MIS RR displayed a significant dose-dependent reduction in pulmonary metastases when compared to the lungs of animals given injections of OM431 clones containing empty vector, leaderless MIS, or wild-type MIS that requires activation by plasmin cleavage. Since the purification protocol of MIS RR is less complicated than that for wild-type MIS, which requires subsequent enzymatic activation, MIS RR can be used for scale-up production with increased yields for further therapeutic trials against MIS-sensitive tumors.  相似文献
