We develop a mixed finite‐element approximation scheme for Kirchhoff plate theory based on the reformulation of Kirchhoff plate theory of Ortiz and Morris [1]. In this reformulation the moment‐equilibrium problem for the rotations is in direct analogy to the problem of incompressible two‐dimensional elasticity. This analogy in turn opens the way for the application of diamond approximation schemes (Hauret et al. [2]) to Kirchhoff plate theory. We show that a special class of meshes derived from an arbitrary triangulation of the domain, the diamond meshes, results in the automatic satisfaction of the corresponding inf ? sup condition for Kirchhoff plate theory. The attendant optimal convergence properties of the diamond approximation scheme are demonstrated by means of the several standard benchmark tests. We also provide a reinterpretation of the diamond approximation scheme for Kirchhoff plate theory within the framework of discrete mechanics. In this interpretation, the discrete moment‐equilibrium problem is formally identical to the classical continuous problem, and the two differ only in the choice of differential structures. It also follows that the satisfaction of the inf ? sup condition is a property of the cohomology of a certain discrete transverse differential complex. This close connection between the classical inf ? sup condition and cohomology evinces the important role that the topology of the discretization plays in determining convergence in mixed problems. In today??s competitive scenario of increasingly faster deliveries and smaller order sizes, a solution that is being used more frequently is the pick-and-pass Order Picking System (OPS). The purpose of this study is to define a framework for the pick-and-pass system design, by expanding previous literature on this topic. The framework aims at minimising the overall picking costs while respecting the required service level (i.e. order throughput time), and can be easily applied to the selection stage of OPS design. The number of zones and the number of pickers per zone are among the main project data for the framework application. Analytical models are used to estimate the travel distance, and network queuing theory to analyse the mean order throughput. On the basis of the proposed framework, pick-and-pass system performance is examined as a function of two typical design conditions: order size and number of items. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: We compared hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) collection and neoplastic cell contamination in breast cancer patients given cyclophosphamide (CTX) plus granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) or G-CSF alone for mobilization. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In 57 stage II-III breast cancer patients, CD34+ cells, colony-forming units-granulocyte macrophage (CFU-GM), early HPC and breast cancer cells were counted in HPC collections obtained after CTX plus G-CSF (n = 27) or G-CSF-alone mobilization (n = 30). RESULTS: The CD34+ cell collection was about two-fold greater after CTX plus G-CSF mobilization (11.0 +/- 7.9 vs. 5.8 +/- 3.5 x 10(6)/kg, P < 0.001). Similarly, the total number of CFU-GM, CD34+CD38- cells and of week-5 cobblestone area forming cells (CAFC) collected was significantly higher in patients mobilized with CTX plus G-CSF. Breast cancer cells were found in the apheresis products of 22% of patients mobilized with CTX plus G-CSF and in 10% of patients mobilized with G-CSF alone (P = 0.36). Of seven patients who failed G-CSF-alone mobilization and eventually underwent chemotherapy plus G-CSF mobilization, none had cytokeratin-positive cells after G-CSF mobilization, whereas four out of seven had cytokeratin-positive cells after chemotherapy plus G-CSF (P = 0.07 by chi 2 test). CONCLUSION: The CTX plus G-CSF mobilization protocol was associated with a significantly higher HPC collection. However, this benefit was not accompanied by a reduction in the incidence of tumor-contaminated HPC graft. 相似文献

The effect of ripening temperature elevation and sampling site on lipolysis in Reggianito Argentino cheese was evaluated. Cheeses ripened at 12 or 18 °C and 85% relative humidity were assayed at 2, 4 and 6 months at two sampling zones (central and external). Samples were analysed to determine physicochemical parameters and the concentration of nine free fatty acids (FFAs) (C6:0–C18:2). Myristic, palmitic, stearic and oleic acids were found in higher concentration. While ripening time and temperature significantly affected the concentrations of the nine FFAs analysed, sampling zone significantly affected only two FFAs. Ripening temperature increased the lipolytic process, but it seems to have no effect on the pathways of lipolysis in Reggianito Argentino cheese. 相似文献

A recent, automated material-handling technology for unit load storage and retrieval consists of an autonomous vehicle storage and retrieval system (AVS/RS). The present paper presents an analytical model to estimate the performances (the transaction cycle time and waiting times) of AVS/RS for product tote movement. One dimensional simulation codes are still widely used for modelling unsteady flows in intake and exhaust pipes of internal combustion engines. The discontinuous finite element method (DFEM) shows some advantages with respect to finite difference schemes particularly when dealing with non-uniform grids or mixed one-dimensional/multi-dimensional models. Its main drawback is the quite high computational effort required. Here a way is proposed to efficiently implement and speed up a DFEM algorithm mainly through approximate matrix inversion and optimization of the CFL convergence parameter. This paper focuses the attention on the ch-index, a recent bibliometric indicator similar to the Hirsch (h) index, to evaluate the published research output of a scientist (Ajiferuke and Wolfram, Proceedings of the 12th international

Ch-index is defined as the number such that, for a general group of scientific publications, ch publications are cited by at least ch different citers while the other publications are cited by no more than ch different

Acid mine drainages (AMD) have adversely affected the southern Apuan Alps (northern Tuscany, Italy). The study particularly focuses on the Baccatoio stream, which receives AMD from the abandoned Pollone and M. Arsiccio mines. The mine waters have an average pH of 2.2 and contain potentially toxic elements (PTE) at concentrations that exceed the Italian regulatory threshold for Al, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, As, Ni, Co, Cd, Sb, Pb, and Tl. The AMD flow directly into the stream, severely contaminating it. Downstream of the mined areas, the pH increases and most PTE (especially Fe, Al, As, and Pb) are readily scavenged from the stream waters by precipitation and/or adsorption. However, Tl, which peak at 1000 µg/L in the AMD, behaves almost conservatively along the stream flow path, undergoing only dilution, and remains at or above the concentration of concern of 4 µg/L almost to the coastline, before sharply decreasing to 0.5 µg/L where seawater is encountered. Since the stream water was locally used for irrigation, these observations may have important environmental and public health consequences in such a densely populated area. 相似文献

This correspondence presents an upper bound on the minimum distance of serially concatenated codes with interleaver where the inner code is a systematic recursive convolutional encoder and the outer code is any convolutional encoder. The resulting expression shows that the minimum distance of the concatenated code cannot grow more than O(K1-1/df (O)), where K is the information word length, and df (O) is the free distance of the outer code.
