The present paper proposes the impact of the air temperature on electricity demand as expected. It is clear that the annual maximum load is recorded versus the years starting by the year 2009 up to 2012. At present, the graph fitting technique is applied with some mathematical and computational tools based on the actual values of the years 2009 up to 2012 considering the lower values, the higher values and the average values of the annual maximum loads for Kingdom of Bahrain. For the three scenarios, the models are obtained by curve fitting technique. As well, the model of actual loads is obtained finally which has mostly the closest values obtained.  相似文献

This paper deals with the effects that a thin gas layer exerts on the hydrodynamic aspects of power law liquid in a radial Couette flow between two cylinders. Analytical solution is made to determine the velocity profile in the two-phase flow system occupied by the power law liquid and the micro layer of a gas. It is shown that the thin (micro) gas layer contributes in reducing torque to set the fluid in motion in most cases. However, by considering generalized power law liquids, this paper limits the credibility for the positive role of the gas layer on reducing the torque for lubrication. For instance, when n < 0.5 (n is the behavior index of the liquid), slight increment in the torque (about 6%) is reported. Finally, energy gradient method is used for stability analysis. It is shown that the stability nature may be changed based on behavior index of the liquid.  相似文献

Pre-mRNA processing factor 4B (PRP4) has previously been shown to induce epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and drug resistance in cancer cell lines. As melanin plays an important photoprotective role in the risk of sun-induced skin cancers, we have investigated whether PRP4 can induce drug resistance and regulate melanin biosynthesis in a murine melanoma (B16F10) cell line. Cells were incubated with a crucial melanogenesis stimulator, alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, followed by transfection with PRP4. This resulted in the inhibition of the production of melanin via the downregulation of adenylyl cyclase-cyclic adenosine 3′,5′-monophosphate (AC)–(cAMP)–tyrosinase synthesis signaling pathway. Inhibition of melanin production by PRP4 leads to the promotion of carcinogenesis and induced drug resistance in B16F10 cells. Additionally, PRP4 overexpression upregulated the expression of β-arrestin 1 and desensitized the extracellular calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR), which in turn, inhibited the influx of extracellular Ca2+ ions. The decreased influx of Ca2+ was confirmed by a decreased expression level of calmodulin. We have demonstrated that transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C member 1 was involved in the influx of CaSR-induced Ca2+ via a decreasing level of its expression. Furthermore, PRP4 overexpression downregulated the expression of AC, decreased the synthesis of cAMP, and modulated the actin cytoskeleton by inhibiting the expression of Ras homolog family member A (RhoA). Our investigation suggests that PRP4 inhibits the production of melanin in B16F10 cells, blocks the influx of Ca2+ through desensitization of CaSR, and modulates the actin cytoskeleton through downregulating the AC–cAMP pathway; taken together, these observations collectively lead to the promotion of skin carcinogenesis.  相似文献

The formation of mineral scale particularly calcium carbonate is a problem for industries ranging from oil and gas to desalination plants. Various techniques have been studied to prevent the formation of scale. The use of chemical inhibitors to prevent calcium carbonate agglomeration is widely studied. The present study attempts to show that the inline monitoring technique is a useful tool for laboratory experimental investigation of agglomeration phenomenon. This method is successful in providing the induction time of starting agglomeration. It was shown that the presence of inhibitor delays the agglomeration and affects the deposition of calcium carbonate.In addition the method is found useful in determining the minimum inhibitor concentration and also to screen various types of inhibitors for the selection. The influence of an inhibitor is studied on scaling solution of various calcium ion concentrations. Finally, the result of inline technique was validated by comparing with the conventional one called offline technique. The SEM images reveal that the mechanism of inhibition might be the surface adsorption or distortion of inhibitor molecules on the growing calcium carbonate crystals.  相似文献

Tartrazine dye Na3TZ in foodstuff products was determined by a new modified carbon paste electrode, encoded sensor A, and a coated silver wire electrode, encoded sensor B, based on tartrazine TZ- cetryltrimethyl ammoniumbromide CTAB as a chemical modifier TZ-CTA. The electrodes exhibit the following characteristics listed respectively: a Nernstian slope of 17.9 ± 0.5 and 19.4 ± 0.2 mV/decade for tartrazine ion over a wide concentration range from 4.3 × 10−7 to 1.0 × 10−2 and 1.1 × 10−7 to 1.0 × 10−2 M. The lower detection limits: 3.2 × 10−7 and 5.5 × 10−8 M. Short response time (5–8 s) over the pH range 3.8–7.7 and 4.2–8.1. The proposed sensors display significantly high selectivity for TZ ion over a wide variety of sugars, some anions, common organic, inorganic compounds and additives. The developed electrodes were applied to the potentiometric determination of tartrazine ion in different kinds of foodstuffs: solid jelly (strawberry and custard) powder samples and soft drink (orange) samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Poly(acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene) (ABS) is a two-phase material consisting of elastomer particles in a glassy polymer matric of styrene and acrylonitrile (SAN) [1]. The photooxidation of ABS was the subject of several studies [2, 3]. It was suggested that several processes will take place during photooxidation. These changes include the formation of hydroperoxide [4], chain breakage of the polystyrene, and the oxidation of the polymer as it was monitored by IR spectroscopy [4–6]. Also photooxidation affect the polybutadiene in ABS and oxidizes it, which results in the formation of hydroperoxide. There are no data available on the thermal degradation of ABS. In a previous study the thermal aging of recycled high-impact polystyrene was studied using UV-vis spectroscopy [7]. It was found that this method provided very useful information about the degradation of several industrial polymers [8–12]. In this paper thermal degradation of ABS is investigated by UV-vis and IR spectroscopy.  相似文献

In this paper, numerical study of heat transfer in a conical annular cylinder fixed with saturated porous medium is presented. The heat transfer is assumed to take place by natural convection and radiation. The inner surface of conical cylinder is maintained at uniform wall temperature. The governing partial differential equations are non-dimensionalised using suitable non-dimensional parameters and then solved by using finite element method. The porous medium is divided using triangular elements with uneven element size. A computer software is used to solve the coupled momentum and energy equations in an iterative manner. The results are discussed for various values of geometric and physical parameters of porous medium with emphasis on cone angle of the cylinder. It is seen that the cone angle plays a vital role in heat transfer from the hot surface to porous medium.  相似文献

The family Cactaceae is the diversified group of angiosperm plants whose pollen statistics has been used for taxonomic identification. In this article, we present the pollen morphology of eight species belong to seven taxonomically complex genera of Cactaceae including Astrophytum, Cylindropuntia, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Mammillaria, Opuntia, and Thelocactus using light and scanning electron microscopy. The pollen grains were acetolyzed, measured, described, and electron photomicrographs were taken. Cactaceae can be characterized by presenting different palynomorphological features including pollen type, sculpturing, polar and equatorial diameter, aperture orientation, exine thickness, P/E ratio, and echini features. Four types of pollen shapes, that is, prolate spheroidal (three species), subprolate (two species), prolate (two species), and oblate spheroidal in Echinocereus reichenbachii were observed. The polar and equatorial diameter observed maximum in O. ficus indica 116.95 and 112.27 μm while minimum in M. compressa 38.42 and 21.05 μm. Pollen of two types, tricolpate in members of subfamily Cactioideae and pantoporate in the Opuntioideae were examined. The fertility percentage has been observed maximum in Opuntia macrocentra (83.84%) and minimum in Opuntia ficus‐indica (57.89%). Exine sculpturing showing great variations such as granulate, reticulate, granulate perforate and micro‐echinate foveolate ornamentation was examined only in Echinopsis eyriesii. A key to species, based on pollen micromorphological attributes, has been constructed for correct identification of complex cactus species.  相似文献

Newly designed series of indole-containing pyrazole analogs, pyrazolinylindoles, were synthesized, and their structures were confirmed based on the spectral data of the 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HR-MS analyses. Preliminary anti-cancer activity testings were carried out by the National Cancer Institute, United States of America (NCI, USA). Compounds HD02, HD05, and HD12 demonstrated remarkable cytotoxic activities against nine categories of cancer types based cell line panels which included leukemia, colon, breast, melanoma, lungs, renal, prostate, CNS, and ovarian cancer cell lines. The highest cytotoxic effects were exhibited by the compounds HD02 [1-(5-(1-H-indol-3-yl)-3-(p-tolyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-2-phenylethanone], HD05 [1-(3-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(1H-indol-3-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-2-phenoxyethanone], and HD12 [(3-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(1H-indol-3-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)(pyridin-4-yl)methanone] against some of the 56 types of NCI-based cell lines in different panels. Compound HD05 showed the maximum range of cancer cell growth inhibitions against all categories of the cell lines in all nine panels. On average, in comparison to the referral standard, imatinib, at a dose level of 10 µM, the HD05 showed significant activity against leukemia in the range of 78.76%, as compared to the imatinib at 9% of cancer cells’ growth inhibitions. Molecular docking simulation studies were performed in silico on the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase, in order to validate the activity.  相似文献

Modern therapy of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) began in 1973 with the first report of the successful combination of daunorubicin and cytarabine, which led to complete remission in approximately 45% of patients. Accurate AML diagnosis was dependent on morphology, aided initially only by cytochemistry. Unlike acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), immunophenotyping offered little in the diagnosis of AML, at least during the 1970s and 1980s. The advent of reliable cytogenetics changed the entire prognostic outlook of AML. With karyotypic analysis, different groups of AML could be classified and stratified for various therapies. Unique mutational profiling was a major advance in further categorizing AML patients, aided by the immunophenotypic identification of antigenic markers on the cells. All these advances were occurring as the understanding of the importance of the tumor burden—known as minimal residual disease (MRD)—became crucial for the management of AML patients. The efficacy of MRD has rapidly progressed in the past decade, from a specificity of 10−3 with immunophenotyping to 10−4 with polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is only appropriate for some patients with AML, and finally to 10−5 or even 10−6 cells with the extraordinary sensitivity of next-generation sequencing (NGS). All of these advances have promoted the concept of personalized medicine, which has led to the advent of targeted agents that can accurately be used for specific diagnostic subtypes. Responses can be predicted and measured accurately. Such targeted agents have now become a cornerstone in the management of AML, increasing efficacy and dramatically reducing toxicity. The focus of this review is on one of the most well-studied targeted agents in AML: the FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) inhibitors, which have impacted the prognostication and therapeutics of AML. This review selectively discusses the FLT3 inhibitors in detail, as a model for the other burgeoning targeted agents that have already been approved, as well as those that are currently in development.  相似文献
