Lipofibromatous hamartoma of the nerve is a very uncommon congenital tumor. An association between this condition and vascular malformations is not well known. We present an 11-year-old girl with a lipofibromatous hamartoma of the right median nerve with macrodactyly. She had small red macules on her right neck, chest, and arm, which were diagnosed clinically as port-wine stains. The specimens of the enlarged nerves showed fibrous and fatty growth surrounding the nerve bundles and proliferation of the small veins. We suggest that this disorder can be accompanied by a vascular malformation.  相似文献

Atom lithography provides a new technology that enables one to write directly nanometer scale structures onto a substrate in a parallel process. With this technique the trajectories of atoms are manipulated by light forces that efficiently focus the atoms in a standing light field produced by a laser. By chosing different standing light field configurations one can write different periodic patterns. Theoretical calculations predict a linewidth of the deposited structures in the range of 10–20 nm. The technique is a parallel, direct and species selective process involving low particle energy that prevents any damage of the substrate.  相似文献

The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) is responsible for recycling of IgG antibodies and albumin throughout the body. This mechanism has been exploited for pharmaceutic delivery across an array of diseases to either enhance or diminish this function. Monoclonal antibodies and albumin-bound nanoparticles are examples of FcRn-dependent anti-cancer therapeutics. Despite its importance in drug delivery, little is known about FcRn expression in circulating immune cells. Through time-of-flight mass cytometry (CyTOF) we were able to characterize FcRn expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) populations of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients and non-cancer donors. Furthermore, we were able to replicate these findings in an orthotopic murine model of PDAC. Altogether, we found that in both patients and mice with PDAC, FcRn was elevated in migratory and resident classical dendritic cell type 2 (cDC2) as well as monocytic and granulocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) populations compared to tumor-free controls. Furthermore, PBMCs from PDAC patients had elevated monocyte, dendritic cells and MDSCs relative to non-cancer donor PBMCs. Future investigations into FcRn activity may further elucidate possible mechanisms of poor efficacy of antibody immunotherapies in patients with PDAC.  相似文献

Buried potable waterpipes are susceptible to permeation by organic solvents. In studying piping made of PVC, asbestos/cement, and ductile iron, full-pipe assemblies and laboratory bench techniques were employed. Elastomeric gaskets for all three systems become permeated, at least under exaggerated conditions. Results show that thermodynamic activity, as opposed to concentration, is the driving force. At solvent activities well above those encountered in typical soil, PVC is seen to be an effective barrier against permeation.  相似文献
