In vacuum infusion (VI), it is difficult to manufacture a composite part with small dimensional tolerances, since the thickness of the part changes during resin injection. This change of thickness is due to the effect of varying compaction pressure on the upper mold part, a vacuum bag. In this study, random fabric layers with an embedded core distribution medium is used. The thickness of the composite part and resin pressure are monitored using multiple dial gages and pressure transducers; the results are compared with the model developed by Correia et al. [Correia NC, Robitaille F, Long AC, Rudd CD, Simacek P, Advani SG. Analysis of the vacuum infusion molding process: I. Analytical formulation. Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing 26, 2005. p. 1645–1656]. To use this model, two material characteristics databases are constructed based on the process parameters: (i) the thickness of a dry/wet fabric preform at different compaction pressures, and (ii) the permeability of the preform at different thicknesses. The dry-compacted preform under vacuum is further compacted due to fiber settling in wet form after resin reaches there; the part thickens afterwards as the resin pressure increases locally. The realistic model solution can be achieved only if the compaction characterization experiments are performed in such a way that the fabric is dry during loading, and wet during unloading, as in the actual resin infusion process. The model results can be used to design the process parameters such as vacuum pressure and locations of injection and ventilation tubes so that the dimensional tolerances can be kept small. 相似文献

The use of coefficient of determination, R2, and the Anderson–Darling (A2) hypothesis test to evaluate the goodness-of-fit to the two-parameter Weibull distribution was investigated. Results of Monte Carlo simulations for sample sizes between 5 and 100 indicated that guidelines provided previously in the literature are too conservative for sample sizes up to 80. New guidelines for the use of R2 and A2 for sample sizes between 5 and 100 have been developed. The two measures of goodness-of-fit were found to agree more than 95% of the time, regardless of sample size. A variety of iron-metallated functional porphyrins have been synthesized and their catalytic activity to oxidize polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, (PAHs) using hydrogen peroxide as oxidant was investigated. Nanostructured thin films of lead sulfide have been synthesized by a new electrochemical approach based on the underpotential deposition (UPD) of Pb and S from the saturated solution of PbS containing excess of PbS particles as a source of Pb2+ and S2− at various temperatures.We have demonstrated that this new electrochemical route is a simple method with several advantages, including better control of the growth conditions and a one-step process to obtain the nanostructures of PbS. Scanning probe microscopy studies indicate that the growth of PbS nanofilms follows a two-dimensional layer-by-layer growth kinetics at the beginning of electrodeposition but a three-dimensional growth dominates after the formation of the first few layers. The results of morphological and structural investigations reveal that PbS nanostructures grown by this method are single-crystalline in cubic structure and have a preferential orientation along the [2 0 0] direction. The optical absorption spectra of PbS nanostructures show the blue-shift with respect to those of the bulk counterpart, which are attributed as quantum-size effect. 相似文献

The main goal of this study is to investigate the effects of alternating current (AC) on dye removal from aqueous solutions by electrocoagulation (EC). An EC system with parallel-connected aluminium electrodes was operated in batch mode. Two different aqueous dye solutions were used: one was obtained from Dianix Yellow CC (DY) and the other was obtained using Procion Yellow (PY). The experiments employing direct current (DC) were carried out using a DC power supply. The AC experiments were conducted using rectangular wave, which is produced with an adjustable time relay connected to the output of DC power supply. This current is called alternating pulse current (APC) in order to refer AC system in this study. Total organic carbon (TOC) and dye removal efficiencies were measured to assess treatment efficiency. Operating cost was calculated for both power supply systems and alternating pulse current was found superior to direct current for the treatment of reactive and disperse dyes used in this study. 相似文献

Effects of dense‐phase CO2 (DPCD) on microbial, physical, chemical and sensorial quality of coconut water (CW) beverage were evaluated. Pressure during DPCD treatment was not significant in microbial reduction whereas temperature and % CO2 levels were significant. DPCD‐treated (34.5 MPa, 25 °C, 13% CO2, 6 min), heat‐pasteurised (74 °C, 15 s) and untreated CW beverages were evaluated during 9 weeks of refrigerated storage (4 °C). Total aerobic bacteria of DPCD and heat‐treated samples decreased whereas that of untreated samples increased to >105 CFU mL?1 after 9 weeks. DPCD increased titratable acidity but did not change pH (4.20) and °Brix (6.0). Likeability of DPCD‐treated CW was similar to untreated. Heat‐treated samples were less liked (α = 0.05) at the beginning of storage. Off flavour and taste‐difference‐from‐control scores of heated samples were higher than DPCD during the first two weeks. DPCD extended shelf life of acidified, sweetened and carbonated CW over 9 weeks at 4 °C. 相似文献

Aim
To evaluate changes in the coordinates of the line of sight (LoS) and higher order aberrations (HOAs) of eyes with keratoconus, following corneal cross-linking (CXL).Methods
All patients (93 eyes) underwent detailed ophthalmologic examination and Pentacam HR measurements at baseline and at 3, 6, and 12 months after corneal CXL. LoS coordinates on the horizontal (x) and vertical (y) axes, vertical coma, vertical trefoil, spherical aberration, total root–mean square (RMS), and HOA-RMS values were recorded along with visual acuity and topographical parameters.Results
LoS significantly shifted to the nasal region after corneal CXL in both right and left eyes (p = 0.003 and p = 0.01, respectively). Horizontal axis values of both eyes significantly shifted to the temporal region at postoperative 6th months compared to the baseline measurements (p = 0.02 and p = 0.02, respectively) and remained the same between postoperative 6th months and 12th months (p = 1.00 and p = 0.97, respectively). Total-RMS, HOA-RMS, vertical coma, and spherical aberration values significantly improved after corneal CXL (p < 0.001, p = 0.02, p = 0.04, and p < 0.001, respectively). The improvements in HOAs were significant at postoperative 6th months compared to the baseline measurements (p = 0.003, p = 0.02, p < 0.001, and p = 0.003, respectively) while remained the same between postoperative 6th months and 12th months (p > 0.05 for all values). The changes in horizontal-axis coordinates in left eyes were significantly correlated with anterior elevation, anterior astigmatism, total-RMS and HOA-RMS changes (r2 = 0.20, p = 0.03; r2 = 0.35, p < 0.01; r2 = 0.50, p < 0.001 and r2 = 0.35, p = 0.004; respectively).Conclusions
LoS significantly shifted to the nasal region and HOAs improved after corneal CXL and these changes stabilized 6th months after corneal CXL. It would be more better to perform refractive surgery in crosslinked corneas at least 6th months after corneal CXL. 相似文献89.
Fusel oil which contains high level of amyl alcohols (approximately 45–55%) is a by-product obtained from the distillation of alcohol made by fermentation of molasses. Williopsis saturnus is a yeast which is able to convert isoamyl alcohol into isoamyl acetate. The aim of this study was to increase the formation of isoamyl acetate by the addition of fusel oil at the ratios of 1%, 2% and 3% (v/v) to molasses based fermentation medium using W. saturnus. It was found out that bioconversion of added fusel oil into isoamyl acetate was possible and an addition of 1% fusel oil led to an increase in isoamyl acetate concentration from 118 to 354 mg/L. 相似文献

This study investigated the effectiveness of surface treatment of Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) denture base resin on tensile bond strength between PMMA/silicone-based soft liner. A total of 25 specimens were fabricated and assigned into five groups (n = 5). The surfaces of PMMA were treated with maleic anhydride, maleic anhydride-styrene-vinyl-acetate, n-butylmaleate-styrene-vinyl-acetate, or n-pentamaleate-styrene-vinyl-acetate prior to Primo adhesive primer application and silicone liner placement. The Primo adhesive primer on applied group untreated dentuse base resin served as control. The tensile test was performed using a universal testing machine. Fractured surfaces were observed under Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and spectroscopic interpretation of the interfaces was done by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Test results showed that surface treatment increased interfacial strength giving the highest value for n-butylmaleate-styrene-vinyl acetate treated group. SEM micrographs revealed that the specimens with n-butylmaleate-styrene-vinyl-acetate and n-penta maleate-styrene-vinyl-acetate terpolymers underwent cohesive failure. FTIR analysis indicated secondary interactions such as hydrogen bonding, possibly on acrylic resin surfaces, caused by the use of maleic anhydride and its terpolymers, and the adhesive. 相似文献
