We use a method based on the simultaneous combination of the propagation operator and the Fourier transform with arbitrary index in propagating the transverse component of a nonparaxial beam in free space from an arbitrary initial transverse field structure. Being an iterative method, this approach can easily be implemented computationally. As an example of its efficiency, we derive the closed-form nonparaxial corrections to a Bessel-Gaussian beam, showing that our results differ strongly from those reported previously. The validity of our approach is supported by an analysis of the paraxiality estimator recently introduced in the literature.  相似文献

The cure of the epoxy resin diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (Araldyt GY9527) with a mixture of cycloaliphatic amines (Distraltec) was studied, and the focus was on the effect of the copolymerization with a commercial polyurethane (PU) elastomer (Desmocap 12). A simplified phenomenological model was proposed to represent the copolymerization reaction. It considered the effect of the temperature and the concentration of the elastomer on the reaction rate, and it was simple enough to be included in models of processing conditions. A nonlinear regression analysis of the experimental conversion data obtained from differential scanning calorimetry was utilized to find the best fitting parameters to Kamal's equation for the chemically controlled part of the reaction (short times) under isothermal and constant heating‐rate conditions. The Rabinowitch approach together with the Addam–Gibbs theory was utilized to introduce the effect of diffusion control at the end of the reaction on the overall constant for the reaction rate. The Di Benedetto equation was used to predict the conversion at which vitrification takes place for each run. Experimental results for conversions higher than this critical conversion were utilized to obtain information about the diffusion kinetic constant using a nonlinear regression analysis as previously. The overall model obtained was used to calculate a calorimetric conversion and reaction rate as functions of time, which was in excellent agreement with the experimental results. The addition of PU elastomers affected the values of the activation energies of the chemically and diffusion controlled parts of the reaction, as well as the final conversion reached by the epoxy–amine system. The proposed model allowed prediction of all the observed features using parameters that were independent of the temperature of the curing reaction. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. An analysis has been made to compare the repeatability and reproducibility of three tests for cigarette ignition of upholstered furniture composites: ASTM E1352, ASTM E1353 and NIST 851 mock-up. The first two of these tests are traditional methods designed to assess the potential of upholstered furniture components to being ignited by cigarettes while the last one, NIST 851 mock-up, is a new method designed to assess the propensity of cigarettes to ignite upholstered furniture composites. The traditional methods, ASTM E1352 and ASTM E1353 use a single cigarette for each determination and can be run in two ways: to obtain a numerical output of char length on the substrate (following the standard) or to obtain a pass/fail result for the substrate (practical use); the precision was analysed in both fashions. The new method, NIST 851 mock-up, uses 144 cigarettes for each determination (48 each on three substrate composites), and assesses the fraction of substrates that have been ignited (char length exceeding 10 mm), i.e. by a combination of pass/fail data. The analysis for actual char length was made according to ASTM E691 guidelines, while the analysis of the pass/fail was made according to a modification applicable to binary data. Activation-induced deaminase (AID) is required for somatic hypermutation in immunoglobulin genes, but also induces off-target mutations. Follicular lymphoma (FL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the most frequent types of indolent B-cell tumors, are exposed to AID activity during lymphomagenesis. We designed a workflow integrating de novo mutational signatures extraction and fitting of COSMIC (Catalogue Of Somatic Mutations In Cancer) signatures, with tridimensional chromatin conformation data (Hi-C). We applied the workflow to exome sequencing data from lymphoma samples. In 33 FL and 30 CLL samples, 42% and 34% of the contextual mutations could be traced to a known AID motif. We demonstrate that both CLL and FL share mutational processes dominated by spontaneous deamination, failures in DNA repair, and AID activity. The processes had equiproportional distribution across active and nonactive chromatin compartments in CLL. In contrast, canonical AID activity and failures in DNA repair pathways in FL were significantly higher within the active chromatin compartment. Analysis of DNA repair genes revealed a higher prevalence of base excision repair gene mutations (p = 0.02) in FL than CLL. These data indicate that AID activity drives the genetic landscapes of FL and CLL. However, the final result of AID-induced mutagenesis differs between these lymphomas depending on chromatin compartmentalization and mutations in DNA repair pathways.  相似文献

The size distribution of a particle suspension can be inferred from studying the diffracted light pattern produced by a laser beam that passes through the suspension. This involves solving an ill-posed linear system. Two previous versions of projection algorithms were tested by use of computer simulations and experiments. Both algorithms showed limitations in restoring the size distribution, because of either the shape of the size distribution or the presence of noise in the scattered light signal. The generalized projection algorithm presented in this work solves these difficulties by introducing a parameter that allows the user to adjust the noise-resolution trade-off, making it suitable for the analysis of natural suspensions.  相似文献

This work presents one-dimensional numerical results for combustion of an air/methane mixture in inert porous media using laminar and radiation models. Comparisons with experimental data are reported. The burner is composed by a preheating section followed by a combustion region. Macroscopic equations for mass, momentum and energy are obtained based on the volume average concept. Distinct energy equations are considered for the porous burner and the flowing gas. The numerical technique employed for discretizing the governing equations was the control volume method with a boundary-fitted non-orthogonal coordinate system. The SIMPLE algorithm was used to relax the entire equation set. Inlet velocity, excess air, porosity and solid-to-fluid thermal conductivity ratio were varied in order to investigate their effect on temperature profiles. Results indicate that higher inlet velocities result in higher gas temperatures, following a similar trend observed in the experimental data used for comparisons. Burning of mixtures close to the stoichiometric conditions also increased temperatures, as expected. Increasing the thermal conductivity of the preheating section reduced peak temperature in the combustion region. The use of porous material with very high thermal conductivity on the combustion region did not affect significantly temperature levels in the combustion section.  相似文献

Electrification systems based on renewable energy have proven suitable for providing electricity autonomously to rural communities. Among the technical options available, wind systems are increasingly getting attention. In the northern mountains of Peru, at 3800 m.a.s.l., three community wind electrification projects have been implemented. The technical solutions used in each project are different: wind vs. hybrid photovoltaic-wind systems; individual equipment vs. microgrids. This study aims to describe, evaluate and compare these three small-scale community wind electrification projects. The evaluation of the three projects was carried out by comparing previous and present scenario; attention has been focused on project design and technical aspects, socio-economic impacts and sustainability and management model. These three examples shed light on both the advantages and disadvantages of different technological options as well as on appropriate community-level management models.  相似文献

The present paper describes the utilization of polypyrrole and the composite of polypyrrole doped with nickel hydroxide modified electrodes toward the catalytic oxidation of ascorbate. Films were potentiostatically deposited onto a glassy carbon surface and Fluor-doped tin oxide glass for different times. The physical characterization was performed using the low angle X-ray diffraction technique. Furthermore, the films were electrochemically characterized using cyclic voltammetry. The X-ray diffraction results show the existence of different polymorphic phases of nickel hydroxide in the polymer matrix, and the β-Ni(OH)2 phase appears to be dominant. The cyclic voltammetry profile in KOH solution shows the presence of two redox peaks that are related to the NiII/NiIII and NiIII/NiII couples, at approximately 0.5 and 0.35 V, respectively. The reversible electro-oxidation of ascorbate was observed on the surface of the polypyrrole and composite films. The analytical curves obtained using voltammetric techniques show a linear relationship between the faradaic current and the increase of the ascorbic acid concentration. The sensitivity of these films, which is obtained from the slope of the analytical curves, shows that the composite film is more electroactive than the polypyrrole film: 133.4 mA L mol− 1 cm− 2 and 83.8 mA L mol− 1 cm− 2, respectively. The rate constants of the catalytic ascorbate electro-oxidation were also reported, where the mean values were found to be 217.74 M− 1 s− 1 and 54.37 M− 1 s− 1, for the composite and polypyrrole films, respectively. The low cost of polypyrrole doped with Ni(OH)2 composite electrodes presents a more selective and high sensitivity to determine ascorbic acid concentration.  相似文献

A junction and drop-shaft boundary conditions (BCs) for one-dimensional modeling of transient flows in single-phase conditions (pure liquid) are formulated, implemented and their accuracy are evaluated using two computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models. The BCs are formulated in the case when mixed flows are simulated using two sets of governing equations, the Saint-Venant equations for the free-surface regions and the compressible water hammer equations for the pressurized regions. The proposed BCs handle all possible flow regimes and their combinations. The flow in each pipe can range from free surface to pressurized flow and the water depth at the junction or drop shaft can take on all possible levels. The BCs are applied to the following three cases: (1) a three-way merging flow; (2) a three-way dividing flow; and (3) a drop shaft connected to a single-horizontal pipe subjected to a rapid variation of the water surface level in the drop shaft. The flow regime for the first two cases range from free surface to pressurized flows, while for the third case, the flow regime is pure pressurized flow. For the third case, laboratory results as well as CFD results were used for evaluating its accuracy. The results suggest that the junction and drop-shaft BCs can be used for modeling transient free-surface, pressurized, and mixed flow conditions with good accuracy.  相似文献

This work shows a simple, single-stage, scalable method for the continuous production of high-quality carbon nanotube-polymer transparent conductive films from carbon feedstock. Besides the ease of scalability, a particular advantage of this process is that the concentration of nanotubes in the films, and thus transparency and conductivity, can be adjusted by changing simple process parameters. Therefore, films can be readily prepared for any application desired, ranging from solar cells to flat panel displays. Our best results show a surface resistivity of the order of 300 Ω square-1 for a film with 80% transparency, which is promising at this early stage of process development.  相似文献
