Built-up members with battens designed for typical 2–2.5% of axial load may not behave satisfactorily in the presence of lateral seismic loads. Analytical evaluation of double-channel battened cantilever members designed as per the current practice, and subjected to constant axial compressive load and gradually increasing lateral load showed that the members failed to reach their expected flexural capacity due to lateral instability. The design of members was modified by changing the configuration of battens in the expected plastic-hinge region, i.e., reducing the spacing of battens in end panel by half, and designing battens for a shear demand due to moment capacity of section. The members with battens designed for moment capacity could able to reach the expected flexural strength. Five half-scale test specimens of battened members designed as per the current practice and improved design method were subjected to axial load and gradually increasing cyclic load. The specimens designed as per improved design method showed excellent performance in terms of lateral strength, lateral stiffness, moment rotation characteristics and energy dissipation capacity.  相似文献

Ceramic samples of [Na0.5K0.5]1 ? x(Li)x(Sb)x(Nb)1 ? xO3 (NKNLS) (x = 0.04–0.06) were prepared by high temperature solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis of the powder samples suggests the formation of a single-phase material with transformation from orthorhombic to tetragonal crystal structure with increase in Sb content. Dielectric studies show a diffuse phase transition about 100 °C and another phase ferroelectric–paraelectric transition at 330 °C. Polarization vs. electric field (PE) hysteresis studies show maximum remanent polarization (Pr  0.66 C m?2) for composition x = 0.05. AC conductivity in the compound increases with increase in temperature which may be attributed due to oxygen vacancies and show negative temperature coefficient of resistance (NTCR) effect.  相似文献

A comparative performance analysis in terms of delay, power dissipation, power delay product (PDP), and crosstalk noise between SWCNT bundle interconnects with resistance estimated using conventionally (temperature independent model), and thermally aware model is investigated. The results are also compared with those of currently used copper interconnects at 22 nm technology node. It is observed that, with rise in temperature from 300 to 500 K, SWCNT bundles have a lower delay than that of copper interconnect at different lengths from 100 to \(1000\,\upmu \hbox {m}\) whereas reverse is true for power dissipation. The SPICE simulation results further reveal that for temperature variations ranging from 300 to 500 K, compared to conventional metal (copper) conductors, crosstalk noise voltage levels (positive peaks) in capacitively coupled SWCNT bundle, at the far end of victim line, are significantly low. Moreover, a relative average improvement in delay, power, and PDP using a thermally aware model in comparison with a temperature independent model is about 22.44, 7.59 and 31.96 %, respectively, with length variations from 100 to \(1000\,\upmu \hbox {m}\), whereas for varied tube diameter is about 16.6, 5.6 and 19.72 %, respectively. The average relative improvement in the time duration reduction of victim output, for varied tube diameters, is about 21.7 % by using a thermally-aware model instead of a temperature-independent model of an SWCNT bundle resistance.  相似文献

In this paper, grounded and floating decremental/incremental memristor emulators have been proposed by using an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA), current differencing buffered amplifier (CDBA), and a grounded capacitor. The proposed memristor emulators are simpler in design over most of the realizations of memristor emulators available in the literature. The proposed configurations of grounded and floating decremental memristor emulators can be easily converted into grounded and floating incremental memristor emulators. The pinched hysteresis loops obtained from proposed memristor emulators are maintained up to 1-MHz frequency in both decremental and incremental configurations. Simulation results have been obtained using a Mentor Graphics Eldo simulation tool in 0.18-μm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology parameters. Analog filters have also been designed to verify the performance of proposed grounded and floating memristor emulators.  相似文献

A high-order curvature-compensated subthreshold voltage reference is proposed in this paper. The proposed curvature-compensated voltage reference consists of two supply-independent first-order voltage references and a curvature compensation circuit. The supply-independent first-order voltage reference uses a negative feedback loop which improves the line sensitivity and eliminates the demand of operational amplifier, whereas the curvature compensation circuit provides high-order temperature-compensated output reference voltage. The proposed curvature-compensated voltage reference provides an output reference voltage of 118.54 mV with a temperature coefficient of 21.5 ppm/°C over a wide temperature range of −60°C to 120°C . The power supply rejection ratio and line sensitivity are observed as −68.64 dB (for the frequency range of 1 Hz to 100 Hz) and 0.035%/V (for the supply voltage varies from 0.85 V to 2.5 V), respectively. The values of output noise at the frequencies of 1 kHz and 10 kHz without using any capacitive filter are obtained as 179.13 nV/ √ Hz and 123.87 nV/ √ Hz , respectively.  相似文献

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), an extremely aggressive invasive cancer, is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related death in the United States. The higher mortality in PDAC is often attributed to the inability to detect it until it has reached advanced stages. The major challenge in tackling PDAC is due to its elusive pathology, minimal effectiveness, and resistance to existing therapeutics. The aggressiveness of PDAC is due to the capacity of tumor cells to alter their metabolism, utilize the diverse available fuel sources to adapt and grow in a hypoxic and harsh environment. Therapeutic resistance is due to the presence of thick stroma with poor angiogenesis, thus making drug delivery to tumor cells difficult. Investigating the metabolic mediators and enzymes involved in metabolic reprogramming may lead to the identification of novel therapeutic targets. The metabolic mediators of glucose, glutamine, lipids, nucleotides, amino acids and mitochondrial metabolism have emerged as novel therapeutic targets. Additionally, the role of autophagy, macropinocytosis, lysosomal transport, recycling, amino acid transport, lipid transport, and the role of reactive oxygen species has also been discussed. The role of various pro-inflammatory cytokines and immune cells in the pathogenesis of PDAC and the metabolites involved in the signaling pathways as therapeutic targets have been previously discussed. This review focuses on the therapeutic potential of metabolic mediators in PDAC along with stemness due to metabolic alterations and their therapeutic importance.  相似文献

Sorption of sulfur dioxide (SO2) was carried out on calcium‐based sorbents under dynamic conditions in a fixed bed. The experimental conditions were reaction temperature (700 to 1000°C), SO2 concentration (1000‐10 000 ppm), sorbent particles size (1 to 2 mm) and the types of sorbents (hydroxide or carbonate). The sorption process was found to be effective at low concentration levels (less than 10 000 ppm) as the breakthrough time significantly decreased with increase in concentration. The maximum removal of SO2 was observed at a reaction temperature of 950°C. The hydroxide‐based sorbents of relatively smaller particle size were found to exhibit superior sorption performance in terms of longer breakthrough time and higher sulfate conversion. A mathematical model developed, assuming a porous structure of the sorbent materials, attributed the low sulfation conversion during SO2 sorption due to a pore diffusion mechanism.  相似文献

In this study, MgO nanoparticles were successfully fabricated and incubated inside ZnO NPs to form MgO/ZnO nanocomposite for biomedical applications. The x-ray diffraction analysis of MgO, ZnO, and MgO/ZnO has shown the single-phase x-ray diffraction patterns through X'pert High score. The crystallite sizes were calculated as 18 nm, 42 nm, and 53 nm, respectively. The average particle size of MgO, ZnO, and MgO/ZnO nanopowders depicted from secondary electron images of field emission electron microscopy were 56 nm, 400 nm, and 450 nm, respectively. The presence of MgO NPs inside ZnO NPs was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy. The elemental dispersive spectroscopy of MgO, given the peaks of oxygen and magnesium, also showed only zinc and oxygen peaks in ZnO, which confirms no other impurities in MgO and ZnO powders. The elemental analysis of MgO/ZnO nanocomposite showed the peaks of Zinc and Oxygen, along with a tiny peak of Mg. The photoluminescence and UV–vis spectroscopy revealed the absorbance fluorescence limit of the nanomaterials. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the several groups present in the nanocomposite. The biocompatibility of MgO, ZnO, and MgO/ZnO was observed with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. The cytotoxicity studies were also performed against human cancer (liver and breast) cell lines. The MgO, ZnO, and MgO/ZnO exhibited the antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献

Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) hydrogels were simply prepared by free radical polymerization in different methanol–water mixture. A scanning electron microscopy study revealed that the freeze-dried hydrogels were macroporous. The swelling ratios in water at 20°C of the resulting hydrogels followed the order: X0.43>X0.21>X0.76 ≈ X0.57>X0.31>X0.13>X0.06>X0, where Xm denotes a gel prepared in a methanol–water mixture with m mole fraction of methanol (xm). Below the lower critical solution temperature, the swelling ratio values of all of the hydrogels gradually decreased with the increase in the temperature. The complete collapse of the PNIPAM chain of all the gels occurred at about 38°C, whereas the same was observed at about 35°C for the conventional gel prepared in water. The swelling ratio values of all the PNIPAM gels in the methanol–water mixtures with different xm values at 20°C passed through a minimum in the cononsolvency zone. The deswelling rates of the hydrogels decreased in the following order: X0.43> X0.31> X0.21> X0.57> X0.76 ≈ X0.13> X0.06> X0. The reswelling rates of these hydrogels decreased in the following order: X0> X0.31> X0.06 ≈ X0.13 > X0.76> X0.57> X0.21> X0.43. The release rates of the Tramadol Hydrochloride drug at 37°C from the drug-loaded hydrogels were almost same for all of the hydrogels. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012  相似文献
