Tensile properties and Izod impact strength of mica‐filled composites of poly(butylene terephthlate) (PBT)/polyacrylonitrile‐butyl acrylate‐styrene (ABAS) were studied at mica concentration range 0 to 0.14 volume fraction, (?f). Tensile properties such as tensile modulus, strength, and breaking strain were normalized by dividing the data with the crystallinity (%) of the major component PBT in the composites and the matrix blends. The normalized relative tensile properties were compared with simple models to evaluate the interphase interactions between the matrix (i.e. PBT/ABAS blend) and the dispersed phase mica. Mica reinforced the blend increasing the tensile modulus and strength with mica concentration while the strain‐at‐break was increased marginally up to ?f = 0.04 and decreased beyond this ?f. The impact strength, however, decreased with increase in ?f due to enhanced matrix stiffening and lack of plastic deformation of the matrix. Scanning electron microscopic studies revealed good dispersion of mica in the composites. The effect of surface treatment with a zirconate coupling agent, NZ‐97, on the above properties has also been examined. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2010  相似文献

Synthetic melittin inhibited the enzymatic activity of secretory phospholipase A2 (PLA2) from various sources, including bee and snake venoms, bovine pancreas, and synovial fluid from rheumatoid arthritis patients, irrespective of substrate (e.g., [14C]-phosphatidylcholine or phosphatidylethanolamine vesicles and [3H]-oleic acid-labeled E.coli). A Lineweaver-Burk analysis showed that melittin was a noncompetitive inhibitor of bee venom PLA2, causing a change in Vmax from 200 to 50 units/min/mg of protein. The Km remained unchanged (0.75 nmole). Melittin inhibited approximately 50% of purified bee venom PLA2 activity in a 30:1 molar ratio (melittin:enzyme). Because the enzyme kinetics indicated a PLA2-melittin interaction, a melittin-sepharose affinity column was used to purify a PLA2 from human serum. Further, an enzyme-linked assay was developed to quantitate PLA2 activity in biological fluids using avidin-peroxidase and ELISA plates coated with biotinylated melittin. These observations may have potential therapeutic significance, as well as provide a convenient basis for the isolation and quantitation of PLA2.  相似文献

Many belief change formalisms employ plausibility orderings over the set of possible worlds to determine how the beliefs of an agent ought to be modified after the receipt of a new epistemic input. While most such possible world semantics rely on a single ordering, we investigate the use of an additional preference ordering—representing, for instance, the epistemic context the agent finds itself in—to guide the process of belief change. We show that the resultant formalism provides a unifying semantics for a wide variety of belief change operators. By varying the conditions placed on the second ordering, different families of known belief change operators can be captured, including AGM belief contraction and revision, Rott and Pagnucco's severe withdrawal, the systematic withdrawal of Meyer et al., as well as the linear liberation and σ-liberation operators of Booth et al. Our approach also identifies novel classes of belief change operators worthy of further investigation.  相似文献

Networked control of robotic systems is widely recognized as a potentially transformative technological enabler for several applications. However, the issues of time delays in communication and recovery from data losses have emerged as the pivotal issues that have stymied practical deployment. The study for control of robotic system with input/output communication delays has attracted many researchers’ attention, but the existing results have been primarily developed for rigid-joint robots. Since joint flexibility is largely unavoidable in practical manipulators, in this paper the set-point control problem for flexible-joint robots with input/output communication delays is studied. It is demonstrated that the scattering variables address the stability problem for unknown constant delays, however, in contrast to the rigid-robot case, they cannot guarantee set-point regulation. In addition, we compute the explicit dependence of the regulation errors on the communication delays, control gains, and the desired set-point configuration. Without exact knowledge of time delays, a scattering variable based controller with position feedback is subsequently studied in this paper to guarantee stability with improved regulation performance. The control architecture is further extended to the case with time-varying delays. Simulation results are presented to validate the efficacy of the proposed control algorithms.  相似文献

Cholera toxin (CT) increases intestinal secretion of water and electrolytes and modulates the mucosal immune response by stimulating cellular synthesis of arachidonic acid (AA) metabolites (e.g., prostaglandin E2), as well as the intracellular second messenger cyclic AMP (cAMP). While much is known about the mechanism of CT stimulation of adenylate cyclase, the toxin's activation of phospholipase A2, which results in increased hydrolysis of AA from membrane phospholipids, is not well understood. To determine whether CT activation of AA metabolism requires CT's known enzymatic activity (i.e., ADP-ribosylation of GSalpha), we used native CT and a mutant CT protein (CT-2*) lacking ADP-ribose transferase activity in combination with S49 wild-type (WT) and S49 cyc- murine Theta (Th)1.2-positive lymphoma cells deficient in GSalpha. The experimental results showed that native CT stimulated the release of [3H[AA from S49 cyc- cells at a level similar to that for S49 WT cells, indicating that GSalpha is not essential for this process. Further, levels of cAMP in the CT-treated cyc- cells remained the same as those in the untreated control cells. The ADP-ribosyltransferase-deficient CT-2* protein, which was incapable of increasing synthesis of cAMP, displayed about the same capacity as CT to evoke the release of [3H]AA metabolites from both S49 WT and cyc- cells. We concluded that stimulation of arachidonate metabolism in S49 murine lymphoma cells by native CT does not require enzymatically functional CT, capable of catalyzing the ADP-ribosylation reaction. These results demonstrated for the first time that stimulation of adenylate cyclase by CT and stimulation of AA metabolism by CT are not necessarily coregulated. In addition, the B subunits purified from native CT and CT-2* both simulated the release of [3H]AA from S49 cyc- cells and murine monocyte/macrophage cells (RAW 264.7), suggesting a receptor-mediated cell activation process of potential importance in enhancing immune responses to vaccine components.  相似文献

The work reported here used infrared (IR), multinuclear nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and chromatographic techniques to identify and characterise a commercial sulphur‐ and nitrogen‐containing ashless multifunctional additive. The proper assignment of signals in the 1H/13C NMR and IR spectra of the sample has facilitated the identification of different types of sulphur‐ and nitrogen‐containing components. The methodology involves investigation by NMR and IR spectroscopies, thin‐layer chromatography (TLC) and high‐performance liquid chromatogaphy (HPLC) techniques to elucidate the types of components present. This requires the generation of NMR and IR spectral data for standard compounds of alkyl sulphides with different sulphur content and alkyl chain, and nitrogen and sulphur components such as thiadiazole, imidazoline, triazole, etc., and spectral comparison with the spectra of the unknown sample. Further, these components have been separated by silica/alumina column chromatographic and preparative TLC techniques and subsequently analysed for their exact chemical structure by spectroscopic techniques. The combined spectroscopic and chromatographic analyses have yielded the presence of four types of components: di‐t‐octyl polysulphide, di‐t‐octyl thiadiazole, a component containing amine ether functionality, and alkyl amine salts of mono/dialkyl phosphoric acid.  相似文献

In the present investigation, a low-cost medium prepared from molasses and corn steep liquor was used for the bacterial cellulose production by using an isolated bacterial strain. This bacterium, identified as Gluconacetobacter xylinus C18, was isolated from Indian fruit waste (rotten grapes). The process of cellulose production from the isolated bacterial strain was optimized using response surface methodology based on the central composite rotatable design. The optimum parameters for maximum bacterial cellulose production (4.34 g/L) obtained were sugarcane molasses concentration 10.77% (w/v) supplemented with 12.47% (v/v) corn steep liquor concentration at 31 °C, pH 6.5, and incubation time of 172 h. The structure of cellulose was characterized and confirmed by using SEM and FT-IR spectroscopy.  相似文献

Herein we report a novel self-assembly synthesis, structural and optical characterization of mesoporous Bragg stacks (MBS) composed of spin-coated multilayer stacks of mesoporous TiO(2) and mesoporous SiO(2). Investigation of the optical response of MBS to the infiltration of alcohols and alkanes into its pores reveals better sensitivity and selectivity than conventional Bragg reflectors. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the chemical sensing ability can be tuned via layer thickness, composition and surface properties.  相似文献

We investigate the performance of FIr6-based deep-blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices (PHOLEDs) with three different electron transport materials, bathocuproine (BCP), 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BPhen), and tris[3-(3-pyridyl)mesityl]borane (3TPYMB), and study the effect of doping alkaline metals (Li and Cs) into these charge transport materials. External quantum efficiency (ηEQE) of (20 ± 1)% and peak power efficiency (ηP) of (36 ± 2) lm/W were achieved maintaining Commission Internationale de L’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (x = 0.16, y = 0.28) in p-i-n dual-emissive-layer (D-EML) deep-blue PHOLEDs with 3TPYMB as the electron transport material and 3TPYMB:Cs as the electron injection layer. The high efficiencies are attributed to the high triplet energy of 3TPYMB as well as the increased conductivity of 3TPYMB:Cs.  相似文献
