Separator materials suitable for use in industrial alkaline water electrolysers are surveyed, including both inorganic and organic materials. The properties which make asbestos diaphragms unsuitable for use above 100°C are also reviewed.In summary, potassium titanate and polyantimonic acid separator materials perform well in high-temperature alkali. Oxide-coated metallic diaphragms merit further attention. Polysulfone and polyphenylene sulfide polymers are promising, but will need definite improvement in their wettability. Asbestos stabilization by silicate electrolyte additions may be viable.  相似文献

We present a novel, inexpensive, and fast microimpedance tomography system for two-dimensional imaging of cell and tissue cultures. The system is based on four-electrode measurements using 16 planar microelectrodes (5 microm x 4 mm) integrated into a culture chamber. An Agilent 4294A impedance analyzer combined with a front-end amplifier is used for the impedance measurements. Two-dimensional images are obtained using a reconstruction algorithm. This system is capable of accurately resolving the shape and position of a human hair, yielding vertical cross sections of the object. Human epithelial stem cells (YF 29) are also grown directly on the device surface. Tissue growth can be followed over several days. A rapid resistivity decrease caused by permeabilized cell membranes is also monitored, suggesting that this technique can be used in electroporation studies.  相似文献

The objective of this prospective single cohort study was to determine the effect of health status at arrival on growth in milk-fed veal calves. Upon arrival at the veal facility, calves were evaluated using a standardized health scoring system and weighed, and the supplier of the calf was recorded. The calves were followed until slaughter, when the hot carcass weight (HCW) was reported. To calculate average daily gain (ADG), the HCW was transformed into an estimated live weight, weight at arrival was subtracted, and this value was divided by the number of days on feed. A mixed linear regression model was created to evaluate the association of health status on arrival with the ADG throughout the production period. A total of 4,825 calves were evaluated at arrival; however, due to inconsistent HCW data from one slaughter plant, and 357 calves dying during the production period, 2,283 calves were used for analysis. In the final model, 7 variables were significantly associated with ADG. Housing location within the farm, method of calf procurement (drover or auction-derived calves versus direct delivery from local farms) and having a higher body weight at arrival were associated with a higher ADG. The season of arrival (summer or fall compared with winter) and being dehydrated at arrival were associated with a lower ADG. Days on feed was also significant in the multivariable model and had a quadratic relationship with ADG. The associations identified suggest that there may be value in scoring dehydration and body weight at arrival to a veal facility.  相似文献

Diffraction by the subreflector of a revolution dual reflector antenna is studied as contribution to the side-lobe radiation of the antenna; a better knowledge of this sidelobe radiation is necessary in order to satisfy more and more difficult specifications. Calculation of the subreflector diffracted field is made with geometrical theory of diffraction and more precisely with the uniform asymptotic theory. The antenna is made of two revolution surfaces generated by two meridian curves which are not necessarily the set hyperbola-parabola of the classical Cassegrainian antenna. Computation results are compared to measurements made on the subreflector of an existing antenna. The agreement is satisfying particularly in the angular zone corresponding to the primary feed spill-over.  相似文献

A numerical model is developed to study mixed convection film boiling over a vertical flat plate. The integral form of conservation equations for each phase along with the appropriate interface conditions due to phase change is transformed into ordinary differential equation (ODE)-form. The length scale used in the model is based on Rayleigh–Taylor instability wave at the liquid–vapor interface. The heat transfer associated in the process is assessed and results are validated successfully for different available experimental results for natural convection and mixed convection film boiling. The mixed convection film boiling is characterized in terms of relevant nondimensional parameters for each phase.  相似文献

A large number of researchers have paid great attention to solar chimney (SC) power generating technology, but only a few have studied the chimney configuration. Taking a 10 MW SC system as an example, the physical and mathematical models illustrating the fluid flow, heat transfer and output power features of the system are established. Based on constraints such as equal chimney bottom section area or equal chimney surface area, the impact of several sizes of three different chimney configurations upon the chimney outlet air temperature and velocity, system output power and efficiency is analyzed and the influence of the height‐to‐diameter ratio (H/D) of the cylindrical chimney on system performance is studied as well. After a comprehensive analysis of system output power and efficiency, it is proved by the numerical simulation that the cylindrical chimney would be the best choice among the three basic configurations, whose optimum H/D value ranges from 6 to 8. A collection of sets on a ground set U n (U n ?=?{1,2,...,n}) closed under intersection and containing U n is known as a Moore family. The set of Moore families for a fixed n is in bijection with the set of Moore co-families (union-closed families containing the empty set) denoted ${\mathbb{M}}_n$ . This paper follows the work initiated in Colomb et al. (Ann Math Artif Intell 67(2):109–122, 2013) in which we have given an inductive definition of the lattice of Moore co-families. In the present paper we use this definition to define a recursive decomposition tree of any Moore co-family and we design an original algorithm to compute the closure under union of any family. Then we compare performance of this algorithm to performance of Ganter’s algorithm and Norris’ algorithm.  相似文献
