Generator rotor angle measurement is useful in identification of electric machine parameters in the d and q axes and as an indicator of stability of the operating condition. Rotor angle measurements with the appropriate bandwidth are also very useful in observation of rotor torsional oscillations both for monitoring and protection against undamped torsional modes, and for use in control schemes designed to damp torsional oscillations. A method of measurement of synchronous machine rotor angle from an analysis of the phase angle of zero sequence harmonic components of terminal voltage is presented  相似文献

Accurate moulding of polymer foams of density 0.02–0.3 g cm?3 has been achieved by crystallising polyethylene and ethylene/methlacrylate copolymers from dry supercritical solutions. Adherent thick films can be sealed to electronic substrates and are proposed as insulating layers for interconnections on multichip modules and other high-speed electronic devices. The dielectric constant achieved for films of several-mil thickness is between 1.05 and 1.3 and can be tailored along with the physical properties of the film by adjusting the density and composition of the copolymer. Planarisation or complex patterning is possible by detailing the mould.  相似文献

InGaAs/GaAs(100) multiple-quantum-well-based inverted cavity asymmetric Fabry-Perot modulators are vertically integrated with GaAs/AlGaAs heterojunction phototransistors to yield all-optical photonic switches. The photonic switches using `normally on' modulator pixels exhibit an output on-off ratio of 12:1 with internal optical gain of 4 dB. The photonic switches using `normally off' modulator pixels yield similar contrast and gain, but exhibit intrinsic bistable behavior. The inverted cavity modulators employed permit utilizing the transparency of the GaAs substrate at the operating wavelength and offer advantages for fabricating large arrays for optical signal processing  相似文献

Memorializes Richard Solomon, one of the major learning theorists of the 2nd half of the 20th century. Solomon was named the 1st James M. Skinner University Professor of Science in 1975, was elected to the National Academy of Sciences, and was awarded, among other honors, the Warren Medal for research by the Society of Experimental Psychologists, the American Psychological Association Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award, and the American Psychological Foundation's Award for Distinguished Teaching in Experimental Psychology. He conducted research on a broad array of topics such as word frequency and perceptual defense, children's estimation of the size of tokens, hoarding behaviors in rats, and personality ratings and sociometric patterns. His work made a major contribution to the exploration of Pavlovian conditioning. Other topics of research focused on in Solomon's laboratories included avoidance learning, learned helplessness, punishment, and the opponent-process theory of acquired motivation. We previously isolated a mutant cell that is the only mammalian cell reported to have a persistently low level of UDP-glucose. In this work we obtained a spontaneous revertant whose UDP-glucose level lies between those found in the wild type and the mutant cell. The activity of UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (UDPG:PP), the enzyme that catalyzes the formation of UDP-glucose, was in the mutant 4% and in the revertant 56% of the activity found in the wild type cell. Sequence analysis of UDPG: PP cDNAs from the mutant cell showed one missense mutation, which changes amino acid residue 115 from glycine to aspartic acid. The substituted glycine is located within the largest stretch of strictly conserved residues among eukaryotic UDPG:PPs. The analysis of the cDNAs from the revertant cell indicated the presence of an equimolar mixture of the wild type and the mutated mRNAs, suggesting that the mutation has reverted in only one of the alleles. In summary, we demonstrate that the G115D substitution in the Chinese hamster UDPG:PP dramatically impairs its enzymatic activity, thereby causing cellular UDP-glucose deficiency.  相似文献

Ultrasonic waves in echographic mode, combined with autogenous shrinkage measurements, were used to study the evolution of the capillary network of reactive powder concrete (RPC) from the time after the mixing. Two characteristic porous classes have been identified: the first, between 10 and 20 nm, begins when the material reaches its solid hyperstatic state, and the second about 1 or 2 nm. The first class is associated with the porous space between the C-S-H hydrate clusters and the second with the internal porosity of the hydrate. The evolution of the active capillary radius as a function of the degree of hydration allows us to understand the strong interaction between the capillary network size and the chemical activity given by the dissipated calorimetric power curve. Indeed, the maximum point of the chemical activity marks the transition of the first class of pores to the second one. Finally, measurements of electrical conductivity through RPC samples show that after the maximum of the dissipated power, the curve of this electrical conductivity presents the same evolution as the capillary radius. As the electrical conductivity clearly depends on the evolution of the capillary network, the similarity between the results confirms our analysis in pore classes.  相似文献

According to J. F. Dovidio and S. L. Gaertner's (1998) integrated model of racism, politically liberal European Americans tend to express racism differently than conservative European Americans, with liberals demonstrating aversive racism and conservatives, symbolic or modern racism. In support of the model, in Experiment 1 liberals showed bias in favor of a twice-prosecuted African American relative to a European American in their judgment of double jeopardy, whereas conservatives did the reverse. Experiment 2 replicated these effects while eliminating a confound in the design of Experiment 1. Experiment 3 found evidence for the intrapsychic conflict hypothesized to underlie aversive racism. Specifically, only liberals displayed greater physiological arousal to the touch of an African American versus a European American experimenter. Thirty six tests on model tubular steel piles embedded in sand were carried out in the laboratory to assess the effects of compressive load on uplift capacity of piles considering various parameters. The model piles were of 25 mm outside diameter and 2 mm wall thickness. The soil–pile friction angles were 21 and 29° in loose and dense conditions of sand. The piles were embedded in sand for embedment length/diameter ratios of 8,16, and 24 inside a model tank. They were subjected to a static compressive load of 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% of their ultimate capacity in compression and subjected to pull out loading tests. The experimental results indicated that the presence of the compressive load on the pile decreases the net uplift capacity of a pile and the decrease depends on the magnitude of the compressive load. A logical approach, based on the experimental results, has been suggested to predict the net uplift capacity of a pile considering the presence of compressive load.  相似文献

A method of calculation of the lifetime of fish-mouth collar joints has been proposed that is based on selecting a model and using the criteria of fracture mechanics. By this method it is possible to optimize the design parameters of collar joints as a function of the cyclic crack resistance of steels. It is shown that the lifetime of a collar joint with a fatigue crack can be predicted, and the size of the crack can be estimated for a certain operating time of the collar joint. The critical values of the length of a fatigue crack were calculated for various types and dimensions of collar joints, which is important in fixing the periodicity of crack detection operations.  相似文献
