In recent years, bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) have drawn much research attention and are shown to be of industrial interest due to their superior mechanical properties and resistance to corrosion. In spite of the interest in harnessing MG for microelectromechanical systems devices, there are limitations in manufacturing such micrometer‐scale structures. A novel approach for the fabrication of 3D MG structures using laser‐induced forward transfer (LIFT) is demonstrated. Inherent tremendous cooling rates associated with the metal LIFT process (≈1010 k s?1) make the formation of a variety of BMGs accessible, including also various binary compositions. In this work, it is demonstrated that LIFT printing of ZrPd‐based metallic glass microstructures can also be performed under ambient conditions. X‐ray diffraction analysis of the printed structures reveals > 95% of amorphous metal phase. Taking advantage of the properties of BMG, high quality printing of high aspect ratio BMG pillars, and microbridges are demonstrated. It is also shown how a composite, amorphous‐crystalline metal structure with a required configuration can be fabricated using multimaterial LIFT printing. The inherent high resolution of the method combined with the noncontact and multimaterial printing capacity makes LIFT a valuable additive manufacturing technique to produce metallic glass‐based devices.  相似文献

The increasing demand for video streaming services with a high Quality of Experience (QoE) has prompted considerable research on client-side adaptation logic approaches. However, most algorithms use the client’s previous download experience and do not use a crowd knowledge database generated by users of a professional service. We propose a new crowd algorithm that maximizes the QoE. We evaluate our algorithm against state-of-the-art algorithms on large, real-life, crowdsourcing datasets. There are six datasets, each of which contains samples of a single operator (T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon) from a single road (I100 or I405). All measurements were from Android cellphones. The datasets were provided by WeFi LTD and are public for academic users. Our new algorithm outperforms all other methods in terms of QoE (eMOS).  相似文献

Millions of people retrieve their emails and files using their smartphones, yet smartphone retrieval of such personal information has never been studied or compared to retrievals from PCs. In our within-subjects study, we compared the retrievals of our 57 participants in four conditions: files using PCs, emails using PCs, files using smartphones, and emails using smartphones. Our results indicate that when using smartphones, retrievals were significantly less successful and efficient than when using PCs, casting doubt on the implicit assumption that the use of these devices is equivalent. Our results also indicate that participants used the search facility for emails about seven times more than for files, which can encourage vendors to invest more efforts in improving email search engines and file navigation systems. Finally, we found that the tendency to search shows interpersonal differences but consistency across different situations for the same individual and therefore can be regarded as a personal trait. Future research can attempt to explain the search tendency trait in terms of cognitive abilities and personality traits, incorporating it to well-established theories. This may pave the way to a new trait-related theory in the field of information science.  相似文献

Active self-assembly processes exploit an energy source to accelerate the movement of building blocks and intermediate structures and modify their interactions. A model system is the assembly of biotinylated microtubules partially coated with streptavidin into linear bundles as they glide on a surface coated with kinesin motor proteins. By tuning the assembly conditions, microtubule bundles with near millimeter length are created, demonstrating that active self-assembly is beneficial if components are too large for diffusive self-assembly but too small for robotic assembly.  相似文献

MIMO radar is a new concept that has recently been proposed as an extension to the multi-static radar systems. We apply the direct position determination (DPD) approach to MIMO radar and obtain maximum likelihood algorithms for a location estimation of a stationary target. It is shown that under low signal to noise ratio DPD improves the estimation accuracy with respect to the traditional location methods.  相似文献

Proving the equivalence of successive, closely related versions of a program has the potential of being easier in practice than functional verification, although both problems are undecidable. There are three main reasons for this claim: (i) it circumvents the problem of specifying what the program should do; (ii) the problem can be naturally decomposed and hence is computationally easier; and (iii) there is an automatic invariant that enables to prove equivalence of loops and recursive functions in most practical cases. A telemetry system is described in which the patient carries small stimulator and monitor units. Typically, the wrist is stimulated with 0.5 ms alternating pulses whose frequency and current (up to 10 mA peak) are remotely controlled by the neurophysiologist via a 20 MHz carrier. At the same time, the synchronized EEG-somatosensory evoked potential is transmitted from C2 via a 100 MHz carrier. The stimulus unit transmits a 100 MHz " flag" signal to the neurophysiologist to indicate that the patient is actually receiving a stimulus signal. Several examples are given in which latencies and amplitudes of the EEG-SEP are recorded.  相似文献

The oxygen nonstoichiometry in Mn-doped Gd2Ti2O7, Gd2(Ti0.975Mn0.025)2O7+x, was measured electrochemically, as a function of temperature and oxygen partial pressure, with the aid of an oxygen titration cell. The analysis of the data shows that the defect equilibrium can be described by considering the dominant point defects to be neutral oxygen interstitials, doubly charged oxygen vacancies, and trivalent and quadrivalent Mn ions substituted in the Ti sites. The enthalpies for the formation of neutral oxygen interstitials and trivalent Mn are determined.  相似文献
