Sn-doped and undoped nano-TiO(2) particles have been synthesized by hydrotermal process without solvent at 200 degrees C in 1h. Nanostructure-TiO(2) based thin films have been prepared on glass substrate by spin-coating technique. The structure, surface morphology and optical properties of the thin films and the particles have been investigated by element analysis and XRD, SEM, BET and UV-vis-NIR techniques. The photocatalytic performance of the films were tested for degradation of Malachite Green dye in solution under UV and vis-lights. The results showed that (a) hydrothermally synthesized nano-TiO(2) particles are fully anatase crystalline form and are easily dispersed in water, (b) the coated surfaces have nearly super-hydrophilic properties and, (c) the doping of transition metal ion efficiently improved the photocatalytic performance of the TiO(2) thin film.  相似文献

Degree of surface quality of wood plastic composites (WPCs) is a function of both raw material characteristics and the manufacturing variables. The WPC panels comprised of different panel densities (800, 950, 1000, and 1080 kg/m3), wood flour contents (50, 60, 70, and 80 wt.%), wood flour sizes (<0.5, ?0.5 to <0.8, 0.8–1, and >1 mm), and hot-pressing temperatures (190 and 210 °C) were manufactured using a dry blend/flat-pressing method under laboratory conditions. The surface smoothness of the WPC panels improved with increasing WPC density, plastic content, and hot-pressing temperature while it deteriorated with increasing wood flour size. The reduction in the particle size of the WF resulted in a more compact structure on the WPC surface. In general, the wettability of the samples increased by increasing surface roughness.  相似文献

Dimensional stability, mechanical properties, and melting and crystallization behavior of polypropylene composites filled with sunflower seed cake (SSC) were investigated. Injection molded composites were prepared from the SSC flour and polypropylene with and without maleic anhydride‐grafted polypropylene (MAPP) at 30, 40, 50, and 60 wt % contents of the SSC flour. Twenty‐eight days thickness swelling and water absorption values of the specimens increased by 43 and 56% as the filler content increased from 30 to 60 wt %, respectively. The flexural modulus of the polypropylene composites increased from 3157 to 4363 MPa as the SSC flour increased from 30 to 60 wt %. The maximum flexural strength 38.4 MPa was observed for 40 wt % SSC flour filled specimens. However, further increment in the SCC flour decreased the flexural strength to 31.4 MPa. The tensile strength of the specimens decreased from 22.5 to 14 MPa while the tensile modulus increased from 3023 to 3677 MPa as the SSC flour increased from 30 to 60 wt %. The dimensional stability and mechanical properties of the composites were significantly improved by the incorporation of the coupling agent (MAPP). The effect of the MAPP addition was more pronounced for the strength than for the modulus. The melting temperature and degree of crystallinity of the neat polypropylene decreased with increasing content of the SSC flour. Injection molded specimens were prepared from the walnut shell flour and polypropylene with and without maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene at 40, 50, and 60% (weight) contents of the walnut shell. The bending and tensile modulus of the composites significantly increased with increasing the filler content while the bending and tensile strengths significantly decreased. Water absorption and thickness swelling of the composites increased with increasing filler content. The MAPP improved the interfacial adhesion between walnut shell flour and polymer matrix. A 40/57/3 formulation of the walnut shell flour/polypropylene/MAPP can be used in outdoor applications requiring a high dimensional stability.  相似文献

Based on a pseudopotential scheme within the virtual crystal approximation, we present a theoretical investigation of the electronic properties of GaxIn1−xP. The effect of alloy disorder on energy band-gaps has been examined and found to be not negligible. The composition dependence of energy band-gaps and electron effective mass is shown to be non-linear. In agreement with experiment, a direct-to-indirect band-gap crossover is found to occur close to x = 0.7. Besides, the electron valence and conduction charge densities for Ga0.50In0.50P derived from pseudopotential band-structure calculations are reported and trends in bonding and ionicity are discussed.  相似文献

Pure anatase, nanosized and Sn(4+) ion doped titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) particulates (TiO(2)-Sn(4+)) were synthesized by hydrothermal process. TiO(2)-Sn(4+) was used to coat glass surfaces to investigate the photocatalytic antibacterial effect of Sn(4+) doping to TiO(2) against gram negative Escherichia coli (E. coli) and gram positive Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Relationship between solid ratio of TiO(2)-Sn(4+) in coatings and antibacterial activity was reported. The particulates and the films were characterized using particle size analyzer, zeta potential analyzer, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), SEM, AAS and UV/VIS/NIR techniques. The results showed that TiO(2)-Sn(4+) is fully anatase crystalline form and easily dispersed in water. Increasing the solid ratio of TiO(2)-Sn(4+) from 10 to 50% in the coating solution increased antibacterial effect.  相似文献

Plants store non-structural carbohydrates (NSC), nitrogen (N), as well as other macro and micronutrients, in their stems and roots; the role of these stored reserves in plant growth and defense under herbivory pressure is poorly understood, particularly in trees. Trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) seedlings with different NSC and N reserves accumulated during the previous growing season were generated in the greenhouse. Based on NSC and N contents, seedlings were assigned to one of three reserve statuses: Low N–Low NSC, High N–Medium NSC, or High N–High NSC. In the subsequent growing season, half of the seedlings in each reserve status was subjected to defoliation by forest tent caterpillar (Malacosoma disstria) while the other half was left untreated. Following defoliation, the effect of reserves was measured on foliar chemistry (N, NSC) and caterpillar performance (larval development). Due to their importance in herbivore feeding, we also quantified concentrations of phenolic glycoside compounds in foliage. Seedlings in Low N-Low NSC reserve status contained higher amounts of induced phenolic glycosides, grew little, and supported fewer caterpillars. In contrast, aspen seedlings in High N-Medium or High NSC reserve statuses contained lower amounts of induced phenolic glycosides, grew faster, and some of the caterpillars which fed on these seedlings developed up to their fourth instar. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis indicated that foliar phenolic glycoside concentration was related to reserve chemistry (NSC, N). Overall, these results demonstrate that reserves accumulated during the previous growing season can influence tree defense and growth in the subsequent growing season. Additionally, our study concluded that the NSC/N ratio of reserves in the previous growing season represents a better measure of resources available for use in defense and growth than the foliar NSC/N ratios.  相似文献

In this study, a novel basalt embedded fiber membranes was prepared by the electrospinning method. The effects of the feed rate, voltage, tip to collector distance, and the basalt content on the prepared composite fiber membranes were investigated and optimized using the response surface method. Four models were built to compare the fibers in terms of deionized water flux (DWF), activated sludge flux, chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal, and porosity of fiber membranes. All the developed models were significant and adequately precise. The maximum flux of DWF was obtained when the voltage was 17.25 kV, the tip to collector distance of 19 cm, and a basalt content in polymer of 1.25%. COD removal decreased at higher voltage values as the feed rate increased. The porosity, pore size, and the contact angle values decreased for basalt embedded fiber membrane. The increases in the basalt percentage in polymer increased the hydrophilicity of the fiber. The flux decline for the basalt embedded fiber membrane was compared with the pristine fiber membrane. The permeate fluxes of pristine and basalt embedded fiber membranes were 42.3 and 59.6 L/m2/h, respectively. The biofouling performances of pristine and basalt embedded fiber membranes were also examined. Irreversible fouling decreased from 42.9% to 8.0%, and reversible fouling increased from 56.5% to 91.1% after modification of the membrane with basalt powder. Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM–EDX) analysis showed that basalt powder was successfully embedded into polyether sulfone polymer.  相似文献

Summary The occurrence of stress cracking failure in polyethylene films caused by a chemical was checked by means of a device, such as a big jack support. In this work, castor oil was used as the reagent and polyethylene films of different origins were tested. The samples used were cut out of polymer films just like those used in stress-strain study, i. e., dogbones. The stress applied in testing was caused by the dislocation of the big jack parallel plates. The test was run at room temperature and at 60°C, in presence and in absence of castor oil. Tendency of failure is favored by presence of stress when the specimen is in contact with castor oil. Higher temperatures enhance the tendency of failure.  相似文献

The effects of host tree monoterpenes on primary and secondary attraction of the bark beetles, Ips pini and Ips grandicollis, and their associated phloeophagous insects were investigated. Monoterpenes alone were not attractive to I. pini. However, monoterpenes mediated the attraction of I. pini to its aggregation pheromones. With the exception of 3–carene, the effect of monoterpenes on I. pini's response to its pheromone, ipsdienol plus lanierone, was inhibitory. In contrast, (–)--pinene both attracted I. grandicollis and enhanced the attraction of I. grandicollis to its pheromone, ipsenol. No monoterpene inhibited the response of I. grandicollis to its pheromone. The inhibitory effect of host monoterpenes on I. pini response to its aggregation pheromone differs from previous work, in which monoterpenes either synergized responses or had no effect. In addition to possible geographic differences, the concentrations used in our study simulated trees that had begun to respond to attack, whereas previous studies deployed lower concentrations, which simulated constitutive phloem from unattacked trees. These results support the view that trees that undergo induced responses to bark beetles sometimes inhibit attraction of additional beetles, despite the beetles' production of aggregation pheromones. Neither species displayed cross-attraction to the pheromone of the other. The red turpentine beetle, Dendroctonus valens, showed weak and consistent attraction to (+)--pinene and in some cases to (–)--pinene. Attraction to (–)--pinene was usually enhanced by Ips spp. pheromones. The absence of strong attraction to (+)--pinene and partial attraction to (–)--pinene suggest that the effects of different stereoisomers of -pinene on D. valens vary throughout its geographical range. Hylastes porculus was also attracted to some monoterpenes, particularly (–)--pinene. An additional 10 species of phloeophagous insects were caught in response to monoterpenes and/or pheromones, including the pine root weevils, Hylobius pales and Pachylobius picivorus, and the longhorned beetle, Monochamus carolinensis.  相似文献
