Austenite formation during intercritical annealing   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A systematic experimental study has been conducted on ferrite recrystallization and intercritical austenite formation for two low-carbon steels with chemical compositions typically used for dual-phase and transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steels. Different initial heating rates, holding temperatures, and times were applied to the materials to examine the ferrite recrystallization and austenite formation kinetics. An Avrami model was developed to describe the isothermal ferrite recrystallization behavior and was applied successfully to the nonisothermal conditions. It was found that the initial heating rate affects the isothermal austenite formation kinetics for both the hot-rolled and cold-rolled materials albeit the effect is more pronounced for the cold-rolled material. This can be attributed to the interaction between the ferrite recrystallization and austenite formation processes. Furthermore, it was found that the distribution of austenite phase is also affected by the ferrite recrystallization process. When ferrite recrystallization is completed before the austenite formation (i.e., under sufficiently slow heating rate conditions), austenite is to a large extent randomly distributed in the ferrite matrix. On the other hand, incomplete recrystallization of ferrite due to higher heating rates leads to the formation of banded austenite grains. It is proposed that this observation is characteristic of simultaneous recrystallization and austenite formation where moving ferrite grain boundaries do not provide suitable sites for austenite nucleation.  相似文献

The stable oil-in-water emulsion contained in wool scouring effluent was destabilised by aerobic biological treatment as the basis of a potential new effluent treatment process. The de-emulsified wool wax, which is recalcitrant to biodegradation, can then be readily removed by centrifugation. In 12-day batch experiments, 97% of wool wax and 87% of COD were removed after gentle centrifuging at 200 x g, compared to only 6% and 8%, respectively, for sterile controls. Steady-state chemostat experiments under optimum conditions gave essentially complete removal of wool wax and 90% removal of COD at less than 40 h retention time, and demonstrated that the mechanism of pollutant removal was by bioflocculation rather than aerobic degradation. At 100 L pilot scale, 95% of wool wax and 82% of COD were consistently removed over a period of 116 days of continuous operation at 38 h retention time and 30 degrees C, producing a spadable sludge of 5.7 mL/g. Variable influent concentration or filamentous bacteria did not disrupt this process and foaming was readily controlled using a mechanical foam breaker. After a shutdown period of 15 days the process could be restarted easily, achieving normal performance within one retention time. The successful operation of the pilot reactor suggests this process could be developed to full scale and incorporated into an overall treatment package.  相似文献

A method that predicts the effect of particular defects on the failure rate of metal interconnections in semiconductor integrated circuits due to electromigration is presented. The defects of interest are missing material that reduces the effective cross section of the conductor at the point of the defect. Reliability measures for the conductor are computed from a given defect distribution. These defects appreciably increase conductor failure rate during early life but have little effect on median life for linewidths above 1 μm. However, for defect densities typically encountered in current semiconductor manufacturing environments a rapid decrease in median life is predicted for conductors less than 0.30 μm wide. This result extends the practical data for submicron conductors. Poorer median life as well as poorer yield due to these defects will ultimately limit the trend toward narrower linewidths unless a way is found to overcome this problem  相似文献

The authors addressed whether individual differences in the working memory capacity (WMC) of young adults influence susceptibility to false memories for nonpresented critical words in the Deese-Roediger-McDermott associative list paradigm. The results of 2 experiments indicated that individuals with greater WMC recalled fewer critical words than individuals with reduced WMC when participants were forewarned about the tendency of associative lists (e.g., bed, rest, . . .) to elicit illusory memories for critical words (e.g., sleep). In contrast, both high and low WMC participants used repeated study-test trials to reduce recall of critical words. These findings suggest that individual differences in WMC influence cognitive control and the ability to actively maintain task goals in the face of interfering information or habit. Heaving of pavements and a building foundation became progressively worse on a project at Holloman Air Force Base (AFB), N.M. The cause of the heaving was identified as sulfate attack on recycled concrete used as fill and base course below the buildings and pavements. This recycled concrete came from sulfate-resistant airfield Portland concrete pavement that had existed for decades at Holloman AFB without distress. However, severe sulfate exposure conditions, ready availability of water, the more permeable nature of the crushed recycled concrete, less common thaumasite attack, possible soil contamination as a secondary source of alumina, or some combination of these factors allowed sulfate attack to develop in the recycled material even though it had not in the original concrete pavement.  相似文献

The fabrication, properties and composition of heated phosphate-bonded clay bricks are reported. The strength of phosphate-bonded clay bodies is shown to be related to the equilibrium pH of the clay mix. The highest strengths were obtained for mixes with equilibrium pH 7 fired at 500°C which gave a modulus of rupture 60% higher than the unmodified clay heated under similar conditions but at 800°C firing temperature. The phosphate-bonded products were also of low porosity and improved dimensional stability. An insight into the probable mechanism of strength development of the heated product has been obtained from XRD, SEM and DSC studies. The results show that the properties of the phosphate-bonded clay bodies are critically affected by new mineral phases resulting from the reactions of phosphates with clay which subsequently undergo physico-chemical changes above 550°C.  相似文献

The theory of urethral resistance and the derivation or mural tension have been discussed. A method for the continuous calculation and presentation of these parameters has been described.
