This study reports an experimental investigation on hydrodynamics and mass transfer characteristics in a 15.6x10-3 m3 external loop airlift reactor for oil-in-water micro-emulsions with oil to water volume ratio (φ) rang- ing from 3% to 7% (by volume). For comparative purposes, experiments were also carried out with water. Increase in φ of micro-emulsion systems results in an increment in the gas holdup and a decrease in the volumetric gas-liquid oxygen transfer coefficient and liquid circulation velocity, attributed to the escalation in the viscosity of mi- cro-emulsions. The gas holdup and volumetric mass transfer coefficient for micro-emulsion systems are signifi- cantly higher than that of water system. We performed surface modification of ultra‐high‐molecular‐weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) through chromic acid etching, with the aim of improving the performance of its composites with poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fibers. In this article, we report on the morphology and physicomechanical and tribological properties of modified UHMWPE/PET composites. Composites containing chemically modified UHMWPE had higher impact properties than those based on unmodified UHMWPE because of improved interfacial bonding between the polymer matrix and the fibers and better dispersion of the fibers within the modified UHMWPE matrix. Chemical modification of UHMWPE before the introduction of PET fibers resulted in composites exhibiting improved wear resistance compared to the base material and compared to unmodified UHMWPE/PET composites. On the basis of the morphological studies of worn samples, microploughing and fatigue failure associated with microcracking were identified as the principle wear mechanisms. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper proposes a stochastic multi-objective model for integration of distributed generations (DGs) in distribution networks. The proposed model determines the optimal location and size of DGs by optimising different objective functions dependently and simultaneously subject to the operating constraints. If proper sizes of DGs are located in suitable sites and are also managed properly they can improve integrity, reliability and efficiency of the system. Regarding the widespread impact of uncertainties, some strategies must be devised in order to incorporate them well into power system modelling and hence achieve the best possible strategy to be adopted which its characteristics keep closer to reality. The most important uncertainties in network planning are load forecasting and market price errors. The proposed scheme is solved using non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms II, allowing the distribution company (DisCo) to exercise his/her personal preferences. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, simulations are carried out on a 33-bus distribution network and finally the attained results are discussed.  相似文献

A novel multilevel current source inverter (MCSI) configuration is introduced in this paper. The ability of handling with asymmetrical DC sources is one of the substantial advantages of the proposed inverter. In asymmetric mode, by appropriate selection of DC sources magnitude, a considerable increase can be obtained in the number of output levels without any manipulation on inverters’ hardware. In MCSIs, the number of required circuit devices is very important because the overall costs, circuit size, reliability and control complexity are dependent on them directly. The proposed inverter can generate all desired current levels using a lower number of elements. Besides, it is known that reduction of number of switches from conventional inverters imposes an undesired increase in total semiconductor device power (SDP). But, the total SDP of the proposed inverter is kept equal to conventional inverter. To validate the superiority of the proposed inverter, a full comparison is provided. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to obtain information about the number of components in the complex formation equilibria of Co(2+) and Ni(2+) with glycine (Gly). In order to obtain a clearer insight into these complex formation systems, multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (MCR-ALS) was used. Using MCR-ALS as a soft-modeling method, well-defined concentration and spectral profiles were obtained under unimodality, non-negativity, and closure constraints. Based on the obtained results, an equilibrium model was proposed and subsequently, a hard-modeling method was used to resolve the complex formation equilibria completely. Due to the presence of multiple equilibria, the resolution of such systems is very difficult. The Co-Gly system was best described by a model consisting of M(GlyH), M(Gly), M(Gly)(2), M(Gly)(2)H, and M(Gly)(3) (M = Co(2+)) with the overall stability constants determined to be 7.10 ± 0.011, 5.14 ± 0.006, 9.28 ± 0.009, 13.75 ± 0.016, and 11.10 ± 0.010, respectively. On the other hand, the system of Ni-Gly was best fitted by a model containing M(GlyH), M(Gly), M(Gly)(2), M(Gly)(3), and M(Gly)(2)(OH) (M = Ni(2+)) with overall stability constants of 10.95 ± 0.04, 6.41 ± 0.03, 11.31 ± 0.03, 15.39 ± 0.06, and 14.32 ± 0.02, respectively.  相似文献

A number of aqueous polyurethane dispersions based on polytetramethylene glycol (PTMG), 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BDO), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) and diisocyanates of differing structures such as toluene diisocyanate (TDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), and dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (H12MDI) were prepared. IR Spectroscopy was used to check the end of polymerization reaction and also the polymer characterization. The effects of diisocyanate structure on the particle size, contact angle, mechanical and thermal properties of the emulsion-cast films were studied. Average particle size of prepared polyurethane emulsions change by different diisocyanate based polyurethane. TDI based PU shows higher average particle size and contact angle than the others. Tensile strength, hardness, and elongation at break were higher in the case of MDI based polyurethane. Thermal property and thermal stability is also affected by variation of diisocyanate molecular structure.  相似文献

A theoretical model for geometrically nonlinear vibration analysis of piezoelectrically actuated circular plates made of functionally grade material (FGM) is presented based on Kirchhoff’s-Love hypothesis with von-Karman type geometrical large nonlinear deformations. To determine the initial stress state and pre-vibration deformations of the smart plate a nonlinear static problem is solved followed by adding an incremental dynamic state to the pre-vibration state. The derived governing equations of the structure are solved by exact series expansion method combined with perturbation approach. The material properties of the FGM core plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to the power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Control of the FGM plate’s nonlinear deflections and natural frequencies using high control voltages is studied and their nonlinear effects are evaluated. Numerical results for FG plates with various mixture of ceramic and metal are presented in dimensionless forms. In a parametric study the emphasis is placed on investigating the effect of varying the applied actuator voltage as well as gradient index of FGM plate on vibration characteristics of the smart structure. In this paper, a free vibration analysis of moderately thick circular functionally graded (FG) plate integrated with two thin piezoelectric (PZT4) layers is presented based on Mindlin plate theory. The material properties of the FG core plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction, while the distribution of electric potential field along the thickness of piezoelectric layers is simulated by sinusoidal function. The differential equations of motion are solved analytically for two boundary conditions of the plate: clamped edge and simply supported edge. The analytical solution is validated by comparing the obtained resonant frequencies with those of an isotropic host plate. The emphasis is placed on investigating the effect of varying the gradient index of FG plate on the free vibration characteristics of the structure. Good agreement between the results of this paper and those of the finite element analyses validated the presented approach.  相似文献
