This study evaluates the effect of pre-existing relational governance mechanisms on environmental collaboration. Specifically, our study distinguishes between structural and process dimensions of relational governance mechanisms so as to facilitate a more nuanced investigation into the inherent complementarities and performance implications. Using data collected from 145 US firms and a combination of methodologies – three-stage least squares and structural equation modelling, a number of direct, complementary and mediation effects are hypothesised and tested. The three-stage least squares methodology was adopted to overcome endogeneity and simultaneity issues inherent in the hypotheses covering complementarity. Contrary to conventional wisdom, structural and process governance mechanisms were not found to act as complements for environmental collaboration. Instead, the effect of structural mechanisms was found to be completely mediated by the process mechanisms. Thus, process mechanisms of relational governance were found to be much more important in promoting advanced practices such as environmental collaboration. Our results also document the significant mediating role of environmental collaboration. Implications for future research and practice are offered.  相似文献

Chemical modification of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) by dehydrochlorination with ethanolic KOH is found to yield modified PVC with conjugated polyene sequence. The semiconducting nature of ethoxide-modified PVC is illustrated with temperature dependence of conductivity (σ). The relative ratios (r) of conductivity,σ modifiedpvc /σ unmodifiedpvc , are greater than unity in the temperature range 50° to 180°C,r being maximum in the vicinity of glass-transition temperature (T g).T g inferred from conductivity-temperature profiles is found to be greater for modified PVC relative to unmodified PVC, which is explicable in terms of restricted free rotation limiting segmental motion. For comparison with the conductivity andT g of ethoxide-modified PVC, LiCl-modified PVC and (aniline + S2O 8 2− )-modified PVC have also been studied.  相似文献

Helminth infections in humans and animals are associated with strong T helper 2 (Th2) responses. To determine whether parasite-derived Ag preferentially expand a Th2-like cell population, a filter immunoplaque assay was used to enumerate the frequencies (F0) of PBMC and CD4(+)-enriched PBMC from individuals with helminth infections secreting selected cytokines in response to parasite-derived (PAg) and nonparasite antigens (NPAg). In 20 individuals with lymphatic filariasis, frequency analysis of PBMC secreting IL-4 and IFN-gamma indicated that the F0 of PAg-specific IL-4-secreting cells (geometric mean F0 (GM): 1/12,100) was 57-fold higher than the corresponding F0 of NPAg-reactive cells (GM: 1/692,000; p < 0.02). In marked contrast, the F0 of IFN-gamma-secreting cells responding to PAg (GM: 1/2,700) did not differ from those of cells specific for NAPg (GM: 1/3,400; p = 0.83). In another group of helminth-infected individuals, the F0 of highly enriched CD4+ cells secreting IL-4 and IL-5 in response to PAg (GMs: 1/2,600 and 1/5,600 CD4+ cells, respectively) were also found to be significantly higher than those specific for NPAg (GMs: 1/291,000 and 1/303,000 CD4+; p < 0.05 and p < 0.01, respectively), whereas the corresponding F0 of IFN-gamma- and granulocyte-macrophage-CSF-secreting cells were equivalent for PAg and NPag. Furthermore, the proportion of PAg-specific IL-4- and IL-5-secreting CD4+ cells relative to all cells secreting the given cytokine were approximately 29-fold higher than the proportion of NPAg-specific cells secreting these cytokines. Again, the corresponding proportions of Ag-specific IFN-gamma-and GM-CSF-secreting CD4+ cells were equivalent for PAg and NPAg. Thus, in this ex vivo system, a circulating population of IL-4- and IL-5-secreting (Th2-like) cells has been shown to exist in humans; PAg appears to expand these cells preferentially.  相似文献

DriedMusa paradiciaca (banana) stem and veins of the leaves, which were hitherto discarded as a waste, were collected and used as starting material for the preparation of cellulose and cellulose acetate. This cellulose acetate was mixed with polystyrene to form blend of cellulose acetate-polystyrene in order to provide enhanced stability and extended utility to the end products. The films of these composites or their individual partners were made separately and studied for their mechanical properties, chemical modification and morphological changes. We report here that banana stem is good source of cellulose and that cellulose completely undergoes modification upon esterification.  相似文献

Summary The effect of the irreversible boundary reaction on the dispersion of tracers in annular flows is studied. The solution of the mathematical model, based on the generalized dispersion model, brings out the dispersive transport following the injection of a tracer in terms of the three effective transport coefficients, viz. the exchange, the convection and the dispersion coefficients. It is found that the exchange and the convection coefficients are enhanced while the dispersion coefficient is reduced with the increase in the value of the absorption parameter.The mathematical model is applied to a specific problem in clinical medicine: dispersion of solutes in blood flow in a catheterized artery. The model predicts that the insertion of a catheter in general and any further increase in its size will enhance the process of the dyes or other solutes getting out of the blood vessels, and this is found to be independent of the absorption parameter representing the absorption properties of the blood vessel wall.  相似文献

The theories for modulus and strength of short fibre-reinforced composite materials are based on the calculation of the force sustained by fibres crossing an arbitrary line perpendicular to the applied load, called the scan line, in a thin, rectangular specimen. The widely referenced Fukuda-Kawata modulus theory and the Fukuda-Chou strength theory are based on an apparently incorrect procedure for the calculation of the force sustained by the fibres crossing the scan line. The error is explained in detail by comparing the Fukuda-Kawata modulus theory and the Cox modulus theory. The magnitude of this error is calculated for specific cases.  相似文献

Nano-sized 3C-SiC was synthesized using sol-gel method. The silica bearing sol was prepared using fumed silica and alkaline ethylene glycol which on hydrolysis resulted in a gel. The gel was mixed with nano-sized carbon particles (obtained from soot) and heat treated in 1300-1580 °C temperature range. The formation of 3C-SiC began at ~ 1400 °C and at 1580 °C it was observed to be the major phase while small amount of 2H-SiC was also present. The silicon carbide synthesized between 1400 and 1580 °C had particles in 30-50 nm range and crystallite size between 15 and 17 nm.  相似文献

The present paper reports the effect of B- and BN-doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\) as catalysts for lowering the dehydrogenation energy in \(\hbox {MXH}_{4}\) clusters (M = Na and Li, X = Al and B) using density functional calculations. \(\hbox {MXH}_{4}\) interacts strongly with B-doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\) and weakly with BN-doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\) in comparison with pure \(\hbox {C}_{60}\) with binding energy 0.56–0.80 and 0.05–0.34 eV, respectively. The hydrogen release energy \((E_{\mathrm{HRE}})\) of \(\hbox {MXH}_{4}\) decreases sharply in the range of 38–49% when adsorbed on B-doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\); however, with BN-doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\) the decrease in the \(E_{\mathrm{HRE}}\) varies in the range of 6–20% as compared with pure \(\hbox {MXH}_{4}\) clusters. The hydrogen release energy of second hydrogen atom in \(\hbox {MXH}_{4}\) decreases sharply in the range of 1.7–41% for BN-doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\) and decreases in the range of 0.2–11.3% for B-doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\) as compared with pure \(\hbox {MXH}_{4}\) clusters. The results can be explained on the basis of charge transfer within \(\hbox {MXH}_{4}\) cluster and with the doped \(\hbox {C}_{60}\).  相似文献

In the present work, solid-state reaction and sol–gel route derived pure tin oxide (SnO2) powders have been used to develop the palladium (Pd)-doped SnO2 thick film sensors for detection of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Efforts have been made to study the gas sensing characteristics i.e., sensor response, response/recovery time and repeatability of the thick film sensors. The response of the sensors has been investigated at different operating temperatures from 200 to 350 °C in order to optimise the operating temperature which yields the maximum response upon exposure to fixed concentration of LPG. The optimum temperature is kept constant to facilitate the gas sensing characteristics as a function of the various concentration (0.25–5 vol%) of LPG. The structural and microstructural properties of Pd-doped SnO2 powder and developed sensors have been studied by performing X-ray diffraction and field emission electron microscopy measurements. The improvement in the response along with better response and recovery time have been correlated to the reduction in crystallite size of SnO2 powder and morphology of printed sensor in thick film form. It is found that the thick film sensor developed by using sol–gel route derived SnO2 powder with an optimum doping of 1 wt% Pd is extremely sensitive (86 %) to LPG at 350 °C.  相似文献
