PkFit — a user friendly software for the Macintosh, Open VMS and UNIX workstations - is intended for the data processing of neutron three-axis spectrometers. Inelastic, quasi-elastic or elastic spectra are fitted by a linear background plus a series of peak functions. The program offers several built-in peak functions but the user may add its own peak shapes through stand-alone code resources. The model can include the Bose factor, the kf or ki correction, the neutron absorption and the convolution of the signal with a one-dimensional or a four-dimensional resolution function. The latter is calculated from the configuration parameters of the spectrometer through the help of the Cooper-Nathans method or the Popovici method. Fast 4D integration is performed by means of new methods, one based on a Monte-Carlo integration technique and the other based on a Gaussian approximation.  相似文献

The interaction of nucleolin with a short stem-loop structure (NRE) requires two contiguous RNA-binding domains (RBD 1+2). The structural basis for RNA recognition by these RBDs was studied using a genetic system in Escherichia coli. Within each of the two domains, we identified several mutations that severely impair interaction with the RNA target. Mutations that alter RNA-binding specificity were also isolated, suggesting the identity of specific contacts between RBD 1+2 amino acids and nucleotides within the NRE stem-loop. Our data indicate that both RBDs participate in a joint interaction with the NRE and that each domain uses a different surface to contact the RNA. The constraints provided by these genetic data and previous mutational studies have enabled us to propose a three-dimensional model of nucleolin RBD 1+2 bound to the NRE stem-loop.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to present an experimental study of impact and compression after impact (CAI) tests performed on composite laminate covered with a cork thermal shield (TS) intended for launchers fairing. Drop weight impact tests have been performed on composite laminate sheets with and without TS in order to study its effect on the impact damage. The results show the TS is a good mechanical protection towards impact as well as a good impact revealing material. Nevertheless, totally different damage morphology is obtained during the impact test with or without TS, and in particular at high impact energy, the delaminated area is larger with TS. Afterwards, CAI tests have been performed in order to evaluate the TS effect on the residual strength. The TS appears to increase the residual strength for a same impact energy, but at the same time, it presents a decrease in residual strength before observing delamination. In fact, during the impact tests with TS, invisible fibres’ breakages appear before delamination damage contrary to the impacts on the unshielded sheets.  相似文献

Cytosolic and mitochondrial alterations induced by exposure of rat astroglial primary cultures to reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by a xanthine/xanthine oxidase (X/XO) mixture or by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) have been investigated biochemically and immunochemically. In the presence of ROS generated by X/XO, a significant decrease in Cu,Zn superoxide dismutase (Cu,Zn-SOD) and in glutamine synthetase (GS) activity was observed whereas mitochondrial Mn-SOD activity and enzyme protein levels were significantly enhanced. Similar effects on GS, Cu,Zn- and Mn-SOD activities were observed by glucose/glucose oxidase treatment of the cells. Addition of LPS to the cell growth medium also specifically induces Mn-SOD synthesis but was without effect on Cu,Zn-SOD. It is suggested that in all these tested situations, hydrogen peroxide could represent a specific inducer of the observed phenomenon and it may therefore be considered as an intracellular messenger involved in the regulation of some aspects of astroglial oxidative metabolism, particularly the defence against ROS.  相似文献

We show that the natural autoantibody activity of amniotic IgG dramatically increases after purification, and that the IgG-depleted fraction can suppress the activity of IgG natural antibodies from amniotic fluid or from the maternal serum. This suppression is also observed towards serum IgG from unrelated adults but does not impair the tetanus antitoxin activity of serum-derived IgG. Absorption experiments and immunoglobulin separation by gel permeation demonstrate that this suppression is due to monomeric immunoglobulins of the IgA isotype. The inhibition is associated with an anti-F(ab')2 activity of the amniotic IgA, involving hypervariable regions of the IgG as demonstrated by different reactivities towards monoclonal IgG sharing the same family of VH and Vkappa domains. These results indicate that the inhibition of natural autoantibodies not only occurs with fetal and adult serum IgM, as reported by other groups, but also with amniotic IgA, suggesting a general and important phenomenon. In the case of the amniotic fluid, IgA could protect the fetus against maternal IgG autoantibodies without interfering with simultaneously translocated antigen-induced IgG antibodies to pathogens.  相似文献

Phylogenetic relationships between European cyprinids (Teleostei:Cypriniformes:Cyprinidae) were investigated by comparing cytochrome b gene sequences from 29 species, among which 20 were newly sequenced. Results were in general agreement with previous morphologically-based studies, but new interesting relationships were found. The classical barbelled/lacking barbels split is dubious. Genus Leuciscus appears paraphyletic. The phylogenetic location of some American cyprinid species was recovered; at least two distinct invasions of the New World are likely. Finally, the problem of intergeneric cyprinid hybrids is addressed. The genus rank for these interbreeding entities is supported and hybrids are seen as the consequence of a high genetic flexibility. This is the first molecularly based study of cyprinid diversity. It sheds light on the evolution and taxonomy of this major freshwater fish family.  相似文献

A multicentric prospective trial was conducted to evaluate the frequency and kind of blood exposure in operating room. From march to june 1992, 3554 procedures were observed in 22 surgical units (visceral, orthopaedic and vascular), with 129 surgeons, 133 residents and 216 nurses. Statistic analysis was done on Epi Info 5 (CDC Atlanta) and EGRET (Statistic and Epidemiology Research Corporation, Seattle). 11.7% of procedures were the case for an incidental blood exposure: 4.2% for percutaneous exposure; 8.4% for cutaneous or mucosal exposure. Rates change with the surgical specialty. Surgeons were involved in 50.7% of percutaneous exposure and 58.7% of the cutaneous or mucosal exposures, especially when they were operators (respectively 2 and 5.6% person-act). A significative rate was founded between incidental blood exposure and the length of procedure, the sepsis character of the procedure, but not with emergency or number of globular units transfused. To diminish the incidental blood exposure and its risks, this data suggests three kinds of practice: a better work for vaccination; in our study 59% of surgeons declare an adequate vaccination against hepatitis B; a best operative hygiene, with knowing of risks factor of blood exposure, depending of the kind of procedure, changing between different units; the use of protections: non coated dressing, double gloving, ocular protection.  相似文献

The encapsulation of enzymes within silica gels has been extensively studied during the past decade for the design of biosensors and bioreactors. Yeast spores and bacteria have also been recently immobilized within silica gels where they retain their enzymatic activity, but the problem of the long-term viability of whole cells in an inorganic matrix has never been fully addressed. It is a real challenge for the development of sol-gel processes. Generic tests have been performed to check the viability of Escherichia coli bacteria in silica gels. Surprisingly, more bacteria remain culturable in the gel than in an aqueous suspension. The metabolic activity of the bacteria towards glycolysis decreases slowly, but half of the bacteria are still viable after one month. When confined within a mineral environment, bacteria do not form colonies. The exchange of chemical signals between isolated bacteria rather than aggregates can then be studied, a point that could be very important for 'quorum sensing'.  相似文献

Accurate planning of radiation therapy entails the definition of treatment volumes and a clear delimitation of normal tissue of which unnecessary exposure should be prevented. The spinal cord is a radiosensitive organ, which should be precisely identified because an overexposure to radiation may lead to undesired complications for the patient such as neuronal disfunction or paralysis. In this paper, a knowledge-based approach to identifying the spinal cord in computed tomography images of the thorax is presented. The approach relies on a knowledge-base which consists of a so-called anatomical structures map (ASM) and a task-oriented architecture called the plan solver. The ASM contains a frame-like knowledge representation of the macro-anatomy in the human thorax. The plan solver is responsible for determining the position, orientation and size of the structures of interest to radiation therapy. The plan solver relies on a number of image processing operators. Some are so-called atomic (e.g., thresholding and snakes) whereas others are composite. The whole system has been implemented on a standard PC. Experiments performed on the image material from 23 patients show that the approach results in a reliable recognition of the spinal cord (92% accuracy) and the spinal canal (85% accuracy). The lamina is more problematic to locate correctly (accuracy 72%). The position of the outer thorax is always determined correctly.  相似文献
