Heavy ions elastic recoil detection analysis coupled with time of flight spectrometer (HIERDA_ToF-E) have been used to measure energy loss of charged particles in thin absorber. The stopping power of heavy ions has been determined in Mylar for 28Si, 27Al, 24Mg, 19F, 16O, 12C and 7Li ions over a continuous range of energies 0.14-0.80 MeV/nucleon. The ions were recoils from the bombardment of different samples (Si, MgO, Al2O3, LiF and C) with a 27.5 MeV Kr+ beam. The energy loss of the recoil atoms is measured with and without additional foils placed in front of a Surface Barrier Detector (SBD). The energy of individual ions is determined from its ToF data; the exit energy after the stopping foil is measured using the SBD detector. We have compared our stopping values to those predicted by SRIM-2008 computer code, ICRU-73 stopping data tables, MSTAR calculations and to the published data from literature. The results show good agreement with limited existing data but indicate a large deviation among the predicted theoretical values at the low energy side of the stopping maximum peak.  相似文献

Wind generator performance improvement requires sophisticated and robust control techniques to overcome various constraints and achieve optimal aerodynamic energy conversion. Because of the continuously changing nature of the wind, the output power of a wind energy conversion system (WECS) can be maximized if the wind rotor is driven at an optimal rotational speed for a particular wind speed. This is achieved with a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. Over the years, a variety of MPPT studies have been made, but very few provide guidelines to single out the most suited MPPT technique. In this paper, a comprehensive comparison of the four most used schemes has been made in relation to a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind turbine system. These techniques can be classified into various categories. The obtained results show clearly the superiority of the fuzzy logic control (FLC) technique. Using this MPPT approach, the generated power by the turbine is considered to be, in terms of power control, an auxiliary source feeding a grid. To achieve smooth regulation of the active and reactive power exchange between the PMSG and the grid, direct power control, using space vector modulation DPC‐SVM strategy combined with sliding mode control (SMC) is applied in the grid‐side converter. Effects of bilateral chemical inactivation of the nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) by microinjection of kainic acid (KA) on fluid and NaCl absorption across the jejunum were examined in anesthetized Sprague-Dawley rats. Jejunal fluid and NaCl absorption was measured in a jejunal loop before and after the microinjection of artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) or KA into the NTS. Net fluid and NaCl absorption was not altered by a microinjection of aCSF. However, net fluid (from 1.12 +/- 0.07 to 1.66 +/- 0.06 ml/30 min) and NaCl (Na+ from 164.5 +/- 10.1 to 243.3 +/- 7.1 muEq/30 min; and Cl- from 175.9 +/- 7.5 to 260.8 +/- 6.5 muEq/30 min) absorption was significantly increased by the chemical inactivation of the NTS. To examine the efferent mechanism of the increased net absorption induced by the NTS inactivation, mesenteric nerve activity (MNA) was measured before and after the inactivation of the NTS. MNA was significantly increased by 165.9 +/- 74.2% after the bilateral inactivation of the NTS. Furthermore, absorption experiments were conducted in rats with pretreatment of atropine (acetylcholine-antagonist) or yohimbine (specific alpha 2-antagonist). In atropine treated rats, net jejunal absorption was significantly increased by the inactivation of the NTS. However, the increase in net absorption induced by the inactivation of the NTS was completely abolished by pretreatment with yohimbine. These results suggest that the NTS has a tonic suppression on jejunal absorption through alpha 2-adrenergic mechanism.  相似文献

Nosocomial infections with Candida species have emerged as an increasingly important cause of morbidity and mortality in intensive care units. Ten Candida rugosa isolates from a previously documented cluster of C. rugosa infections in one hospital (nine burn unit isolates and one isolate from another hospital ward) and eight C. rugosa isolates recovered in a referral fungus testing laboratory (comparison isolates) from distinct geographic areas were investigated by molecular techniques. Isolates were from multiple anatomic sites. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) of whole-cell DNA was performed with the 18 C. rugosa isolates as a marker of strain identity. The PFGE karyotypes of the C. rugosa isolates were demonstrated from four to seven chromosome bands. Karyotyping revealed the same PFGE pattern for the nine outbreak isolates from the burn unit, confirming clonal strain transmission. The isolate from the other hospital ward had a distinct karyotype. Distinct PFGE karyotype patterns were demonstrated for the eight comparison isolates. Restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP) generated from whole-cell DNA digested with SfiI demonstrated the same RFLP pattern among outbreak isolates. Among comparison isolates, karyotyping distinguished some isolates that were indistinguishable by RFLP patterns. Karyotyping by PFGE appears to be the most useful molecular typing tool for discrimination among strains of C. rugosa and will be a useful marker for evaluating the epidemiology of future C. rugosa infections.  相似文献

PURPOSE: This study analyzed potential risk factors in patients who received radiation therapy and then developed osteoradionecrosis (ORN). PATIENTS AND METHODS: A group of 104 patients who developed osteoradionecrosis of the jaws were reviewed treated between 1972 and 1992. RESULTS: The most common affected site was the mandible (99 cases, 95.2%), followed by the maxilla (5 cases, 4.8%). Among all cases, 93 (89.4%) were induced-trauma ORN, and 11 (10.6%) were spontaneous ORN. The following risk factors were considered as predisposing factors for the appearance of ORN: Anatomic location of the tumor, tumor surgery, total radiation dose, dose rate/day, mode of radiation delivery, time from radiation therapy until the onset of ORN, and dental status. ORN developed more frequently with oral cancer than other head and neck cancers. The size of the tumor seemed not to influence the incidence of ORN except when the tumor invade the adjacent bone. Type of radiation delivery total bone dose, and modes of radiation appeared to influence the risk of ORN occurrence. After conservative treatment, 44 (42.3%) cases had complete healing and resolution 34 (32.6%) cases had a stable, chronic ORN process, and 26 (25.1%) cases had acute and progressive ORN. CONCLUSION: An understanding of the risk factors is important in preventing ORN after radiation therapy.  相似文献

A comparative study between open and shielded coplanar waveguide (CPW) discontinuities is presented. In this study, the space domain integral equation method is used to characterize several discontinuities such as the open-end CPW and CPW series stubs. Two different geometries of CPW series stubs (straight and bent stubs) are compared with respect to resonant frequency and radiation loss. In addition, the encountered radiation loss due to different CPW shunt stubs is evaluated experimentally. The notion of forced radiation simulation is presented, and the results of such a simulation are compared to the actual radiation loss obtained rigorously. It is shown that such a simulation cannot give reliable results concerning radiation loss from printed circuits.  相似文献

This paper presents a general fullwave analysis for the problem of shielded coplanar stripline (CPS) discontinuities. The analysis is based on the electric field space domain integral equation (SDIE) approach. The Green's functions pertinent to the problem are formulated to take into consideration any number of planar stratified dielectric layers. The method of moments is applied to numerically solve the SDIE for the unknown current distribution over the CPS conductor surface. Numerical results for CPS open-end, series-gap, CPS resonator, and straight CPS series stubs are presented. Early life exposure to sex hormones affects several brain areas involved in regulating locomotor and motivation behaviors. Our group has shown that neonatal exposure to testosterone propionate (TP) or estradiol valerate (EV) affected the brain dopamine (DA) system in adulthood. Here, we studied the long-lasting effects of neonatal exposure to sex hormones on behavioral and neurochemical responses to amphetamine (AMPH) and methylphenidate (MPD). Our results show that AMPH-induced locomotor activity was higher in female than male control rats. The conditioned place preference (CPP) to AMPH was only observed in EV male rats. In EV female rats, AMPH did not increase locomotor activity, but MPD-induced CPP was observed in control, EV and TP female rats. Using in vivo brain microdialysis, we observed that AMPH-induced extracellular DA levels were lower in nucleus accumbens (NAcc) of EV and TP female rats than control rats. In addition, MPD did not increase NAcc extracellular DA levels in EV rats. Using in vivo fast-scan cyclic voltammetry in striatum, MPD-induced DA reuptake was higher in EV than control rats. In summary, our results show that early life exposure to sex hormones modulates mesolimbic and nigrostriatal DA neurons producing opposite neurochemical effects induced by psychostimulant drugs in NAcc or striatum.  相似文献
