This research explores mechanical and high velocity impact response of hybrid long carbon/glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene thermoplastic composites (HLFT) with different fiber lengths. The work examines three hybrid long fiber thermoplastic composites, i.e., 5, 10 and 20 mm. The HLFTs were prepared by a combination of extrusion and pultrusion processes and using a cross-head die. Tensile and Izod impact tests were carried out to evaluate the mechanical performance of each HLFT compound. A gas gun with a spherical projectile was used to conduct high velocity impact tests at three velocities of 144, 205 and 240 m/s. The results showed that internal mixing operation caused extensive reduction in fiber length of all three LFT lengths. Tensile strength, modulus and Izod impact test results were the indications of higher values with increase in HLFT length. Comparison of these results for the HLFT with that of corresponding glass/PP LFTs, adopted from earlier work by Shayan Asenjan et al. (J Compos Mater 53:353–360, 2019), showed better performance of HLFT. The high velocity impact results showed a steady higher impact performance with the increase in HFLT fiber length for all impact velocities tested. Comparison of HLFT high velocity impact performance revealed better results for all impact velocities tested with that of the corresponding glass/PP LFT composite. 相似文献

Direct extraction of molybdenum from sulfate solution with synergistic extractants (mixture of D2EHPA and TBP) was studied in the rotation column. The influence of extractant concentration and initial pH of aqueous phase was studied in the bench scale experiments. The outcomes demonstrated that the synergistic solvent extraction enhances the constancy of the extracted complexes for transfer into the organic phase. In the continuous experiments, the effect of different operating parameters such as speed of agitation, inlet solvent flow rate and inlet aqueous flow rate on the holdup, mean drop size, drop size distribution, slip and characteristic velocities and extraction percentage were examined. Modified correlations were proposed for prediction of hydrodynamic parameters with consideration of reaction extraction condition in the rotation column. Furthermore, these correlations were compared with the experimental data. According to the results, the direct extraction of Mo (VI) from aqueous solution and sulfuric media with extraction efficiency of 90.4% was obtained at higher rotor speed (240 r·min-1 rpm) in this column. 相似文献

Cobalt-based catalysts were prepared by precipitation method. This research investigated the effects of different supports cobalt loading, promoters, loading of promoters and calcination conditions on the catalytic performance of cobalt catalysts for Fisher-Tropsch synthesis (FTS). It was found that the catalyst containing 40 wt.% Co/TiO2 promoted with 6 wt.% Zn was an optimal catalyst for the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons especially light olefins. The activity and selectivity of optimal catalyst were studied in different operational conditions. The results showed that the best operational conditions were the H2/CO = 2/1 molar feed ratio at 240 °C and GHSV = 1100 h−1 under atmospheric pressure. Characterization of catalysts were carried out by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), hydrogen temperature program reduction (H2-TPR), N2 physisorption measurements such as Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) methods. 相似文献

Abnormal activation of Toll-like receptor (TLRs) signaling can result in colon cancer development. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of important TLRs in different histological types of colorectal polyps and evaluate their relationship with intestinal microbiota. The expression levels of TLR2, 3, 4, and 5 were analyzed in intestinal biopsy specimens of 21 hyperplastic polyp (HP), 16 sessile serrated adenoma (SSA), 29 tubular adenoma (TA), 21 villous/tubulovillous (VP/TVP) cases, and 31 normal controls. In addition, selected gut bacteria including Streptococcus bovis, Enterococcus faecalis, Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis (ETBF), Fusobacterium nucleatum, Porphyromonas spp., Lactobacillus spp., Roseburia spp., and Bifidobacterium spp. were quantified in fecal samples using absolute qRT PCR, and, finally, the association between TLRs and these gut microbiota- was evaluated by Spearman’s correlation coefficient. Higher expression of TLR2 and TLR4 in VP/TVP and TA, and lower expression levels of TLR3 and TLR5 in all type of polyps were observed. The differences in TLR expression patterns was not only dependent on the histology, location, size, and dysplasia grade of polyps but also related to the intestinal microbiota patterns. TLR2 and TLR4 expression was directly associated with the F. nucleatum, E. faecalis, S. bovis, Porphyromonas, and inversely to Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, and Roseburia quantity. Furthermore, TLR3 and TLR5 expression was directly associated with Bifidobacterium, Roseburia, and Lactobacillus quantity. Our results suggest a possible critical role of TLRs during colorectal polyp progression. An abnormal regulation of TLRs in relation to gut microbial quantity may contribute to carcinogenesis. 相似文献

In this work, TiO2 and ZnO were incorporated successfully into a MIL-53(Al) metal–organic framework (MOF) to form nanocomposites via a facile post-modification technique. The hybrid MIL-53(Al)@TiO2 and MIL-53(Al)@ZnO were characterized by several characterization tests. The X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analyses showed evidence of the successful incorporation of TiO2 and ZnO within the MIL-53(Al) framework. The thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) analysis demonstrated the excellent thermal stability of MIL-53(Al)@TiO2 and MIL-53(Al)@ZnO, while diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) determined the direct optical band gaps of MIL-53(Al)@ZnO and MIL-53(Al)@TiO2 to be 3.24 and 3.34 eV, respectively. The composites were also tested for the photocatalytic degradation of diclofenac (DCF) as a micropollutant. The DCF degradation efficiency of the photocatalysts was ranked in the following order: MIL-53(Al)@TiO2 > MIL-53(Al) > TiO2 > ZnO > MIL-53(Al)@ZnO. The incorporation of TiO2 enhanced the optical properties of MIL-53 (Al), which was confirmed with the superior photodegradation efficiency of MIL-53(Al)@TiO2 (>85% in 2 h) as compared to the pristine MIL-53(Al) (around 80% in 2 h). The improvement in the photodegradation of the hybrid-MOF is mostly associated with the possible dual function of the adsorption and photodegradation mechanisms. The reusability of MIL-53(Al) and its composites was inspected over 3 cycles of photodegradation experiments with DCF. The photocatalytic activity of MIL-53(Al)@TiO2 remained unchanged (>90%), while for MIL-53(Al) and MIL-53(Al)@ZnO a slight drop was observed over three cyclic degradation experiments. Fluorescence measurements revealed that the hydroxyl radical is an important reactive oxygen species produced by all the photocatalysts that aid in the photodegradation of DCF. Furthermore, the kinetic modelling of the photoreaction identified a second-order kinetics for all catalysts. Experiments with scavengers showed that hydroxyl radicals played a major role in the photocatalytic process, and it was found that only 2 h of treatment was sufficient to obtain a considerable chemical oxygen demand (COD) reduction of 58%. 相似文献

This study aims to investigate polysulfone (PSF) mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) properties containing zirconium-based and titanium-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). for hemodialysis application. The nanoparticles were synthesized, and the membranes were produced by the phase inversion method. Membrane characterization conducted by attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), field emission Scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive x-ray analysis (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) confirmed the presence of MOF nanoparticles. Also, the evaluation of the specific surface area of nanoparticles was done by BET. The water contact angle reduced from 64.4° to 51.2°, indicating the hydrophilicity improvement, enhancing the pure water flux from 46.8 L/m2h for the pristine membrane to 76.7 L/m2h for the pristine membrane M4. The total fouling resistance decreased from 30% to 21%, and the bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption of modified membranes was lower than that of the pristine membrane. Urea and creatinine were cleared significantly for modified ones, up to 82.6% and 72.1%, respectively, and all membranes showed BSA retention of more than 93%. A comparison between MMMs that contained UIO-66-NH2 and MIL-125-NH2 showed that the former had a better effect on the performance. M4 had better results, indicating high water flux, the lowest fouling resistance, high porosity, lower BSA adsorption, proper clearance for urea and creatinine, and 94.2% BSA retention. 相似文献

Water uptake characteristics and some mechanical properties of polypropylene composites containing three types of natural fillers, purified α‐cellulose, wastepaper fibers, and wood flour were studied. The fiber contents were 15, 25, and 35% by weight. Two percent maleic anhydride polypropylene (MAPP) was also added to the mix, as the compatibilizer agent. Mixing process was performed in a Brabender Plasticorder until a constant torque was reached. Composites made out of these combinations were then pressed in a laboratory press and ASTM standard test specimens were cut out of the sheets. Water absorption and tensile tests were performed on these specimens. The results showed a significant difference between the various filler types regarding water uptake. Water uptake also increased by the increase in filler content. Tensile strength and elongation at break in composites declined when compared with pure polypropylene, but their modulus of elasticity increased. Among the three types of fillers, no significant discrepancies were observed in terms of improving mechanical properties in composites. Alkylphenols(APs), considered as xenoestrogenic compounds, mainly exist as 4-nonylphenol(4-NP) and 4-tertoctylphenol(4-t-OP) in environments. The high stability and accumulation of APs in aquatic systems have caused endocrine disruption. In this study we measured APs in the wastewater influent and effluent samples, from the urban, rural, livestock, commercial and hospital wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs) in Iran. Dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction(DLLME) combined with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS) was used for the extraction and determination of 4-NP and 4-t-OP. In these treatment plants, various processes such as activated sludge, aerated lagoon, moving bed biofilm reactor and activated sludge along with wetland were applied. The highest concentration of 4-NP and 4-t-OP was observed in commercial and livestock sewages. The activated sludge along with wetland and then the MBBR process showed the highest removal rates of pollutants. The rates of biodegradability and accumulation in sludge were determined and also the specific adsorption coefficient Kdand the organic carbon–water partition coefficient kOCof the sludge for APs were calculated. 相似文献

Taguchi design of experiments methodology was used to determine the most influential spark plasma sintering (SPS) parameters on densification of TiB2–SiC ceramic composites. In this case, four processing factors (SPS temperature, soaking time, applied external pressure and SiC particle size) at three levels were examined in order to acquire the optimum conditions. The statistical analysis identified the sintering temperature as the most effective factor influencing the relative density of TiB2–SiC ceramics. A relative density of 99.5% was achieved at the optimal SPS conditions; i.e. temperature of 1800?°C, soaking time of 15?min and pressure of 30?MPa by adding 200-nm SiC particulates to the TiB2 matrix. The experimental measurements and predicted values for the relative density of composite fabricated at the optimum SPS conditions and reinforced with the proper SiC particle size were almost similar. The mechanisms of sintering and densification of spark plasma sintered TiB2–SiC composites were discussed in details. 相似文献
