The backbone of diketopyrrolopyrrole-thiophene-vinylene-thiophene-based polymer semiconductors (PSCs) is modified with pyridine (Py) or bipyridine ligands to complex Fe(II) metal centers, allowing the metal–ligand complexes to act as mechanophores and dynamically crosslink the polymer chains. Mono- and bi-dentate ligands are observed to exhibit different degrees of bond strengths, which subsequently affect the mechanical properties of these Wolf-type-II metallopolymers. The counter ion also plays a crucial role, as it is observed that Py-Fe mechanophores with non-coordinating BPh4 counter ions (Py-FeB) exhibit better thin film ductility with lower elastic modulus, as compared to the coordinating chloro ligands (Py-FeC). Interestingly, besides mechanical robustness, the electrical charge carrier mobility can also be enhanced concurrently when incorporating Py-FeB mechanophores in PSCs. This is a unique observation among stretchable PSCs, especially that most reports to date describe a decreased mobility when the stretchability is improved. Next, it is determined that improvements to both mobility and stretchability are correlated to the solid-state molecular ordering and dynamics of coordination bonds under strain, as elucidated via techniques of grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy techniques, respectively. This study provides a viable approach to enhance both the mechanical and the electronic performance of polymer-based soft devices.  相似文献

The concept of tailored interfaces has been applied to the synthesis of nanoscale α-Al2O3. Tween-80 (poly-oxyethylene(20) sorbitan monooleate, T-80) was used as a surface modifier in the sol–gel process for this purpose. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy study of the powder obtained with T-80 confirmed the particle size of α-Al2O3 (∼55 nm) and morphology (spherical). The exothermic peak temperature in the differential thermal analysis was shifted to a lower temperature (∼917°C) when the powder was derived from a T-80 modifier content of 10 wt%. X-ray diffraction showed that the α-Al2O3 phase was the major phase that existed in modifier-derived powder that was sintered at 1000°C. The experiments, based on linear shrinkage, indicated that the powder with T-80 (10 wt%) could be densified at a low temperature.  相似文献

The influence of notches on the static tensile strenght, low-cycle fatigue strength, and creep rupture strength was investigated for selected polymeric materials. This investigation was prompted by the unusual phenomena of necking and notch strengthening observed in some glass fiber reinforced plastic materials. Two types of epoxy resin, polymethyl methacrylate and polycarbonate, were studied under static tensile loading. Three sizes of semicircular symmetrical side notch on flat specimens were investigated. It was observed that one of the epoxies was very notch sensitive, while the other exhibited significant (and maximum, out of all the polymers tested) notch strengthening in tensile loading. Perspex and polycarbonate showed a small notch sensitivity for the smallest and intermediate notches but notch strengthening for the biggest notch. The epoxy resin which exhibited notch strengthening was also tested with different percentages of hardener; for the biggest and the intermediate notches, there was a notch strengthening effect and unnotched as well as notched tensile strength showed a peak around 14% hardener. The epoxy which exhibited notch strengthening in tensile loading was next tested in low-cycle fatigue and creep loading. The behavior in low-cycle fatigue and creep loading was remarkably similar: it was found that for this polymer, the notch sensitivity was small in the case of the smallest and intermediate notches, whereas there was a significant notch strengthening effect in the case of the biggest notch. It is recommended that notch-strengthening behavior be added to the other criteria for the selection of matrices for composite materials.  相似文献

A junction device has been fabricated by growing p-type Bi2Te3 topological insulator (TI) film on an n-type silicon (Si) substrate using a thermal evaporation technique. Annealing using different temperatures and durations was employed to improve the quality of the film, as confirmed by microstructural study using x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The pn diode characteristics of the junction devices were studied, and the effect of annealing investigated. An improved diode characteristic with good rectification ratio (RR) was observed for devices annealed for longer duration. Reduction in the leakage or reverse saturation current (\( I_{\rm{R}} \)) was observed with increase in the annealing temperature. The forward-bias current (\( I_{\rm{F}} \)) dropped in devices annealed above 400°C. The best results were observed for the sample device annealed at 450°C for 3 h, showing figure of merit (FOM) of 0.621 with RR ≈ 504 and \( I_{\rm{R}} \) = 0.25 μA. In terms of ideality factor, the sample device annealed at 550°C for 2 h was found to be the best with \( n \) = 6.5, RR ≈ 52.4, \( I_{\rm{R}} \) = 0.61 μA, and FOM = 0.358. The majority-carrier density \( \left( {N_{\rm{A}} } \right) \) in the p-Bi2Te3 film of the heterojunction was found to be on the order of 109/cm3 to 1011/cm3, quite close to its intrinsic carrier concentration. These results are significant for fundamental understanding of device applications of TI materials as well as future applications in solar cells.  相似文献

Electron beam (EB)-irradiation is increasingly being preferred to radioactive-based gamma irradiation in overcoming the constraints that affect the quality of food material. Soybean seeds of 3 soybean genotypes were exposed to 4 doses viz. 4.8, 9.2, 15.3 and 21.2 kGy of EB-irradiation and assessed for the changes in the contents of lipoxygenase isozymes and tocopherol isomers. Densitometry of protein profile revealed decreasing intensity of lipoxygenase with increasing EB dose. All the 3 lipoxygenase isozymes viz. lipoxygenase-1, -2 and -3 registered significant (P < 0.05) increasing reduction with increasing dose; though genotypic variation was noted for the magnitude of reduction at the same dose. Concomitantly, all the 3 genotypes exhibited significant (P < 0.05) decline in α-, γ- and δ-isomers of tocopherol. δ-Tocopherol was the most sensitive to EB-irradiation. EB dose, which caused minimum and maximum decline in total tocopherol content, was genotype-dependent. Decline in vitamin E activity corresponding to the dose, which induced maximum reduction for total lipoxygenase also varied in 3 genotypes. The study showed the usefulness of EB for significant inactivation of off-flavor generating lipoxygenases in soybean, with a non-significant effect on oil content and varied retention of tocopherol isomers and vitamin E activity depending upon genotype.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper deals with the study of wind–solar hybrid systems in the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to scarcity of less renewable energy resources in the J&K region, National Institute of Wind Energy, Chennai had installed different wind monitoring stations to measure the wind data at different locations. The survey reveals that four districts (LEH, KARGIL, POONCH and REASI) are suitable for small wind–solar hybrid systems. BIDDA (REASI) and CHUSHUL (LEH) are the two sites for small wind farm development due to the highest wind speed (more than 7?m/s) and power density (more than 400?W/m2) at 100?m agl.  相似文献

The issue of domestic waste is recognised as one of the most serious environmental problems facing the nation. With the UK producing 35 million tonnes of municipal solid waste per annum, an understanding of the ranges of toxicity of landfill emissions is crucial to determine the degree of concern we should have about the potential effects these waste sites could have upon nearby populations and the surrounding environment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bioreactivity of landfill leachates in terms of their capacity to damage ROS-sensitive bacteriophage plasmid DNA and induce toxicity in a commercial photobacterium toxicity assay, based on the light emission of Vibrio fischeri bacteria (ROTAS). The bacterial assay revealed widespread biostimulation and a hormesis response in the bacteria, with alpha-, beta- and gamma-response curves observed following exposure to the different landfill leachates. Different biological mechanisms lead to variations in bioreactivity, as seen in the plasmid DNA scission and ROTAS assays.  相似文献

New complex oxides having powellite (CaMoO4) type structure in the Ca–R–Nb–Mo–O system (R = Y, La, Nd, Sm or Bi) were prepared employing the method of solid state reaction between the component oxides at high temperature (1000–1100 °C). The new compounds, CaRNbMoO8 (R = Y, La, Nd, Sm, Bi) are colorless and electrical insulators. The dielectric constants (K at 1 MHz) of these compounds are in the range 14–33 and K shows very little variation in the temperature range 30–100 °C. Their temperature coefficient of dielectric constant (TCK) is negative, which varies from − 21 to − 220 ppm/°C.  相似文献

The objective of this work was to apply the response surface approach in the development of buccal bioadhesive tablets of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Experiments were performed according to a 3(2) factorial design to evaluate the effects of two polymers, Gantrez MS-955 (X(1)) and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC) K15M (X(2)) on the bioadhesive force, percentage drug release in 8 h (Rel(8 h)), time taken for 50% drug release (t(50%)), and diffusion coefficient (n). The effect of the two independent variables on the response variables was studied by response surface plots and contour plots generated by the Design Expert software. The compatibility between 5-FU and the tablet excipients was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) studies. Both the polymers were found to have synergistic effect on bioadhesion but the effect of Gantrez was more pronounced. A nonlinear twisted relationship was obtained for Rel(8 h) at the intermediate and high levels of the polymers, which indicated an interaction between them at the corresponding factor levels. Kinetic treatment to the dissolution profiles revealed that the drug release ranged from Fickian to anomalous transport, which was mainly dependent on both the independent variables. The desirability function was used to optimize the response variables, and the observed responses were in agreement with the experimental values.  相似文献

A strong diameter dependence is observed in the interfacial abruptness and growth rates in Si/Si 1- x Ge x axial heterostructure nanowires grown via Au-mediated low pressure CVD using silane and germane precursors. The growth of these nanowires has similarities to that of heterostructure thin films with similar compositional interfacial broadening, which increases with and is on the order with diameter. This broadening may reveal a fundamental challenge to fabrication of abrupt heterostructures via VLS growth.  相似文献
