This contribution presents the introduction of laminated supporting tools in water jet incremental sheet metal forming (WJISMF) process. In WJISMF the main tool is a high-velocity water jet (WJ) instead of a rigid tool. The influence of the main tool trajectory on the forming outcome in WJISMF is observed and optimized in order to reduce the forming time and improve the product quality. Laminated tools are fabricated with abrasive water jet (AWJ) machining from aluminium plates of different thicknesses. The parts formed in this investigation are measured with a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and results are compared by means of forming time, parts symmetry and achieved geometry, which is defined with the supporting tool.  相似文献

One of the main challenges already faced by communication networks is the efficient management of increasing complexity. The recently proposed concept of cognitive network appears as a candidate that can address this issue. In this paper, we survey the existing research work on cognitive networks, as well as related and enabling techniques and technologies. We start with identifying the most recent research trends in communication networks and classifying them according to the approach taken towards the traditional layered architecture. In the analysis we focus on two related trends: cross-layer design and cognitive networks. We classify the cognitive networks related work in that mainly concerned with knowledge representation and that predominantly dealing with the cognition loop. We discuss the existing definitions of cognitive networks and, with respect to those, position our understanding of the concept. Next, we provide a summary of artificial intelligence techniques that are potentially suitable for the development of cognitive networks, and map them to the corresponding states of the cognition loop. We summarize and compare seven architectural proposals that comply with the requirements for a cognitive network. We discuss their relative merits and identify some future research challenges before we conclude with an overview of standardization efforts.  相似文献

In this paper we are concerned with broadband wireless access via high altitude platform system, providing the Internet access and broadband multimedia services to passengers equipped with WLAN terminals connecting through a collective terminal mounted on the train. The main challenge in such scenario is the development of efficient and reliable radio interface for the broadband communication link in the mobile wireless access segment. We are focusing on performance analysis of the adaptive coding and modulation scheme in the communication link between a high altitude platform and a collective terminal on-board moving train. In order to increase the reliability of the communication system in a fading environment we also exploit space and platform diversity. The proposed approach significantly increases the throughput of the wireless access system, while bit error rate remains below the target value regardless of the considered propagation environment.Tomaz Javornik received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1987, 1990 and 1993, respectively. He joined the Jozef Stefan Institute in 1987, where he currently works as a researcher in the Department of Digital Communications and Networks. He is involved in the study of digital radio-relay systems, modulation techniques, coding, adaptive signal processing and digital mobile communication systems.Mihael Mohorcic received B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1994, 1998 and 2002, respectively, and M.Phil. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Bradford, UK, in 1998. He is a research fellow in the Department of Digital Communications and Networks at the Jozef Stefan Institute. In 1996/1997 he spent 12 months as a Visiting Scientist at University of Bradford, Bradford, UK. His research interests include development and performance evaluation of network protocols and architectures for mobile and wireless communication systems, and resource management in satellite and high altitude platforms networks with the emphasis on routing algorithms and traffic engineering. He is a member of IEEE.Ales Svigelj received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1997, 2000 and 2003 respectively. He is a research associate in the Department of Digital Communications and Networks at the Jozef Stefan Institute. In 2000/2001 he spent one year as a visiting researcher at Leeds Metropolitan University in Leeds, UK. He has participated in several national and international projects. His research interests concern the development of telecommunications systems, network protocols and architectures for satellite, high altitude platforms and terrestrial mobile communication systems. In 2004 he was awarded with The Jozef Stefan Golden Emblem Prize for outstanding contributions made to science in Doctoral theses in the field of natural sciences in Slovenia.Igor Ozimek received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1980, 1988 and 1993, respectively. Since 1980 he has been with the Jozef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, where he works as a researcher. His current interests include digital communications,DSP processing and computer networks.Gorazd Kandus received B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1971, 1974 and 1991, respectively. He is currently the head of the Department of Digital Communications and Networks at the Jozef Stefan Institute and a Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Maribor. He spent one year at Worchester Polytechnic Institute, Worchester, MA, as a Fulbright Fellow and 5 months as a Visiting Scientist at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. His main research interests include design and simulation of mobile and wireless communication systems and development of new telecommunication services. Mur ligases participate in the intracellular path of bacterial peptidoglycan biosynthesis and constitute attractive, although so far underexploited, targets for antibacterial drug discovery. A series of hydroxy‐substituted 5‐benzylidenethiazolidin‐4‐ones were synthesized and tested as inhibitors of Mur ligases. The most potent compound 5 a was active against MurD–F with IC50 values between 2 and 6 μm, making it a promising multitarget inhibitor of Mur ligases. Antibacterial activity against different strains, inhibitory activity against protein kinases, mutagenicity and genotoxicity of 5 a were also investigated, and kinetic and NMR studies were conducted.  相似文献

Sensors and actuators are being increasingly deployed for monitoring and controlling different phenomena and processes in a stand-alone manner or attached to sensor nodes with communication capabilities as part of larger wireless sensor networks (WSN). In addition to the protocols for communication within the WSN, sensor nodes may also provide the gateway functionality towards other networks and/or support communication with other external devices. These devices either represent additional gateways for exposing data and metadata to external networks, or serve as connection points to WSN for instance for the on-site calibration and maintenance. Smartphones as advanced mobile terminals appear particularly suitable for such role. This paper investigates the role a smartphone augmented with WSN gateway functionality can play in WSN with respect to regular dedicated sensor and gateway nodes. As a practical example we show the implementation of a gateway augmented smartphone using a Samsung i8910 phone and a VESNA sensor node connected via Bluetooth. The role of a gateway augmented smartphone is to interface between WSN, which is using a proprietary networking protocol, and the mobile network. The data obtained from WSN can be enriched using smartphone’s embedded sensors before being sent to the remote server. We demonstrate this on an example of geo-tagging the collected data from WSN with the smartphone’s Global Positioning System-based location data.  相似文献

Micromixers are essential components of microreactor technology. In this paper, a simple two-step design protocol for patterned groove micromixers based on numerical simulations is presented. In the first step, one groove of the staggered herringbone micromixer (SHM) is designed based on the average magnitude of transversal velocity vAVGyz at the end of the groove. In the second step, different configurations of six grooves are investigated. A slightly better mixing is achieved compared to the established SHM and significantly fewer grooves are needed. Due to fewer grooves and rounded groove corners, the new design is easier to be produced by microengineering technologies (MET). Additionally, good mixing was also achieved with a modified slanted groove micromixer (SGM) configuration with the largest rounding radius at the edges. A SGM prototype was machined by micro EDM milling. The simulation results were experimentally verified with flow visualization and a good agreement was observed. The presented protocol vastly reduces the number of optimal patterned groove geometry configuration candidates to be evaluated; it is simple and effective for practical applications.  相似文献

In electrical discharge machining (EDM), appropriate average current in the gap has to be selected for the given machining surface in order to obtain the highest material removal rate at low electrode wear. Thus, rough machining parameters have to be selected according to the machining surface. In the case of sculptured features, the machining surface varies with the depth of machining. Hence, the machining parameters have to be selected on-line to obtain appropriate current density in the gap. In this paper, inductive machine learning is used to derive a model based on the voltage and current in the gap. The sufficient inputs to the model are only two discharge attributes extracted from the voltage signal in the gap. The model successfully selects between two machining parameter settings that obtain different average surface current in the gap. It requires only voltage signal acquisition during the machining process and a simple algorithm that is easy to implement on industrial machines.  相似文献

Our main objective in the present work is to develop a methodology and create a system for the abrasive water jet (AWJ) machining process control. In the case of AWJ cutting, besides the cutting head traverse rate, the distance between the mixing tube and the workpiece, designated as the stand-off distance, has a predominant influence on the workpiece quality. The control of the traverse rate is performed by the machine controller. The stand off-distance control during the machining represents a problem because no effective on-line in real-time stand-off distance detection system has been developed yet. The detection of the stand-off distance during cutting enables better AWJ machining process control. order to monitor the stand-off distance, we measure the emitted sound generated during the AWJ straight cut operation and analyse its characteristic attributes. In order to verify the proposed stand-off distance monitoring methods, a set of experiments was carried out. The signal analysis was performed in both time and frequency domain. The obtained results show an evident influence of the stand-off distance on sound emission. Thus, efficient control of the AWJ cutting process through sound detection appears to be viable.  相似文献
