We report a simple method for shape-controlled synthesis of iron oxide spinels such as magnetite (Fe3O4) and maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) nanostructures using a thermoresponsive polymer poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME) by the alkaline hydrolysis of iron salt at low temperature (20 °C). Microscopic analysis confirmed the formation of needle- and flower-shaped iron oxide nanostructures depending on reaction conditions. High-resolution transmission electron microscopic analysis of the needle- and flower-shaped nanostructures as well as their corresponding selected area electron diffraction patterns revealed that the formed nanostructures are crystalline in nature. X-ray diffraction study reveals the formation of well-crystalline pure Fe3O4 and γ-Fe2O3 nanostructures under different reaction conditions. Fourier transform Infra-red spectroscopic analysis confirms the adsorption of PVME on the surface of iron oxide nanostructures. Finally, the magnetic properties of γ-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 nanostructures is studied that shows the superparamagnetic behavior of the formed iron oxide nanostructures.  相似文献

Flavonoids are a group of naturally occurring polyphenolic secondary metabolites which have been reported to demonstrate a wide range of pharmacological properties, most importantly, antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory effects. The relationship between hyperglycaemia and inflammation and vascular complications in diabetes is now well established. Flavonoids possessing antidiabetic properties may alleviate inflammation by reducing hyperglycaemia through different mechanisms of action. It has been suggested that the flavonoids’ biochemical properties are structure-dependent; however, they are yet to be thoroughly grasped. Hence, the main aim of this review is to understand the antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory properties of various structurally diverse flavonoids and to identify key positions responsible for the effects, their correlation, and the effect of different substitutions on both antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory properties. The general requirement of flavonoids for exerting both anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic effects is found to be the presence of a C2–C3 double bond (C-ring) and hydroxyl groups at the C3’, C4’, C5, and C7 positions of both rings A and B of a flavonoid skeleton. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that substitution at the C3 position of a C-ring decreases the anti-inflammatory action of flavonoids while enhancing their antidiabetic activity. Correlation is discussed at length to support flavonoids possessing essential pharmacophores to demonstrate equipotent effects. The consideration of these structural features may play an important role in synthesizing better flavonoid-based drugs possessing dual antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory effects. A meta-analysis further established the role of flavonoids as antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory agents.  相似文献

Microalloying elements like Nb and V are added to modified 9Cr-1Mo steel to ensure excellent creep resistance by the formation of fine MX precipitates during tempering treatment. The effect of those elements on the evolution of microstructure (and texture) in hot-deformed steel has hardly been studied. Industrial processing of modified 9Cr-1Mo steel often develops deformed and elongated prior-austenite grain structure, which can be detrimental from property point of view. The present study shows that the formation of such structure can primarily be attributed to the pinning effect from strain-induced Nb(C,N) precipitation, which can effectively retard the static recrystallization of deformed-γ at high-deformation temperature and short inter-pass times (~10 seconds). Based on the results, the application of either heavy deformation pass at high-temperature or multiple-lighter passes maintaining sufficient inter-pass interval (30 to 50 seconds) is recommended to achieve fine and equiaxed γ-grain structure by dynamic recrystallization and static recrystallization, respectively.

Bioceramic scaffolds have a promising application in bone-tissue engineering field. However, bioceramic scaffolds exhibit low fracture toughness; hence, to overcome this problem, hierarchical bioceramic scaffold or bioceramic scaffolds coated with polymer are produced. Starting with the fundamental requirements for bioceramic scaffold, this article provides detailed information on recent developments of method to produce porous bioceramics scaffold and hierarchical bioceramic scaffold. Chemical modifications to enhance interfacial adhesion and formation of interpenetrating network structures between the bioceramic scaffold and the natural polymer layer are discussed in this article. Gross pollutants are the primary targeted pollutants in urban catchment management for urban water quality improvement as well as mitigation of flood. Apart from aesthetically unattractive because of its visibility, gross pollutants also contributes to degradation of river water quality and loss of aquatic habitat as it carries harmful pollutants such as oxygen demanding material, hydrocarbons and heavy metals. This study analyzed trend of gross pollutant generated from two urban residential areas located in Selangor, Malaysia. The median value of gross pollutant load obtained fi'om the Amanah Apartment and Bandar Botanic are 347.41 kg/ha/year and 32.46 kg/ha/year, respectively. Relationship between gross pollutant wet load with rainfall depths was derived using regression equation. A significant trend of increasing gross pollutant wet load into drainage system with increasing rainfall depth was observed. The behavior of pollutant load is related to the one observed in Australia.  相似文献

The Sn-rich portion of the phase diagram for the Ni-Pd-Sn ternary system was preliminarily obtained by interpolation of the three constituent binary systems using the Muggianu method. Based on this proposition, 23 Ni-Pd-Sn alloys were prepared and annealed at 250°C. The annealed alloys were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, electron backscatter diffraction, and x-ray diffraction. All the binaries adjacent to the Sn-rich corner (i.e., PdSn4, PdSn3, PdSn2, and Ni3Sn4) were found to have remarkable ternary solubility. The experimental results presented herein, together with a thermodynamic interpolation of the ternary system based on the results from the binary systems, were used to calculate the ternary phase diagram using the calculation of phase diagrams (CALPHAD) method. A substitution model was used to describe the Gibbs free energies of the liquid and solid solution phases, and a sublattice model was used to describe intermetallic compounds. A consistent set of thermodynamic parameters was obtained, ultimately leading to a better fit between the calculated results and the experimental data for this system.  相似文献
