Dairy products are the most predominant food carriers for probiotics, providing adequate therapeutic and functional benefits to the host when sufficient probiotics are maintained. Bovine milk currently dominates the global probiotic food market, but there is an increasing trend of applying nonbovine milk from other dairy animals as probiotic carrier food matrices as described in this review. Nonbovine dairy products can be considered suitable food matrices for probiotic delivery due to their excellent probiotic viability (mostly >log 7 cfu/mL or g) during shelf life, functional properties and product quality characteristics, being considered desirable and novel dairy products.  相似文献

Microchannel surfaces are common to microfluidics, biofluidics, thermal management, and energy applications. Due to processing limitations for the majority of metallic materials, the majority of hyperfine microchannels used in microfluidics and thermo-fluids are fabricated on non-metallic substrates, for example, silicon and polydimethylsiloxane. Here, a technique to fabricate ultrasmall microchannels on arbitrary metallic materials is developed using photolithography in combination with electrochemical deposition. The technique is used to prepare copper microchannels and to investigate the pool boiling heat transfer performance with a focus on the three-phase contact line dynamics. The hydrodynamics of nucleating bubbles during boiling are observed in situ using in-liquid endoscopy. The results show that the variation of critical heat flux enhancement has a linear relationship with the contact line increase ratio. The scalable microchannel surfaces exhibit superior heat transfer performance with a maximum heat transfer coefficient) enhancement of 930% with ultra-low wall superheat of 5  ° C. This work not only develops a scalable manufacturing method to develop ultra-small microchannels on metallic materials, it outlines design guidelines for structure optimization of pool boiling heat transfer for temperature sensitive applications, such as electronics thermal management.  相似文献

The influence of cultivation on the expression pattern of canine adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (cAD-MSCs) surface markers, contributing to, among others, the promotion of growth, proliferation, differentiation and immunomodulatory mechanisms of an excellent therapeutic, is still unknown. To fill the gap, we investigated CD90, CD44, CD73, CD29, CD271, CD105, CD45 and CD14 patterns of expression at the protein level with flow cytometry and mRNA level using a real-time polymerase chain reaction array. Gentle variations of expression occurred during cultivation, along with increased CD90, CD44 and CD29 expression, low and decreasing CD271 and CD73 expression and a decrease of initially high CD105. As expected, CD45 and CD14 were not expressed by cAD-MSCs. Interestingly, we discovered a significant decrease of CD73 expression, compared to early (P1–P3) to late (P4–P6) passages, although the CD73 gene expression was found to be stable. The percentage of positive cells was found to be higher for all positive markers up to P4. As CD73′s one important feature is a modulation from a pro-inflammatory environment to an anti-inflammatory milieu, the expression of CD73 in our conditions indicate the need to consider the time cells spend in vitro before being transplanted into patients, since it could impact their favourable therapeutical properties.  相似文献

The aim of the study presented here has been to see what the effects of the new traffic safety law are, 2 years into its initial implementation, on driving under the influence of alcohol. Until the end of 2009, the legal limit for blood concentration for drivers in Serbia was 0.5 g/l; however, the new traffic safety law stipulates the new limit to be 0.3 g/l. A retrospective autopsy study was performed over a 6-year period (from 2006 to 2011) whose sample covered cases of fatally injured drivers who had died at the scene of the incident, before being admitted to hospital. A total of 161 fatally injured drivers were examined for their blood alcohol concentration. The average age for these drivers was 40.2 ± 15.4 years, with a significant male predominance of 152 men to 9 women (χ2 = 152.000, p < 0.001). This study has shown no decrease in the ratio of drivers under the influence of alcohol vs. all drivers (Pearson χ2 = 4.415, df = 5, p = 0.491), nor in the number of drivers under the influence of alcohol (Pearson χ2 = 6.629, df = 5, p = 0.250), nor a decrease in the mean blood alcohol concentration in drivers (1.72 ± 0.87 vs. 1.68 ± 0.95 g/l, t = 0.177, df = 80, p = 0.860). The conclusion of this study is that the new law has had a limited effect on driving under the influence of alcohol, which still remains one of the major human factors, responsible for road-traffic crashes in Serbia.  相似文献

We report on the photovoltaic performance of bulk heterojunction solar cells using novel nanoparticles of 6-palmitate ascorbic acid surface modified TiO(2) as an electron acceptor embedded into the donor poly(3-hexyl)thiophene (P3HT) matrix. Devices were fabricated by using P3HT with varying amounts of red TiO(2) nanoparticles (1:1, 1:2, 1:3?w-w ratio). The devices were characterized by measuring current-voltage characteristics under simulated AM 1.5 conditions. Incident photon to current efficiency (IPCE) was spectrally resolved. The nanoscale morphology of such organic/inorganic hybrid blends was also investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM).  相似文献

In this paper, we present a novel nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) formulation for the transient control of a DC-DC converter. We demonstrate that a real-time implementation of the proposed NMPC scheme using the PANOC solver can be efficiently applied to control DC-DC converters in the microsecond range. Moreover, an embedded, code-generated version of PANOC can be implemented using microcontrollers or digital signal processors. The algorithm is incorporated in the transient simulator of PWM DC-DC converters, and the operation of the simulator on the boost converter's example is presented, comparing the performance of our NMPC-controller with that of a classical PID controller. The operation of the boost converter controlled using the proposed NMPC algorithm is validated experimentally.  相似文献

Using powder X‐ray diffraction in conjunction with a diamond anvil cell (DAC), the unit cell volume of triamino‐trinitrobenzene (TATB) has been measured from ambient pressure to 13 GPa. The resultant isotherm is compared with previous theoretical (Byrd and Rice and Pastine and Bernecker) and experimental (Olinger and Cady) works. While all reports are consistent to approximately 2 GPa, our measurements reveal a slightly stiffer TATB material than reported by Olinger and Cady and an intermediate compressibility compared with the isotherms predicted by the two theoretical works. Analysis of the room temperature isotherm using the semi‐empirical, Murnaghan, Birch–Murnaghan, and Vinet equations of state (EOS) provided a determination of the isothermal bulk modulus (Ko) and its pressure‐derivative (Ko′) for TATB. From these fits to our PV isotherm, from ambient pressure to 8 GPa, the average results for the zero‐pressure bulk modulus and its pressure derivative were found to be 14.7 GPa and 10.1, respectively. For comparison to shock experiments on pressed TATB powder and its plastic‐bonded formulation PBX 9502 (95% TATB, 5% Kel‐F 800), the isotherm was transformed to the pseudo‐velocity Usup plane using the Rankine–Hugoniot jump conditions. This analysis provides an extrapolated bulk sound speed, co=1.70 km s−1, for TATB and its agreement with a previous determination (co=1.43 km s−1) is discussed. Furthermore, our PV and corresponding Usup curves reveal a subtle cusp at approximately 8 GPa. This cusp is discussed in relation to similar observations made for the aromatic hydrocarbons anthracene, benzene and toluene, graphite, and trinitrotoluene (TNT).  相似文献

We describe a compiler and run-time system that allow data-parallel programs to execute on a network of heterogeneous UNIX workstations. The programming language supported is Dataparallel C, a SIMD language with virtual processors and a global name space. This parallel programming environment allows the user to take advantage of the power of multiple workstations without adding any message-passing calls to the source program. Because the performance of Individual workstations in a multi-user environment may change during the execution of a Dataparallel C program, the run-time system automatically performs dynamic load balancing. We present experimental results that demonstrate the usefulness of dynamic load-balancing In a multi-user environment These results suggest that initially allocating the same amount of work to each processor and letting the dynamic load balancing algorithm adjust the load during program execution yields very good performance. Hence neither the compiler nor the run-time system need a priori knowledge of the speeds of the machines that will participate in a program execution.  相似文献
