Abstract. We consider the money distribution problem for a micro-payment scheme using a distributed server system; in particular, for
an automatic charging scheme named PayPerClick that allows Internet users to view Web pages for which access charges are levied without tedious payment procedures. A major
bottleneck in the scheme is the network traffic caused by the distribution of electronic money to many different servers.
We propose a simple online algorithm for distributing electronic money to servers so that the network traffic is minimized.
The algorithm achieves the optimal online competitive ratio. We also consider a weighted version, for which we give an asymptotically optimal online algorithm within a constant factor. 相似文献

In order to define the optical parameters of a slowly extracted beam at the entrance of the extraction channel and to realize optical matching with the beam line, the outgoing separatrix was measured at HIMAC. Modifying the lattice parameters of the ring model according to the measurement result, the simulation result makes it possible to predict the optical parameters at the extraction channel. As a result, it was experimentally verified that optical matching of the slowly extracted beam with the transport line was realized. The measured beam size and dispersion functions were in good agreement with the calculation result at each monitor in the transport line. Particle tracking also predicts the beam profile at each profile monitor in the beam line. Further, a quasi-parallel beam was demonstrated by changing the beam optics in the beam line. 相似文献

The extinction of the partial discharge (PD) pulse has frequently been observed in an epoxy specimen with a closed void during voltage endurance tests using a CIGRE Method-II electrode. The individual discharge pulse becomes so small that the discharges cannot be detected by conventional pulse detection methods. Such discharges are known as “swarming pulsive microdischarges” (SPMD). In this paper, the SPMD characteristics are investigated by varying the frequency of the applied voltage from 0.1 to 240 Hz. As a result, the SPMD are found to occur less frequently as the frequency is lowered. To seek this cause, one-shot voltages were applied repeatedly at constant intervals. By varying the interval from 0.02 to 100 s, the PD off an electrically aged specimen was measured. It was revealed that the discharge magnitude increases as the interval becomes longer. The onset of SPMD was found to depend on the preceding discharge. The results explain the reason why swarming is harder to occur at lower frequency with a longer discharge interval. Hence, in the conventional pulse detection, it is useful to employ the very low frequency for diagnosis of machine insulation containing enclosed voids. 相似文献

The superconducting to normal transition by a rectangular pulse current in type-II Ta has been investigated. The potential drop along the specimen is observed as a function of time. The voltage pattern and the magnitude of the potential drop are obtained as functions of current amplitude, temperature, externally applied magnetic field, the angle between magnetic field and specimen axis, and values. The transition mechanisms are discussed. It is also shown in this experiment that the flux flow or flux creep and flux jump occur. We report an experimental result that shows the excitation of surface plasmon polaritons by use of a zeroth-order Bessel beam. From the viewpoint of energy efficiency, the zeroth order Bessel beam is ideal for the local excitation of surface plasmon polaritons on a metal film. Nonthermal plasma technologies offer an innovative approach to the problem of decomposing various volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The authors focused on DC capillary tube discharge plasma reactors to study the decomposition/destruction efficiency for toluene, EGM, trichloroethane and trichloroethylene at 50-2300 ppm levels in dry air. The effects of gas flow rate, VOC concentration and reactor operating conditions on decomposition and analysis of reactant conversion for each VOC were investigated. The results show that VOC destruction efficiency as high as 90% can be achieved, even under a short residence time (3.8 ms) with a destruction energy efficiency of up to 95 g (VOC)/kWh. In the combined‐cycle power plant generators are started by using the igniting arrangement up to the ignition rotational speed of the gas turbine. On the other hand, in the case of using the superconducting generator, it is difficult to apply the igniting arrangement used to generate electricity on the combined cycle for the structure as is. We examined the induction motor starting method for the superconducting generator by using the 70‐MW‐class quick‐response excitation superconducting model generator and the VVVF power supply. From the examination, we confirmed the ability to raise the rotational speed from 6 to 360 rpm. A method for calculating the single‐step response of five‐phase hybrid stepping motors is obtained. The effects of winding connecting methods—(1) star‐bipolar SB, (2) pentagon PD, and (3) new pentagon NP—on the single‐step response are investigated. By application of the above calculation method, the continuous rotating characteristics are studied. It is found that the maximum slewing pulse rate of NP is higher than that of SB and PD connections, and that the variation of the rotor speed at high speed with the SB and PD connections is larger than that with the NP connection. In 1998, Toyo Gosei Co. published a paper on the development of a new water‐soluble photopolymer of high sensitivity, PVA‐ARBB. In close co‐operation with LG. Philips Displays, the new material was further developed to be applicable in patterning the phosphor layer of a CRT screen. The new material shows about 3 times higher light sensitivity, gives 4–5% higher luminance, has no dark reaction, and is chromium‐free. It is the first chromium‐free photoresist used for phosphor patterning in CRT mass production. A comparison is presented between the conventional resist and the new resist. A survey is given of the most important process conditions. 相似文献
