A comprehensive mathematical model for a continuous transesterification process has been built so as to enable prediction of the influence of different process and operational variables on productivity and by-product formation. The influence of temperatures and temperature profiles, of residence time and residence time distribution, and also of the number of reactors in series has been investigated. The modeling has been done as close to the industrial practice as possible. Important pragmatic implications from the point of view of operation of continuous transesterification are highlighted.  相似文献

Certain surfactant-stabilized aqueous foams provide a potentially efficient and simple chemical route for the synthesis of various nanomaterials with controllable structure, size, and shape. In the present work, a one-step process for the synthesis of CdS and Cd1-xMn(x)S (0 < x < 10) nanocrystals has been described. Aqueous CdCl2 and the aerosol-OT solutions are homogeneously mixed together and thereafter, nitrogen is bubbled through this solution to produce stable aqueous foam. After drainage of the foam, the freestanding dry foam consisting of cadmium cations electrostatically complexed with the anionic aerosol-OT molecules at the liquid-gas interface is treated with H2S vapor. The foam turns yellowish-orange and collapses, in the process yielding CdS nanoclusters of variable morphology. This morphology variation is appropriately attributed to growth of the CdS as well as alloyed Cd1-xMn(x)S nanoparticles in different regions of the foam contributing to the varying topological structure. Optical absorption spectra of both CdS and Cd1-xMn(x)S nanoparticles clearly show a well-defined exciton absorption feature around 450 nm due to quantum confinement effects. The interesting band edge emission characteristics of these AOT-capped CdS and Cd1-xMn(x)S nanoparticles produced in the foam are discussed with respect to their size and shape. Particular interest in the present novel aqueous foam approach arises due to the fact that the cubic zincblende CdS and alloyed Cd1-xMn(x)S nanocrystals could easily be obtained even under ambient experimental conditions itself.  相似文献

An exact procedure for calculating the weight-average and number-average molecular weights of epoxy resins made by the advancement process is presented. The calculation can take into account the presence of high molecular weight diepoxides and monofunctional epoxides in diglycidyl ether of disphenol A and indicates that the presence of the latter has a very significant effect. A model for the taffy process based on the overall reactions of the process was developed. Analytical solutions could be obtained if the dehydrohalogenation reactions were assumed to be fast. The predictions of the model are in good agreement with the observed values reported earlier.  相似文献

A magnanimous number of collaborative sensor nodes make up a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). These sensor nodes are outfitted with low-cost and low-power sensors. The routing protocols are responsible for ensuring communications while considering the energy constraints of the system. Achieving a higher network lifetime is the need of the hour in WSNs. Currently, many network layer protocols are considering a heterogeneous WSN, wherein a certain number of the sensors are rendered higher energy as compared to the rest of the nodes. In this paper, we have critically analysed the various stationary heterogeneous clustering algorithms and assessed their lifetime and throughput performance in mobile node settings also. Although many newer variants of Distributed Energy-Efficiency Clustering (DEEC) scheme execute proficiently in terms of energy efficiency, they suffer from high system complexity due to computation and selection of large number of Cluster Heads (CHs). A protocol in form of Cluster-head Restricted Energy Efficient Protocol (CREEP) has been proposed to overcome this limitation and to further improve the network lifetime by modifying the CH selection thresholds in a two-level heterogeneous WSN. Simulation results establish that proposed solution ameliorates in terms of network lifetime as compared to others in stationary as well as mobile WSN scenarios.  相似文献

A gel was formed when a aqueous solution of BaCl2, NbF5 and citric acid in stoichiometric ratio is heated on a water bath. This gel on decomposition at 600°C yielded the nano crystallites of BaNb2O6, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction study (XRD). This is a much lower temperature as compared to that prepared by traditional solid state method (1000°C) as reported for the formation of BaNb2O6. Transmission electron microscopic (TEM) investigations revealed that the average particle size is 50 nm for the calcined powders. The room temperature dielectric constant at 1 kHz is found to be 1000. The ferroelectric hysteresis loop parameters of these samples were also studied.  相似文献

We have followed the dynamic redox process taking place in individual ceria zirconia nanoparticles with changes in the oxygen chemical potential using an in situ environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM). We observe considerable variability in the redox activity and have been able to correlate these differences with nanoscale structural and compositional measurements. We find that the more active structure has predominantly disordered cations and shows no evidence for oxygen vacancy ordering during reduction.  相似文献

In the present study, an attempt is made to optimize the electrical performance of the thin polymeric films through optimization techniques. The study is conducted in two phases: (1) laboratory experiments and (2) through numerical optimization. For laboratory analysis, thin and transparent films are prepared using polyethersulfone (PES) as host material and meta-nitroaniline (MNA) as guest materials. A set of nine film samples are prepared by the solution casting method in the laboratory using different concentrations of MNA. The electrical properties capacitance, conductance, and dissipation factor of films are measured by Aligent Impedance Analyzer. These characteristics are then optimized mathematically. For this purpose, initially single-objectives are considered for optimizing the electrical properties individually, and later a multiobjective model is considered for analyzing the properties simultaneously. The algorithms employed are metaheuristics: genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, differential evolution, and its variant modified differential evolution along with fmincon (a MATLAB toolbox) for single-objective optimization and multiobjective differential evolution algorithm and nondominated sorting genetic algorithm-II for multiobjective optimization.  相似文献

The indigenous design, fabrication and performance evaluation of a polychromator, using inductively coupled plasma (ICP) as a source of excitation, are described. A concave holographic grating is used as the dispersing element and a Paschen — Runge mount is chosen to focus the spectra over a wide range along the Rowland circle. Twenty-two exit slits, mounted along the circle, precisely correspond to the wavelengths used for determination of up to twenty elements present in the plasma. Radiations emerging from the exit slits are detected by photomultiplier tubes placed behind them. The photomultiplier signal is recorded by an electronic system consisting of an integrator and a PC-based data acquisition system. The performance of the spectrometer has been evaluated with an ICP excitation source. Synthetic standards in deionized water containing a mixture of twenty impurities have been analysed. Typical determination limits observed for elements range from sub-ppm to ppm levels. All the elements present as impurities can be detected simultaneously. It is also observed that each element has a different emitting region in the ICP flame for which the maximum signal to the background is obtained. The determination limits obtained corresponding to these zones are the lowest. A study of the sensitive emitting zones for several elements has been carried out and the results are demonstrated by photographs of the ICP flame. The study will help in achieving the minimum value of determination limit for an impurity element.  相似文献

We report the fabrication of Al-matrix composites reinforced with amino-functionalized carbon nanotubes (fCNTs) using powder metallurgy process. Functionalization of the nanotubes was carried out by ball milling multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in the presence of ammonium bicarbonate. It has been found that the mechanical properties of Al-fCNT composites were much superior to the composites fabricated using non-functionalized or acid functionalized carbon nanotubes. The enhancement in mechanical properties in these composites are attributed mainly to the better and homogeneous dispersion of fCNT in Al matrix as compared to non-functionalized or acid functionalized carbon nanotubes and the formation of a strong interfacial bonding between fCNT and Al matrix leading to an efficient load transfer from Al matrix to fCNT following high-resolution transmission electron microscopy.  相似文献
