In this work, the stereoselective release behaviors of “low”-swelling molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) bead matrices in pressed-coat tablet type were studied. Either R-propranolol selective MIP or S-propranolol selective MIP was combined with excipients and racemic propranolol and fabricated into the matrix. Subsequently, the release of different propranolol enantiomers from the matrices was examined. Also, the microscopic structure of the hydrated “low”-swelling MIP matrix was determined using a cryogenic scanning electron microscope in order to compare with that of the hydrated “high”-swelling MIP matrix. In vitro release profiles of the “low”-swelling matrices showed a difference in the release of enantiomers, in that the non-template isomer was released faster than the template isomer. However, in the last phase of dissolution this difference reduced and later reversed, resulting at last in the type of specificity being similar to that obtained previously with “high”-swelling MIP matrices.

An open, randomized, two-way crossover study was carried out in 28 healthy volunteers at Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar), as a joint venture with Saqr Hospital, Ras Al-Khaimah, UAE. The two commercial brands used were Sarf (Julphar, UAE) as test and Ciprobay (Bayer AG, Germany) as reference product. The drug was administered to each subject with 240 mL of water after an overnight fasting in two treatment days separated by a one-week washout period. After dosing, serial blood samples were collected for a period of 24 hr and serum was separated and analyzed for ciprofloxacin using a sensitive, reproducible, and accurate high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with ultraviolet (UV) detection. Various pharmacokinetic parameters, including AUC0-t, AUC0-infinity, Cmax, Tmax, t1/2, and lambdaz, were determined from ciprofloxacin serum concentration-time profiles for both formulations and found to be in good agreement with reported values. The parameters AUC0-t, AUC0-infinity, and Cmax were tested for bioequivalence after log-transformation of data. No significant difference was found based on analysis of variance (ANOVA); the 90% confidence intervals (95.73-107.62%, 94.98-108.26%, 92.80-103.90% for AUC0-t, AUC0-infinity, Cmax, respectively) for the test/reference ratios of these parameters were within the bioequivalence acceptance range of 80-125%. Spatial resolution in modern ultrasound imaging systems is limited by the high cost of large aperture transducer arrays, which require a large number of transducer elements and electronic channels. A new technique to enhance the spatial resolution of pulse-echo imaging systems is presented. The method attempts to build an image that could be obtained with a transducer array aperture larger than that physically available. We consider two images of the same object obtained with two different apertures, the full aperture and a subaperture, of the same transducer. A suitable artificial neural network (ANN) is trained to reproduce the relationship between the image obtained with the transducer full aperture and the image obtained with a subaperture. The inputs of the neural network are portions of the image obtained with the subaperture (low resolution image), and the target outputs are the corresponding portions of the image produced by the full aperture (high resolution image). After the network is trained, it can produce images with almost the same resolution of the full aperture transducer, but using a reduced number of real transducer elements. All computations are carried out on envelope-detected decimated images; for this reason, the computational cost is low and the method is suitable for real-time applications. The proposed method was applied to experimental data obtained with the ultrasound synthetic aperture focusing technique (SAFT), giving quite promising results. It has been shown in earlier works that the amplitude-frequency effect [also called isochronism defect (ID) or anisochronism] could be a limitation factor on ultrastable oscillators. Theoretical studies based on the nonlinear theory of piezoelectricity have already been developed to explain the amplitude-frequency effect. So, it is possible to estimate the dependence of the ID versus various parameters of the resonator design (overtone rank, radius of curvature, electrodes diameter, etc.). However, because of the lack of available fourth-order elastic coefficients, it is not possible to predict the ID of any resonant frequency of a given trapped energy resonator. To tentatively find orientations of plates exhibiting a quasi- ID, we have realized electroded resonators with different orientations and curvatures. We present results that verify, particularly, the R/sup -1/2/ dependence of the amplitude-frequency effect versus radius of curvature. Moreover, we show that the ID can be positive or negative, that it can vary from one orientation to other one of about one order of magnitude, and that there exists a thermal compensated mode for which the amplitude-frequency effect is . 相似文献

Using the planar waveguide concept in surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology is often advantageous when the modeling of transversely distributed phenomena is indispensable for an accurate design of SAW devices. This is especially true when complex multi-track structures such as transversely coupled resonator filters (TCRFs) are under consideration where, e.g., transverse velocity and stiffness profiles have to be incorporated in the device simulation. The interdigital transducers (IDTs) and the reflector gratings composing those devices behave as planar waveguides, supporting, in principle, all kinds of modes such as bound, semi-bound, and radiation modes. Therefore, to model these SAW propagation effects, we subdivide the SAW structures in transverse direction into several parallel waveguiding channels (N regions), and take, as the wave-describing quantity, a two-dimensional scalar potential function. By doing so, we obtain a complete set of orthonormal modes into which an arbitrary transverse excitation function can be expanded to study its propagation. The general mode spectrum includes a discrete spectrum of bound modes and continuous spectra of semi-bound and radiation modes. We calculate all types of modes by making use of the stack matrix technique. The present work, which arose from the requirement of creating an efficient mathematical tool for the simulation of TCRFs, provides the complete analysis of general SAW multi-channel structures. 相似文献

The influence of the source AM noise in microwave residual phase noise experiments is investigated. The noise floor degradation problem, caused by the parasitic detection of this type of noise by an imperfectly balanced mixer, is solved thanks to a refinement of the quadrature condition. Design optimization of beam-like ferroelectrics-silicon integrated microphone and microspeaker is studied. The Pt/Pb(Zr,Ti)O3/Pt/SiO2/Si3N4 cantilever structure is designed theoretically using multimorph model. The sensitivity and the sound pressure level (SPL) of the integrated microphone and microspeaker are calculated. It is found that the sensitivity of the microphone and the SPL of the microspeaker are very high. Flow phantoms used in medical ultrasound usually employ a plastic tube as a blood vessel mimic. These tubes often have acoustic properties differing significantly from the tissue and blood-mimicking media, which results in distortion of the acoustic pressure field within the tubes and, hence, of the Doppler flow spectra. Previous analyses of this problem have used some form of the infinite plate transmission coefficient, although at least one ray-based analysis has considered a cylindrical interface but with zero wall thickness. In this paper, we compare these approximate pressure fields with the exact solution for oblique incidence on a viscoelastic cylindrical shell at 5 MHz to find for which materials the plate approximation is valid. The shell has water both inside and outside, but it can be modified to use a different fluid inside and also to include absorption in either fluid. We find the plate approximation is reasonable for soft tubes such as the copolymer Cflex (Cole-Palmer, Niles, IL) but much less so for hard tubes such as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) 相似文献

The biocompatibility of titania/hydroxyapatite (TiO2HA) composite coatings, at different ratio obtained by sol–gel process, was investigated studying the behavior of primary cultures of rat osteoblastic cells, isolated by femoral trabecular bone tissue. Moreover, the results have been compared with the response of human osteoblast-like MG63 cell line. Cytotoxicity of coatings was assessed by lactate dehydrogenase activity (LDH). The cellular behavior was analyzed by the cell proliferation (MTT test), cell morphology (SEM) and the biochemical markers evaluation of osteoblastic phenotype, such as alkaline phosphatase activity (ALP) and osteocalcin production. The results showed that TiO2/HA coatings have no toxic effects and seemed to be a good support for cell adhesion and proliferation. Moreover, these materials allowed the differentiation of osteoblasts, stimulating the expression of alkaline phosphatase activity. The responses of the primary rat osteoblasts and human osteoblast-like MG63 cell line grown onto these coatings were similar in terms of proliferation and ALP activity. Differences were found considering the osteocalcin production. The results show that these coatings, thanks to their chemical composition and the deposition technique, are very promising for the potential orthopedic and dental applications. 相似文献

Fourier transform Raman (FT-Raman), attenuated total reflection/Fourier transform infrared (ATR/FT-IR) spectra and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements were performed on a biodegradable periodontal membrane, the Vicryl® periodontal mesh, in order to study its in vitro and in vivo degradation mechanism and kinetics. The hydrolitic in vitro degradation was investigated in two aqueous media: a saline phosphate buffer (SPB, pH=7.4) and a 0.01 M NaOH solution. Moreover, a membrane implanted in vivo for 4 weeks for treatment of contiguous vertical bony defects, was examined. Vibrational and thermal measurements show that the Vicryl® membrane presents a semicrystalline structure. It degrades faster in the NaOH solution than in the SPB and degradation occurs heterogeneously with a progressive increase in the percentage of crystallinity and shortening of the polymeric chains both in vitro and in vivo. The trends of % weight loss and IR I627/I1415 intensity ratio (identified as a marker of crystallinity) are discussed in comparison with the DSC results. The IR I627/I1415 intensity ratio and Xc% allow to determine the % weight loss undergone by the membrane degraded in vivo. The result obtained shows that the Vicryl® membrane degrades faster in vivo than in vitro with the formation of oligomers which are more easily absorbed by the surrounding tissues than they are soluble in the degradation media examined. 相似文献
