The present work aims to investigate the effect of water addition to orange peel oil biodiesel (BD100) in a diesel engine to reduce the exhaust emissions. Fuel samples are prepared with different concentrations of water into biodiesel, 95% biodiesel + 5% water (BD95W5) and 90% orange peel oil biodiesel + 10% water (BD90W10). The water is added to biodiesel in presence of surfactant (Span-80). The experimental investigation on diesel engine reveals that the oxides of nitrogen emission and smoke emission are reduced for BD95W5 and BD90W10 compared to BD100 and diesel. In addition, the introduction of water to biodiesel in diesel engine reduces the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions noticeably. 相似文献

The present work was aimed to investigate the individual and hybrid reinforcement effect of multiscale fillers [glass fibers (GF)/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)] in polypropylene (PP) matrix. The MWCNT content in the hybrid composites was varied from 0.5 to 5 wt%, and glass fiber fraction was fixed as 20 wt%. The morphology of nano and hybrid composite revealed reasonable dispersion of MWCNTs and glass fibers in the matrix. At a MWCNT content of 3 wt%, the optimum tensile properties for the hybrid composites were achieved and beyond which it declined due to agglomeration effects as revealed by transmission electron microscopy. A comparative study of the experimental and predicted values of moduli of nano, micro, and hybrid composites using various micromechanical models was conducted. The simultaneous incorporation of MWCNTs and glass fibers in PP restricted the mobility of polymer chains as indicated by the increase in storage modulus and rise in glass transition temperature obtained by dynamic mechanical analysis. The differential scanning calorimetry studies indicated that the inclusion of 2 wt% of MWCNTs increased the crystallinity of PP from 58.2 to 69.1% in hybrid composites. The Avrami and Mo models were used to explore nonisothermal crystallization kinetics, and Mo model was in close agreement with the experimental results. The sorption behavior of the composites revealed that the formation of immobilized regions developed by the simultaneous inclusion of micro and nano fillers delayed the transport of the solvent. J. Abstract: A new method has been proposed to detect the location and also to quantify the crack using the deflection response of the damaged beams alone. The deflection is measured at a particular point for various locations of a concentrated load on the beam. This static deflection profile is used as the input signal for wavelet (Symlet) analysis. Due to variation in deflection at some points, compared to their adjacent points, peaks are seen in the wavelet coefficient (WC) plot. These peak points are identified as damage points along the length of the beam. The peaks can also be seen at sensor point and supports. These can be eliminated by performing wavelet analysis for the deflection profile measured at another point. In a real damaged structure, it is very difficult to measure deflection at several points, as a large amount of instrumentation needs to be installed to measure the response. This practical difficulty can be avoided by minimizing the number of measuring points in the field as explained in the present work. A parametric study has been carried out by varying the damage, location of damage, intensity of load, flexural rigidity, and length of the beam. It has been observed that the WCs change with variations in damage, location of damage, intensity of load, flexural rigidity, and length of the beam. Towards development of lung tissue substitute used in the calibration of lung counters, seven sets of polyurethane (PU) foam were synthesized exhibiting a density range of 0.14–0.42 g/cm3 by varying the quantity of foaming agent (water) in the formulation. Foam sets were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis and thermo gravimetric analysis. Effect of density on the properties of PU foam is investigated. In addition, attenuation behavior of synthesized material for low energy (<100 keV) gamma rays was checked by using 241Am & 133Ba sources and planar high purity germanium detector. A novel data hiding technique based on modified histogram shifting that incorporates multi-bit secret data hiding is proposed. The proposed technique divides the image pixel values into embeddable and nonembeddable pixel values. Embeddable pixel values are those that are within a specified limit interval surrounding the peak value of an image. The limit interval is calculated from the number of secret bits to be embedded into each embeddable pixel value. The embedded secret bits can be perfectly extracted from the stego image at the receiver side without any overhead bits. From the simulation, it is found that the proposed technique produces a better quality stego image compared to other data hiding techniques, for the same embedding rate. Since the proposed technique only embeds the secret bits in a limited number of pixel values, the change in the visual quality of the stego image is negligible when compared to other data hiding techniques. 相似文献

In liquid metal fast breeder reactors (LMFBR), traps are provided in the primary coolant circuit to reduce the contamination due to the deposition of long lived γ-emitting nuclides. The binding energies of the radionuclides with iron and nickel were estimated using Pauling’s electronegativity.
