In an advanced manufacturing system, accurate assessment of tool life estimation is very essential for optimising the cutting performance in turning operations. Estimation of tool life generally requires considerable time and material and hence it is a relatively expensive procedure. In this present work, back-propagation feed forward artificial neural network (ANN) has been used for tool life prediction. Speed, feed, depth of cut and flank wear were taken as input parameters and tool life as an output parameter. Twenty-five patterns were used for training the network. Recently there have been significant research efforts to apply evolutionary computational techniques for determining the network weights. Hence an evolutionary technique named particle swarm optimisation has been used instead of a back-propagation algorithm and it is proven that the experimental results matched well with the values predicted by both artificial neural network with back-propagation and the proposed method. It is found that the computational time is greatly reduced by this method .  相似文献

Healthy Body Healthy Spirit was a multicomponent intervention to increase fruit and vegetable (F & V) consumption and physical activity (PA) delivered through Black churches. Sixteen churches were randomly assigned to 3 intervention conditions. At baseline, 1,056 individuals were recruited across the 16 churches, of which 906 (86%) were assessed at 1-year follow-up. Group 1 received standard educational materials, Group 2 received culturally targeted self-help nutrition and PA materials, and Group 3 received the same intervention as did Group 2 as well as 4 telephone counseling calls based on motivational interviewing (MI) delivered over the course of 1 year. At 1-year follow-up, Groups 2 and 3 showed significant changes in both F & V intake and PA. Changes were somewhat larger for F & V. Laser speckle interferometry has been used to determine the displacement pattern on the chest wall produced by the heart action during the systolic phase of the cardiac cycle. The time averaged specklegram, recorded in the image plane, is scanned by the pointwise method. From the values of the spacings of Young's fringes, measured at various points, the corresponding displacement pattern in the form of a 40 x 30 matrix, equal to that of the cardiac region, is reconstructed and color-coded by a PDP 11/23 image processor. This pattern shows significant variations in displacements at various locations. Depending on the clinical status of the subjects, further changes in the pattern are observed. The reconstructed cardiac displacement patterns, obtained by this new noncontact and noninvasive technique, provide information on the functioning of various parts of the heart in cardiac disorders which are in qualitative agreement with that of two-dimensional echocardiography.  相似文献

Spinel lithium manganese oxide, LiMn2O4, is beset with problems of capacity fade upon repeated cycling. The loss in capacity upon cycling is attributable to Jahn-Teller distortion and manganese dissolution in the electrolyte in the charged state. One way to circumvent this capacity fade is to introduce other 3d bdtransition metal ions in the LiMn2O4 lattice. In this paper, we report on the effect of partial substitution of manganese in the LiMn2O4 phase with copper (II) and chromium (III) ions. It has been shown that the higher octahedral stabilization energy of trivalent chromium imparts greater structural stability to chromium-doped LiMn2O4 spinels. Both copper and chromium reduce the capacity of the spinel in the 4 V region. In terms of its good reversible capacity and ability to sustain cycling with minimal capacity fade, LiCr0.1Mn1.9O4 may be considered as a potential cathode material for lithium rechargeable cells.  相似文献

We have synthesized Mn-doped CdS nanocrystals (NCs) with size ranging from 1.8–3 nm. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the doped NCs differ from that of the undoped NCs with an additional peak due to Mn d-d transitions. Electron paramagnetic resonance spectra along with X-ray absorption spectroscopy and PL spectra confirm the incorporation of Mn in the CdS lattice. The fact that emissions from surface states and the Mn d levels occur at two different energies, allowed us to study the PL lifetime decay behaviour of both kinds of emissions.  相似文献

Male Wistar rats were treated with aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). Live as well as methanol-fixed cauda epididymal spermatozoa were stained with acridine orange (AO) and ethidium bromide (EB) and observed under a fluorescence microscope. Giemsa-stained smears were observed in a bright field microscope. Unstained smears were observed with phase contrast illumination. The axoneme of more than 10% of the spermatozoa of treated rats had the outer dense fibres (ODFs), in varying numbers, and the associated axonemal microtubule doublets of the flagellum extruded either at midpiece-principal piece junction or connecting piece. This could be perceived in all light microscopic preparations, but AO-EB staining offered an advantage of the assessment of the viability as well. TEM observation of sections of the testis and cauda epididymidis also revealed ODF extrusion, as seen in the transverse sections of sperm flagella missing one or more ODFs and the associated axonemal microtubule doublets. In a few such sections, the extruded elements were seen in the cytoplasm, outside the mitochondrial sheath or peripheral sheath. Marginal to severe mitochondrial pathologies were observed in the spermatozoa and elongated spermatids, suggesting a link between AFB1-induced sperm mitochondrial pathology and extrusion of ODFs. However, the possibility that AFB1 treatment would disrupt the cytoskeletal proteins of the flagellum, resulting in the extrusion of ODFs, cannot be excluded. This sperm abnormality is reported for the first time as produced by a dietary toxin. Dietary aflatoxins, therefore, could also be contributory factors for the deterioration of the reproductive health of men.  相似文献

Cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure are known to be associated with a reduction in Ca2+-ATPase pump levels of the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). To determine whether, and to what extent, alterations in Ca2+ pump numbers can affect contraction and relaxation parameters of the heart, we have overexpressed the cardiac SR Ca2+-ATPase specifically in the mouse heart using the alpha-myosin heavy chain promoter. Analysis of 2 independent transgenic lines demonstrated that sarco(endo)plasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase isoform (SERCA2a) mRNA levels were increased 3.88+/-0. 4-fold and 7.90+/-0.2-fold over those of the control mice. SERCA2a protein levels were increased by 1.31+/-0.05-fold and 1.54+/-0. 05-fold in these lines despite high levels of mRNA, suggesting that complex regulatory mechanisms may determine the SERCA2a pump levels. The maximum velocity of Ca2+ uptake (Vmax) was increased by 37%, demonstrating that increased pump levels result in increased SR Ca2+ uptake function. However, the apparent affinity of the SR Ca2+-ATPase for Ca2+ remains unchanged in transgenic hearts. To evaluate the effects of overexpression of the SR Ca2+ pump on cardiac contractility, we used the isolated perfused work-performing heart model. The transgenic hearts showed significantly higher myocardial contractile function, as indicated by increased maximal rates of pressure development for contraction (+dP/dt) and relaxation (-dP/dt), together with shortening of the normalized time to peak pressure and time to half relaxation. Measurements of intracellular free calcium concentration and contractile force in trabeculae revealed a doubling of Ca2+ transient amplitude, with a concomitant boost in contractility. The present study demonstrates that increases in SERCA2a pump levels can directly enhance contractile function of the heart by increasing SR Ca2+ transport.  相似文献
