The spatial distribution of interface traps in a p-type drain extended MOS transistor is experimentally determined by the analysis of variable base-level charge pumping spectra. The evolution of the interface trap distribution can be monitored as a function of the hot-carrier stress time. A double peaked interface trap density distribution, located in the spacer oxide, is extracted. The interface trap density in the poly overlapped drift region is constant as a function of stress time. No channel degradation is observed.  相似文献

This study examined factors impacting the stability of biodiesel (B100) samples collected as part of a 2004 nationwide fuel quality survey in the United States. Biodiesel is significantly less stable than petroleum diesel, so an understanding of the chemical and environmental factors affecting its degradation is required. The survey included samples produced from soy, waste oils, and tallow. The 27 samples were assessed for stability using the ASTM D2274 test for insoluble formation and the OSI method (via Rancimat apparatus) for induction time. Additionally, the samples were characterized for fatty acid make up, relative antioxidant content, metals content, and total glycerin content (free glycerin plus glycerin bound as mono-, di-, and triglycerides). For the samples examined here the polyunsaturated content (or oxidizability) has the largest impact on both increasing insoluble formation and reducing induction time. However, the formation of insolubles is also measurably decreased by increasing relative antioxidant content and increased by increasing total glycerin content. The OSI or Rancimat induction time is also increased by increasing relative antioxidant content, as expected.  相似文献

This study explored the potential of Raman spectroscopy for the analysis of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) in bacteria. PHB can be formed in large amounts by certain bacteria as a storage material and is of high importance for industrial biodegradable plastic production. Raman spectra were collected from Cupriavidus necator DSM 428 (H16), from its non-PHB-producing mutant strain C. necator DSM 541, and from pure PHB, in order to determine at which Raman shifts a contribution of PHB in bacterial spectra can be expected. The Raman band intensity at ca. 1734 cm(-1) appeared to be suitable for the monitoring of PHB production and consumption. These intensities were linearly related to the PHB concentration (mg L(-1) culture) determined by parallel HPLC analysis. Therefore, Raman spectroscopy is considered as a fast and noninvasive technique for the determination and monitoring of the PHB content in bacteria.  相似文献

This paper focusses on the application of the interval finite element method in dynamic analyses. It describes a methodology for calculating frequency response function envelopes from a finite element model containing imprecise parameters defined as interval uncertainties. The resulting envelope functions give a conservative approximation of the possible range of the frequency response function, taking into account that the uncertain parameters in the model can adopt any value in their presumed uncertainty intervals. The methodology is based on the modal superposition principle. It consists of an interval aritmethic algorithm which processes the results of a preliminary global optimization performed on the modal parameters. The algorithm is constructed such that it optimally combines the advantages of both the anti‐optimization and the interval arithmetic strategy for general numerical interval calculations. In the first stage of the development, the modal parameter ranges of each individual mode are independently combined in the modal response contributions. This yields the modal rectangle (MR) method. In order to remedy the high conservatism inherent to the MR method, the exact eigenfrequency ranges are added to the analysis. This results in the modal rectangle method with eigenfrequency interval correction (MRE). A second improvement consists of adding extra delimiters to the MRE modal parameter range approximation. This is achieved by performing an extra optimization on the modal response contributions at discrete frequencies. The method is referred to as the locally optimized modal rectangle method with eigenfrequency interval correction (OMRE). Finally, a numerical example illustrates the different algorithms. Next to laser ablation (LA) also electrothermal vaporization (ETV) from a graphite furnace as a means of sample introduction opens possibilities for direct analysis of solid samples using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS). In this paper, it is demonstrated that solid sampling ETV-ICPMS is very well suited for the determination of metal traces in polyethylene. A limited multielement capability is often cited as an important drawback of ETV-ICPMS. However, by studying the effect of monitoring an increasing number of mass-to-charge ratios on the signal profile (integrated signal intensity and repeatability) of selected analyte elements, the multielement capability of (solid sampling) ETV-ICPMS was systematically evaluated, and the results obtained suggest that, with a quadrupole-based ICPMS instrument, at least 11 elements can be determined "simultaneously" (from the same vaporization step), in essence without compromising the sensitivity or the precision of the results obtained. In this work, the "simultaneous" determination of Al, Ba, Cd, Cu, Mn, Pb, and Ti in a polyethylene candidate reference material has been accomplished, despite the large variation in analyte concentration (from 5 ng/g for Mn to 500 microg/g for Ti) and in furnace behavior (volatility) they exhibit. To avoid premature losses of Cd during thermal pretreatment of the samples, Pd was used as a chemical modifier. Two different calibration methods--external calibration using an aqueous standard solution and single standard addition--were studied and the results obtained were compared with those obtained using neutron activation analysis (NAA) and/or with the corresponding (candidate) certified values (if available). Single standard addition was shown to be preferable (average deviation between ICPMS result and reference value < 3%), although--except for Ba--acceptable results could also be obtained with external calibration.  相似文献

The quaternary structure of the cysteine-rich, approximately 3500-kDa chlorocruorin (Chl) from the marine polychaete Eudistylia vancouverii was investigated using maximum entropy deconvolution of the electrospray ionization mass spectra (ESIMS). The native Chl provided two groups of peaks, at approximately 25 and approximately 33 kDa, and one peak at approximately 66 kDa. ESIMS of the reduced and reduced and carbamidomethylated Chl and of its subunits obtained by HPLC provided the complete subunit composition of the Chl. Two groups of nonglobin linker chains were observed: L1a-f (25 000.4, 25 017.9, 25 039.6, 25 057.0, 25 074.4 and 25 096.8 Da) and L2a-d (25 402.7, 25 446.0, 25 461.6 and 25 478.3Da) (+/-2.5 Da), with relative intensities L1:L2 = 5:2. Six globin chains were found, a1, a2, and b1-4, with reduced masses of 16 051.5, 16 172.4, 16 853.5, 17 088.9, 17 161.2 and 17 103.6 (+/-1.0 Da) and relative intensities of 8:4:1:4:2:1, respectively. Disulfide-bonded dimers and a tetramer of globin chains were identified: D1 = a1 + b3 at 33 207.1; D2 at 33 374.1, which had a cysteinylated Cys (a2 + b2 + Cys); and D3 = a1 + b4 at 33 149.4 Da (+/-3.0 Da), with relative intensities D1:D2:D3 = 5:4:1 and T = a1 + a2 + b1 + b2 at 66 154.8 +/- 4.0 Da. A 206-kDa dodecamer subunit obtained by dissociation of the Chl in 4 M urea [Qabar, A. N., et al. (1991) J. Mol. Biol. 222, 1109-1129], was found to consist only of tetramers T. A model was proposed for the Chl, based on a dimer:tetramer ratio of 2:1: four 206-kDa dodecamers (trimer of tetramers) and 48 dimers tethered to a framework of 30 L1 and 12 L2 linker chains. The 144 globin chains (2480 kDa) and 42 linker chains (1059 kDa) provide a total mass of 3539 kDa, in good agreement with the 3480 +/- 225 kDa determined previously by STEM mass mapping. The hierarchy of disulfide-bonded globin subunits observed for Eudistylia Chl provides a built-in heterogeneity of hexagonal bilayer structures.  相似文献

Patients with the human disorder ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T; refs 1,2) and Atm-deficient mice have a pleiotropic phenotype that includes infertility. Here we demonstrate that male gametogenesis is severely disrupted in Atm-deficient mice in the earliest stages of meiotic prophase I, resulting in apoptotic degeneration. Atm is required for proper assembly of Rad51 onto the chromosomal axial elements during meiosis. In addition, p53, p21 and Bax are elevated in testes from Atm-deficient mice. To determine whether these elevated protein levels are important factors in the meiotic disruption of Atm-deficient mice, we analysed the meiotic phenotype of Atm/p53 or Atm/p21 double mutants. In these double mutants, meiosis progressed to later stages but was only partly rescued. Assembly of Rad51 foci on axial elements remained defective, and gametogenesis proceeded only to pachytene of prophase I. Previous results demonstrated that mice homozygous for a null mutation in Rad51 (ref. 6) display an early embryonic lethal phenotype that can be partly rescued by removing p53 and/or p21. Because Atm-deficient mice are viable but completely infertile, our studies suggest that the Rad51 assembly defects and elevated levels of p53, p21 and Bax represent tissue-specific responses to the absence of Atm.  相似文献

Ilizarov's method of monofocal compression was used in 30 humeri with a diaphyseal pseudarthrosis. Twenty-one patients had previous surgery but had loosening of the osteosynthesis material. Nine patients initially were treated with a hanging cast, resulting in interfragmentary distraction. Fourteen nonunions were hypertrophic, and 16 were atrophic, of which six were infected. A complete circular frame was used only in the first nine patients, whereas the remaining 21 patients were treated with the modified semicircular fixator. Union was obtained in all but two patients, with an average consolidation time of 4.5 months (range, 2.5-10 months). No patient required additional bone grafting. Apart from superficial pin tract infection seen in most of the patients, three had a minor temporary sensory neurologic problem. Four patients experienced a second fracture after removal of the fixator that required a second application of an Ilizarov frame. Although similar results with regard to union are reported after plate osteosynthesis, there was no radial nerve palsy or deep infection in this series, indicating that the treatment by the Ilizarov technique is associated with less complications. The authors' findings suggest that the Ilizarov method is a reliable treatment for humeral nonunions, even after multiple previous operations or in the event of infection.  相似文献
