Short-time fluctuations in solar irradiance will become an important issue with regard to future embedded photovoltaic (PV) systems. However, when PV systems are intensively installed, fluctuation of total output in clustered PV systems is not remarkable because there is the smoothing effect of irradiance in certain areas. Discotic liquid‐crystalline (LC) physical gels have been prepared by combining the self‐assembled fibers of a low‐molecular‐weight gelator and semiconducting LC triphenylene derivatives. The hole mobilities of the discotic LC physical gels measured by a time‐of‐flight method become higher than those of LC triphenylenes alone. The introduction of the finely dispersed networks of the gelator in the hexagonal columnar phases may affect the molecular dynamics of the liquid crystals, resulting in the enhancement of hole transporting behavior in the LC gel state. 相似文献

Connected component labeling is a frequently used image processing task in many applications. Moreover, in recent years, the use of 3D image data has become widespread, for instance, in 3D X-ray computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. However, because ordinary labeling algorithms use a large amount of memory and 3D images are generally large, labeling 3D image data can cause memory shortages. Furthermore, labeling a large image is time-consuming. In this paper, we proposed new memory-efficient connected component labeling algorithm for 3D images with parallel computing. In this method, we accelerate the labeling process using parallel computing. In addition, we use a spans matrix and compressed label matrix to reduce memory usage. We also use an equivalence chain approach to speed up the calculation. Furthermore, the algorithm has two options for further processing performance or further memory savings. In the experiments on real examples, the proposed algorithm with the option for processing speed was faster and used less memory than the conventional label equivalence method. In contrast, with the proposed method using the memory-efficient option, we could further reduce memory from one-eighth to one-thirteenth that used by the label equivalence method while maintaining the same performance. 相似文献

The enhancement of electron field emission was successfully obtained from carbon nanofiber (CNF) bundles separately grown on Ni grains in Ni-Cr alloy compared with that from CNF bundles on pure nickel. Ni grains less than 1 μm in size were separated by Cr grains in the alloy prepared by cosputtering with Ni pellets on a Cr plate without a lithographic patterning process. CNFs grew on Ni grains as bundles of 100 nm diameter and 1 μm length by helicon wave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition, controlling the distance between adjacent CNF bundles by 500-1000 nm. The field emission characteristics of electrons from CNF bundles were evaluated and compared using current-voltage characteristic curves and a Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) plot converted using a work function value of 4.7 eV for CNFs. The field enhancement factor of FE characteristics obtained from the slopes in the F-N plot increased with the average distance defined as the space between adjacent CNF bundles. CNFs separately grown on a Ni-Cr catalyst are a candidate for effective two-dimensional field emitter devices. 相似文献

Two different forms of rutile-type iridium oxide catalysts were prepared: IrO2-coated titanium plate electrocatalysts prepared by a dip-coating method (IrO2/Ti) and iridium oxide nanoparticles (IrO2) prepared by a wet method, the Adams fusion method. The catalytic behavior of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry in 0.5 M H2SO4 at 60 °C. Both catalysts were found to exhibit considerable activity for the ORR; however, the former oxide electrodes showed higher activity than the latter ones. All the IrO2/Ti catalyst electrodes heat-treated at a temperature between 400 °C and 550 °C showed ca. 0.84 V (vs. RHE) of the onset potential for the ORR, EORR, where the reduction current of oxygen had begun to be observed during the cathodic potential sweep of the test electrodes. It has been confirmed clearly that IrO2, but neither metallic Ir nor the hydrated IrO2, behaves as an active catalyst for the ORR in an acidic solution. It was also demonstrated that the enlargement of the surface area of the IrO2/Ti with the help of lanthanum is effective for the enhancement of the catalytic activity in the reaction. 相似文献

A rigid assembly of alginates is formed in aqueous media primarily via hydrogen bonding between guluronic units. A flow of aqueous alginate solution in a co‐flow capillary can form alginate gel fibers by contact with Ca2+ ions in sheath flow. Mixing with polyols [e.g., polyethylene glycol (PEG)] facilitates the shaping of the alginate assembly because PEG disrupts the assembly of the extended alginate chains to instead form alginate–PEG complexes that exhibit shear‐thinning behavior. The shear‐induced fibrous domains of the globular alginate–PEG complexes can be partitioned by a PEG‐rich phase, resulting in multiple parallel alginate gel filaments when the strong ionic‐field‐induced PEG‐rich phase is adjusted and an alginate–PEG complex phase is used as the aqueous two‐phase separation system. 相似文献

Edwardsiella tarda is a gram-negative bacterial pathogen of fish and animals. A number of gram-negative bacteria have quorum-sensing systems and produce N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) that they use as a quorum-sensing signaling molecule. We have already reported that E. tarda NUF251 produces AHLs and has the AHL-synthase gene, edwI. Inactivation of NUF251 edwI induces expression of an approximately 45 kDa extracellular protein, identified as a flagellin encoded by FliC. Mutation of edwI also changes the motility pattern of NUF251 from a radial expansion pattern to concentric rings. The addition of exogenous AHL was capable of restoring normal motility to NUF251 edwI mutants. These results demonstrate that quorum sensing negatively regulates motility and expression of the FliC protein. 相似文献

by using voxels and tetrahedrons, and the elastic object by using a spring-mass model. A virtual dense elastic object is obtained

Surface photocrosslinking of ethylene–vinyl acetate (EVAc) copolymer films containing benzophenone (BP) was investigated for the purpose of replacing a poly(vinyl chloride) floor. The photogelatin in the EVAc films was effectively observed after UV radiation in the presence of oxygen. The crosslinking reaction was initiated from the surface of the irradiated film, which was mainly due to the dehydrogenation and generation of macroradicals of polymer by the light absorption of BP. The experiments of polyethylene–VAc with BP showed that the VAc‐rich amorphous part in the EVAc copolymer works as a crosslinking site. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
