In this study, 5-s long sequences of full-spectrum electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings were used for classifying alert versus drowsy states in an arbitrary subject. EEG signals were obtained from 30 healthy subjects and the results were classified using a wavelet-based neural network. The wavelet-based neural network model, employing the multilayer perceptron (MLP), was used for the classification of EEG signals. A multilayer perceptron neural network (MLPNN) trained with the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm was used to discriminate the alertness level of the subject. In order to determine the MLPNN inputs, spectral analysis of EEG signals was performed using the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) technique. The MLPNN was trained, cross-validated, and tested with training, cross-validation, and testing sets, respectively. The correct classification rate was 93.3% alert, 96.6% drowsy, and 90% sleep. The classification results showed that the MLPNN trained with the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm was effective for discriminating the vigilance state of the subject.  相似文献

An electrically switchable graphene terahertz (THz) modulator with a tunable-by-design optical bandwidth is presented and it is exploited to compensate the cavity dispersion of a quantum cascade laser (QCL). Electrostatic gating is achieved by a metal grating used as a gate electrode, with an HfO2/AlOx gate dielectric on top. This is patterned on a polyimide layer, which acts as a quarter wave resonance cavity, coupled with an Au reflector underneath. The authors achieve 90% modulation depth of the intensity, combined with a 20 kHz electrical bandwidth in the 1.9–2.7 THz range. The modulator is then integrated with a multimode THz QCL. By adjusting the modulator operational bandwidth, the authors demonstrate that the graphene modulator can partially compensate the QCL cavity dispersion, resulting in an integrated laser behaving as a stable frequency comb over 35% of the operational range, with 98 equidistant optical modes and a spectral coverage ~1.2 THz. This paves the way for applications in the terahertz, such as tunable transformation-optics devices, active photonic components, adaptive and quantum optics, and metrological tools for spectroscopy at THz frequencies.  相似文献

Methyl 4-oxo-trans-2-octadecenoate (II), when treated with excess hydrazoic acid in the presence of BF3-etherate, produced 66% methyl 5-aza-nonadec-trans-2-enoate (4,5-d)-tetrazole (III), 10% methyl 5-aza-nonadec-4-oxo-trans-2-enoate (IV) and 7% pentadecamide (V). The system chitosan : ethylene carbonate : LiCF3SO3 was prepared by the solution cast technique. To verify that the conductivity of the material is due to the salt, the electrical conductivity at room temperature of the chitosan acetate film and that of the chitosan acetate films containing different amounts of ethylene carbonate added to it were measured. The order of magnitude of the electrical conductivity was 10–10 S cm–1. Films containing fixed content of chitosan and plasticizer but different amounts of salt were then prepared in the same manner and the highest electrical conductivity obtained was 1.3 × 10–5 S cm–1 at room temperature. These results indicate that the conductivity is due to the salt. Conductivity-temperature studies show that the ln T versus 103/T graphs obey Arrhenius rule implying that the conductivity occurs by way of some thermally assisted mechanism. Polarization current measurement shows that the lithium ion transference number is 0.09. A LiMn2O4/chitosan-LiCF3SO3/C cell was fabricated which cycled between 1.5 to 2.5 V with fading capacity. This could be the result of LiF formation due to interaction between the salt and the fluorine in the binding agent.  相似文献

A capillary switch is a system of two liquid drops, one sessile and the other pendant, obtained by overfilling a hole of radius R in a plate. When surface tension dominates gravity, the equilibrium shapes of the drops are spherical sections of equal radii. If the combined volume of the top VT and bottom VB drops exceeds , the system has three equilibrium states of which two are stable. This bistability is exploited in applications by toggling the system between its two stable states. Here, we examine the effectiveness of using an electric field for toggling. Bifurcation diagrams are obtained that depict how the system's response varies with applied field strength E, and show loss of stability at turning points and the possibility of hysteresis. The reaction of glutaric anhydride with benzene and toluene has been thoroughly studied. 4,4-Diphenyl-pent-4-enoic acid and 1,3-dibenzoyl propane were isolated as by-products of the reaction with benzene. The mechanism of formation of the by-products has been proved. In case of toluene no by-products were detected.  相似文献

It has been found difficult to fully densify some mechanically milled pure metal powders by spark plasma sintering (SPS). In this study, the densification behavior of cryomilled, nanostructured (NS) Cu powders during SPS was related to changes to the chemistry of the powders. The results showed that the presence of very small amounts of O and N in the powders, which were introduced during cryomilling and handling, significantly influenced the densification response. Moreover, reduction/removal of O/N via thermal annealing of the powders before SPS led to complete densification of the powders during subsequent SPS. The mechanisms responsible for this behavior were ascertained: O and N existed in the cryomilled powders in the form of thermally unstable compounds, and the subsequent thermal decomposition of these compounds during SPS generated the gaseous species, leading to porosity formation and incomplete densification; annealing of the powders before SPS removed the gases which resulted from thermal decomposition, thereby facilitating complete consolidation during subsequent SPS.  相似文献

A nominal compositions of BiSrCaCuO (3:2:2:3), (2:2:2:3), (4:3:3:4), and BiPbGaSrCaCuO (3:0.5:2:2:3), (3:0.3:0.3:2:2:3) have been prepared by conventional melt-quenching method. The oxidation behaviors of samples prepared were analyzed using a thermogravimetric analyser, TGA. Total mass gains of samples, average oxidation rates and maximum oxidation rates were calculated separately. TGA measurements of all samples were carried out under the normal atmosphere pressure.  相似文献

A life cycle optimization model intended to potentially reduce the environmental impacts of energy use in commercial buildings is presented. A combination of energy simulation, life cycle assessment, and operations research techniques are used to develop the model. In addition to conventional energy systems, such as the electric grid and a gas boiler, cogeneration systems which concurrently generate power and heat are investigated as an alternative source of energy. Cogeneration systems appeared to be an attractive alternative to conventional systems when considering life cycle environmental criteria. Internal combustion engine and microturbine (MT) cogeneration systems resulted in a reduction of up to 38% in global warming potential compared with conventional systems, while solid oxide fuel cell and MT cogeneration systems resulted in a reduction of up to 94% in tropospheric ozone precursor potential (TOPP). Results include a Pareto-optimal frontier between reducing costs and reducing the selected environmental indicators.  相似文献

All the sensors such as temperature, humidity, and pressure used in industry provide analog outputs as inputs for their control units. Wireless transmission of the data has advantages on wired transmission such as USB port, parallel port and serial port and therefore has great importance for industrial applications. In this work, a new wireless asynchronous data communications module has been developed to send the earth magnetic field data around a ferromagnetic material detected by a KMZ51 AMR sensor. The transmitter module transmits the analog data obtained from a source to a computer environment where they are stored and then presented in a graphical form. In this design, an amplitude shift keying (ASK) transceiver working at the frequency of 433.92 MHz which is a frequency inside the so called Industrial Scientific Medical band (ISM band) used for wireless communications. The analog data first fed into a 10-bit ADC controlled by a PIC microcontroller and then the digital data is sent to the transmitter. A preamble bit string is added in front of the data bits and another bit string for achieving synchronization and determination the start of the data is used. The data arriving at the receiver is taken by the microcontroller and sent to a LCD display as well as the serial port of a computer where it is written in a text file. A Visual Basic based graphics interface is designed to receive, store and present the data in the form of graphical shapes. In the paper, all the work has been explained in detail.  相似文献
