The present paper describes the evolution of our work concerning the problem of speech recognition. Beginning with a classical hidden Markov model (HMM), we have investigated two ways to improve the performance of this basic structure. The first way was to realize a neuro-statistical hybrid by integrating a multilayer perceptron (MLP) as a posteriori probability estimator. The system was further refined by adding supplementary discriminative training (DT) based on the minimum classification error (MCE). Tests performed on a 15,000 isolated spoken-word database, showed an increase in the recognition rate from 92.2% for the HMM-based recognition system, to 94.7% for the HMM-MLP system, and then to 98.1% for the refined HMM-MLP-DT system. The second way to improve the classical HMM was to build a fuzzy-statistical hybrid, FHMM, based on a fuzzy similarity measure instead of the probabilistic measure specific to the usual statistical model. The benefits of the fuzzy measure introduction were evaluated on a vowel recognition task, and a decrease of approximately 3% in the error rate is reported. 相似文献

Organic semiconductors have sparked interest as flexible, solution processable, and chemically tunable electronic materials. Improvements in charge carrier mobility put organic semiconductors in a competitive position for incorporation in a variety of (opto‐)electronic applications. One example is the organic field‐effect transistor (OFET), which is the fundamental building block of many applications based on organic semiconductors. While the semiconductor performance improvements opened up the possibilities for applying organic materials as active components in fast switching electrical devices, the ability to make good electrical contact hinders further development of deployable electronics. Additionally, inefficient contacts represent serious bottlenecks in identifying new electronic materials by inhibiting access to their intrinsic properties or providing misleading information. Recent work focused on the relationships of contact resistance with device architecture, applied voltage, metal and dielectric interfaces, has led to a steady reduction in contact resistance in OFETs. While impressive progress was made, contact resistance is still above the limits necessary to drive devices at the speed required for many active electronic components. Here, the origins of contact resistance and recent improvement in organic transistors are presented, with emphasis on the electric field and geometric considerations of charge injection in OFETs. 相似文献

Capillary electrophoresis in dilute and semidilute (slightly entangled) hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is shown to separate linear double-stranded DNA (ds-DNA) and supercoiled plasmid DNA in the size range 1-16 thousand base pairs in 3 min. The mobilities of linear ds-DNA fragments are stronger functions of electric field strength and buffer concentration than the mobilities of supercoiled plasmids. The effects of HEC concentration and molecular weight are similar for both forms of DNA. The behavioral differences, which are attributed to the greater stiffness of the plasmids, can be used to define conditions that maximize resolution of supercoiled and linear ds-DNA of the same or similar number of base pairs. 相似文献

The formation of nickel silicides and vanadium silicides and the diffusion barrier effect of a vanadium layer in the formation of nickel silicides were studied for annealed metal films deposited on silicon substrates by depth profiling using secondary ion mass spectrometry and X-ray diffraction. Nickel films more than 2500 Å thick react with silicon after annealing at 400 °C for 30 min in a vacuum. A vanadium layer 250 Å thick between nickel and silicon shows a barrier effect in the nickel silicide formation after annealing at 400 °C for 30 min. The barrier effect of a vanadium layer 250 Å thick becomes imperfect after annealing at 500 °C for 30 min. 相似文献

Novel bioactive materials have been prepared by coating violet resorbable Vicryl sutures with a bioactive glass powder derived from a co-precipitation method. Two techniques have been chosen for the composite preparation: pressing the sutures in a bed of glass powder and slurry-dipping of sutures in liquid suspensions of bioactive glass powders. The uniformity and thickness of the coatings obtained by the two methods were compared. The bioactivity of the sutures with and without bioactive glass coating was tested by soaking in an inorganic acellular simulated body fluid (SBF). The composite sutures were characterised by XRD, SEM and FTIR analyses before and after soaking in SBF solution to assess the formation of hydroxyapatite on their surfaces, which is a qualitative measure of their bioactivity. The possible use of bioactive sutures to produce tissue engineering scaffolds and as reinforcement of resorbable calcium phosphates is discussed. 相似文献

Vitamin D deficiency is still a common problem particularly in the elderly and in individuals with various degrees of renal impairment. The present study aimed to evaluate the association between plasma concentrations of 25(OH)D and death in a large cohort of prevalent patients on hemodialysis (HD) from south‐east Romania, a typical Balkan region. This is an observational prospective study that included a total of 570 patients on maintenance HD. Study patients were classified into three groups by baseline 25(OH)D levels: (1) sufficient 25(OH)D—i.e., >30 ng/mL; (2) insufficient 25(OH)D—i.e., between 10 and 29 ng/mL; and (3) deficient 25(OH)D—i.e., <10 ng/mL. During the follow‐up period of 14 months, 68 patients (11.9%) died, the Kaplan–Meier analysis showing significant differences in all‐cause mortality for chronic kidney disease patients in different 25(OH)D groups (P = 0.002). Unadjusted Cox regression analysis also showed significant differences in survival. The multivariate Cox regression model showed no significant differences in survival according to vitamin D levels. Hazard ratio for death in the “<10 ng/mL” group was 1.619 (P = 0.190) and in the “10–30 ng/mL” group was 0.837 (P = 0.609). In our dialysis population with a high comorbidity burden, low 25(OH)D concentration was not associated with mortality in the adjusted Cox model, suggesting that vitamin D deficiency could represent only a non‐specific marker for a poor health status, with less impact on mortality. 相似文献

Grain boundaries (GBs) are crucial for solar cells incorporating polycrystalline absorbers and particularly for those characterized by small grain sizes (≈2 µm). For example, random GBs in Si solar cells are found to have a detrimental effect on the cell performance being characterized by an increased recombination activity relative to grains. Yet, their role in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cells still remains controversial. The recent electron‐beam‐induced current (EBIC) study shows that 58% of the GBs in CIGS exhibit enhanced electrical properties considered to be benign (for the device performance). Yet, they coexist with 16% detrimental GBs (reduced electrical properties) and 27% neutral ones (no change in electrical property when compared with the bulk). In the present study, these different GBs are investigated by combining EBIC with electron backscattered diffraction and atom probe tomography techniques on identical GBs. For the first time, a successful correlation is shown (for any device) that interconnects the GB characteristics to its composition. Sufficient statistics demonstrate that the collective fluctuations of all elements at GBs determine its trait. In general, benign (detrimental) GBs are characterized by Cu depletion (enrichment) that favored the formation of donor (acceptor) defects. 相似文献

To improve problem‐solving performance, individuals can rely on social learning. This approach is constrained by an individual's social network, which influences the efficiency of the problem‐solving process. To date, research disagrees on what kind of network structure is preferable, providing support for efficient network structures, as well as for inefficient networks. However, studies implicitly assume that solvers always imitate superior solutions, an assumption that lacks empirical grounding. We propose a simple derivation of an existing simulation framework by incorporating a known cognitive bias (‘IKEA effect’), whereby individuals are assumed to prioritize individual information. This effect allows inefficiencies to be embodied at the individual microlevel, reducing the need for inefficiencies at the structural macrolevel. Simulation results explain discrepancies in previous results, illustrating how more realistic microlevel assumptions substantially impact macrolevel outcomes. 相似文献
