Zinc oxide thin films grown by sol–gel and RF sputtering methods have been characterized. The characterization techniques used involve ellipsometry, optical absorption, scanning tunneling microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The films grown by sol–gel spin method which followed zinc acetate route exhibited a smoother texture than the films, which were deposited by using zinc nitrate route. The later type of films showed a dendritic character. Nano-structured fine grains of size ranging from 20 to 60 nm were observed with zinc nitrate precursor film. Individual grains show a sharp contrast with different facets and boundaries. Crystal planes and lattice parameters calculated by electron diffraction and X-ray diffraction are quite close and in agreement with the reported values in literature. Scanning tunneling microscopy has been used for measuring the average roughness of the surface and estimating the lattice constants. The STM studies of RF sputtered films, although showing a ZnO structure, exhibited a disturbed lattice. This was presumably due to the fact that after deposition the films were not annealed. Nanographs of 2D and 3D view of atomic positions of ZnO have been presented by using scanning tunneling microscopy.  相似文献

Impurities in industrial synthetic diamond powder samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS). Specimen for FAAS is required in solution form. Diamonds are chemically inert to most acids and alkalies. Carbon was removed as CO2 on heating and estimated gravimetrically. The remaining residue was fused with di-lithium tetraborate and dissolved in nitric acid. Impurities such as Si, Al, Fe, Ca, Mg, W, Na, Co and Ni were then determined by FAAS. Crystalline phases of major impurities were identified by XRD.  相似文献

The molecular mobility of amorphous solid biomaterials influences the stability of dried foods and pharmaceuticals, the viability of seeds and spores, and the desiccation-tolerance of organisms during anhydrobiosis. Current understanding of how structure correlates with molecular mobility in the glassy state is inadequate. We used phosphorescence from vanillin dispersed in amorphous films to study the effect of temperature on molecular mobility in the homologous series of oligosaccharides glucose, maltose, maltotriose, maltotetraose, maltopentaose, maltohexaose, and maltoheptaose. Phosphorescence emission spectra and intensity decays were collected from −10 to as high as 130 °C. Emission peak energy, a measure of the extent of dipolar relaxation around the excited state prior to emission, decreased monotonically with temperature, decreasing more significantly in the glassy state in larger sugars (higher degree of polymerisation). The intensity decays were well fitted with sums of either four (glucose, maltose, maltotriose) or three exponentials (maltotetraose, maltopentaose, maltohexaose, maltoheptaose); fit lifetimes at each temperature varied over nearly two orders of magnitude, suggesting a comparable range in matrix dynamic heterogeneity. The lifetimes decreased monotonically with temperature, while the lifetime amplitudes favoured the long lifetime components at lower and short lifetime components at higher temperatures near Tg. Arrhenius analysis indicated that the rate of non-radiative decay, which reflects coupling of probe vibrations with matrix motions and thus provides an estimate of the matrix molecular mobility, increased with molecular size in the glassy state. Both apparent activation energy and activation entropy increased systematically with temperature in all sugars. These data provide additional evidence that the rate and extent of molecular mobility in glassy state carbohydrates is higher in sugars of greater molecular size (mass) and thus higher glass transition temperature and provides additional insight into the molecular dynamics of the glassy state in carbohydrates.  相似文献

This study discusses about the effect of polysaccharides (agar, gum tragacanth, and guar gum) on the properties of the core (organogel)–shell [poly(vinyl alcohol)] microparticles. The size, swelling, and mucoadhesive properties of the poly(vinyl alcohol) microparticles were altered in the presence of the polysaccharides. Thermal analysis confirmed the presence of organogels within the microparticles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the presence of the polysaccharides within the microparticles. The microparticles were biocompatible in nature. Drug release indicated that an alteration in the shell composition can be used for altering drug release. Ciprofloxacin-loaded microparticles showed sufficient antimicrobial efficiency.  相似文献

The present paper proposes a novel concept which can successfully reduce threshold voltage and increase switching speed of a conventional MOSFET. The proposed structures have been incorporated with a silicon germanium (SiGe) layer as a channel at the 22 nm technology node. Also, extensive analyses have been done to study the effects of replacing conventional polysilicon by graded dopent profile polysilicon, use of a high-k/silicon dioxide stack as a dielectric with graded dopent profile polysilicon and by using a high-k/silicon dioxide stack as a dielectric with a metal gate. Hafnium dioxide is used as a high-k material. Silvaco Athena and Atlas simulators are used for simulation as well as for finding electrical characteristics of the structures. For all the proposed structures two important parameters are studied in detail, threshold voltage and subthreshold slope. Comparing the three structures, it can be seen that using the high-k/silicon dioxide stack as a dielectric with a metal gate yields the best threshold voltage as well as good subthreshold slope which is directly related to the switching behaviour of the device. The required fabrication aspects of the modelled structures are also elaborated in detail.  相似文献

Qualitative and quantitative PCR assays were developed for detection of commercialised Bt cotton events, i.e. MON531, MON15985 and other Bt crops, which are under different stages of field trials in India, i.e. Bt brinjal, Bt rice, Bt cauliflower, Bt potato and Bt okra. Multiplex PCR assays simultaneously detecting specific cry1Ac, cry1Ab, cry2Ab genes, Cauliflower Mosaic Virus 35S promoter, nptII marker gene along with species- or taxon-specific endogenous gene in these Bt crops have been developed. The quantitative real-time PCR assays were also reported for cry1Ac gene using designed primers and TaqMan probe. The sensitivity of developed assays for detection of specific transgene was established up to 0.01%. The analytical methods developed in the present report will be of immense use for qualitative screening and detection of Bt crops along with the quantitative analysis of inserted cry1Ac gene to meet the threshold level for regulatory compliance.  相似文献

The understanding of the flow characteristics and effect of gas-solid interactions in pneumatic risers is fundamental to investigate to ensure effective design cost-effective operation. Thus, to understand the effect of gas-solid interactions on the hydrodynamics of newly proposed conversing risers, this study mainly focused on predicting pressure drop in the dilute phase pneumatic conveying system. The experiments were conducted in a converging riser having a convergence angle of 0.2693°. Various solid particles such as sago, black mustard, and alumina have been considered to study the effect of particle sizes and density on the pressure drop. The experimental outcomes indicate that the total pressure drop increases with an increase in the solid density and gas mass flow rate. Moreover, smaller particle sizes are also increased the pressure drop. An empirical correlation is developed for the prediction of total pressure drop ΔPT in converging pneumatic riser via dimensional analysis. All dependent variables such as particle and air density, drag force, acceleration due to gravity, the mass flow rate of air and particle, the diameter of particle and converging riser, the height of converging riser were considered to develop the empirical correlation. The established relationship is tested, and experimental data have been fitted for its validation. The estimated relative error of less than 0.05 proved the significance of the developed correlation. Hence, it can be stated that the established relationship is useful in studying the effects of various parameters on the pressure drop across the length of the conversing riser.  相似文献
