Coal-rank measurements and heat-flow data from three rhomb-shaped grabens along the continental portion of the Dead Sea Transform—the Hula Depression, the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea Graben—reveal contrasting thermal regimes. The coalification profile the Hula Depression indicates a relatively high thermal gradient, averaging 40C/km, throughout the Late Cenozoic. Similarly, a relatively high heat flow, approx 1.77 HFU, was reported in the Sea of Galilee, 35 km to the south. Coalfieation profile, heat flow data and BHT measurements on the Dead Sea Graben (200 km to the south) reveal a considerably lower thermal regime (approx 0.7 HFU, 2OC/km) that has prevailed since the mid-Miocene.
However, the differences in the thermal regime do not represent different mechanisms of basin formation. With the corroboration of hydrological and geophysical data, it is suggested that the high thermal regime in the two northern basins reflects a regional phenomenon associated with the nearby extensive Golan-Jeble Druze young volcanic terrain. Therefore, it has no relationship to the mechanism of rhomb-shaped graben formation, and should not be cited in support of kinematic models requiring a high thermal regime.  相似文献

Infant formula (IF) is submitted to several heat treatments during production, which can lead to denaturation or aggregation of proteins and promote Maillard reaction. The objective of this study was to investigate innovative minimal processing routes for the production of first-age IF powder, thus ensuring microbial safety with minimal level of protein denaturation. Three nutritionally complete IF powders were produced at a semi-industrial scale based on ingredients obtained by fresh bovine milk microfiltration (0.8 and 0.1-µm pore size membranes). Low-temperature vacuum evaporation (50°C) and spray-drying (inlet and outlet temperatures of 160 and 70°C, respectively) were conducted to produce the T? formula with no additional heat treatment. The T+ formula was produced with a moderate heat treatment (75°C for 2 min) applied before spray-drying, whereas the T+++ formula received successive heat treatments (72°C for 30 s on the milk; 90°C for 2–3 s before evaporation; 85°C for 2 min before spray-drying), thus mimicking commercial powdered IF. Protein denaturation and Maillard reaction products were followed throughout the production steps and the physicochemical properties of the powders were characterized. The 3 IF powders presented satisfactory physical properties in terms of aw, free fat content, glass transition temperature, and solubility index, as well as satisfactory bacteriological quality with a total flora <103 cfu/g and an absence of pathogens when a high level of bacteriological quality of the ingredients was ensured. Protein denaturation occurred mostly during the heat treatments of T+ and T+++ and was limited during the spray-drying process. The IF powder produced without heat treatment (T-) presented a protein denaturation extent (6 ± 4%) significantly lower than that in T+++ (58 ± 0%), but not significantly different from that in T+ (10 ± 4%). Although T? tended to contain less Maillard reaction products than T+ and T+++, the Maillard reaction products did not significantly discriminate the infant formulas in the frame of this work. The present study demonstrated the feasibility of producing at a semi-industrial scale an infant formula being bacteriologically safe and containing a high content of native proteins. Application of a moderate heat treatment before spray-drying could further guarantee the microbiological quality of the IF powders while maintaining a low protein denaturation extent. This study opens up new avenues for the production of minimally processed IF powders.  相似文献

Phase unwrapping is a key procedure in interferometric synthetic aperture radar studies, translating ambiguous phase observations to topography, and surface deformation estimates. Some unwrapping algorithms are conducted along specific paths based on different selection criteria. In this study, we analyze six unwrapping paths: line scan, maximum coherence, phase derivative variance, phase derivative variance with branch-cut, second-derivative reliability, and the Fisher distance. The latter is a new path algorithm based on Fisher information theory, which combines the phase derivative with the expected variance to get a more robust path, potentially performing better than others in the case of low image quality. In order to compare only the performance of the paths, the same unwrapping function (phase derivative integral) is used. Results indicate that the Fisher distance algorithm gives better results in most cases.  相似文献

We present the characteristics of a planar source of wideband shortwave radiation pumped by transverse RF (f=1.76 MHz) discharge in a Kr/Xe/Cl2 mixture (P≤500 Pa). The spectral characteristics of the plasma emission were studied in the wavelength interval of 130–600 nm. The oscillograms of the voltage, current, and output radiation intensity and the diagrams of the output power depending on the gas pressure, partial composition of the working gas mixture, and discharge power are presented. It is established that the source produces emission predominantly in the spectral interval of 170–330 nm, representing a system of the molecular emission bands XeCl(D, B-X), KrCl(B-X), Cl2(D′-A′), and Cl2**. For a maximum output power in the UV-VUV range, the optimum working gas mixture is Kr/Xe/Cl2 with the partial pressures P(Kr)/P(Xe)/P(Cl2)=150–200/150–200/20–40 Pa. The maximum power irradiated within a solid angle of 4π via two output holes with a total area of S≤ 100 cm2 reaches 30–40 W. In the region of a threshold with respect to the transverse discharge initiation, there are narrow peaks of plasma emission that are probably related to the jumps in the density of electrons and the positive and negative ions at the boundary between the plasma and the RF discharge layer.  相似文献

We present the working characteristics of a high-power UV-VUV electric-discharge lamp filled with a working mixture of helium and iodine vapor (He-I2) at a low pressure (0.1–1.5 kPa) and pumped by a dc glow discharge at a power of 15–200 W. The power of the total output UV radiation and the main emission peak at λ = 206.2 nm were studied as dependent on the electric power supplied to the glow discharge and on the partial pressure of helium in the He-I2 mixture. The emission characteristics of the glow discharge plasma were studied in the spectral range from 200 to 350 nm. In this range, the lamp is operating predominantly on a resonance emission line of excited iodine atoms (λ = 206.2 nm, FWHM = 0.10–0.12 nm) and on a system of electronic-vibrational bands of excited iodine molecules with the main peak at λ = 342 nm. The contribution of the resonance emission due to excited iodine atoms to the total UV emission from the glow discharge plasma does not exceed 50%. The optimum partial pressure of helium is within 400–800 Pa. The total UV radiation power of the lamp operating in the optimum regime reaches 25 W at an efficiency of η ≤15%.  相似文献

This paper describes specific Cu2+-catalyzed oxidative cleavage of alpha and beta subunits of Na,K-ATPase at the extracellular surface. Incubation of right side-out renal microsomal vesicles with Cu2+ ions, ascorbate, and H2O2 produces two major cleavages of the alpha subunit within the extracellular loop between trans-membrane segments M7 and M8 and L7/8. Minor cleavages are also detected in loops L9/10 and L5/6. In the beta subunit two cleavages are detected, one before the first S-S bridge and the other between the second and third S-S bridges. Na,K-ATPase and Rb+ occlusion are inactivated after incubation with Cu2+/ascorbate/H2O2. These observations are suggestive of a site-specific mechanism involving cleavage of peptide bonds close to a bound Cu2+ ion. This mechanism allows several inferences on subunit interactions and spatial organization. The two cleavage sites in L7/8 of the alpha subunit and two cleavage sites of the beta subunit identify interacting segments of the subunits. L7/8 is also close to L9/10 and to cation occlusion sites. Comparison of the locations of Cu2+-catalyzed cleavages with Fe2+-catalyzed cleavages (Goldshleger, R., and Karlish, S. J. D. (1997) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U. S. A. 94, 9596-9601) suggests division of the membrane sector into two domains comprising M1-M6 and M7-M10/Mbeta, respectively.  相似文献

Felix 01 (F01) is a bacteriophage originally isolated by Felix and Callow which lyses almost all Salmonella strains and has been widely used as a diagnostic test for this genus. Molecular information about this phage is entirely lacking. In the present study, the DNA of the phage was found to be a double-stranded linear molecule of about 80 kb. 11.5 kb has been sequenced and in this region A + T content is 60%. There are relatively few restriction endonuclease cleavage sites in the native genome and clones show this is due to their absence rather than modification. A restriction map of the genome has been constructed. The ends of the molecule cannot be ligated although they contain 5' phosphates. At least 60% of the genome must encode proteins. In the sequenced portion, many open reading frames exist and these are tightly packed together. These have been examined for homology to published proteins but only 1 to 17 shows similarity to known proteins. F01 is therefore the prototype of a new phage family. On the basis of restriction sites, codon usage and the distribution of nonsense codons in the unused reading frames, a strong case can be made for natural selection that reacts to mRNA structure and function.  相似文献

The stereoselective interactions in aqueous solution between the crystal faces of centrosymmetric (R,S) serine 1 and additives resolved and racemic threonine 2 and allothreonine 3 were studied by four independent techniques: change in crystal habit on growth, anisotropic distribution of occluded additive during the crystal growth, etch pit formation on partial dissolution and atom-atom potential energy calculations. The effects of the two diastereomers 2 and 3 are radically different due to differences in adsorption: threonine is adsorbed on the {011} crystal faces; the (R) enantiomer is adsorbed at, and eventually occluded through the (011) and (011) crystal faces replacing an (R) serine molecule. By symmetry, (S) threonine is adsorbed and occluded through the enantiotopic (011) and (011) faces replacing (S) serine. In contrast, (R) and (S) allothreonine are both adsorbed primarily at the (100) and (100) faces. The results indicate that the serine moiety of adsorbed threonine and allothreonine assume the same conformation and position as the substrate molecule. The additive is adsorbed only at specific sites such that the Cβ-CH3 groups emerge from the crystal surface. The observed effects lead in the case of threonine, but not allothreonine, to the assignment of its absolute configuration.  相似文献

Peptide assemblies are ideal components for eco‐friendly optoelectronic energy harvesting devices due to their intrinsic biocompatibility, ease of fabrication, and flexible functionalization. However, to date, their practical applications have been limited due to the difficulty in obtaining stable, high‐performance devices. Here, it is shown that the tryptophan‐based simplest peptide cyclo‐glycine‐tryptophan (cyclo‐GW) forms mechanically robust (elastic modulus up to 24.0 GPa) and thermally stable up to 370 °C monoclinic crystals, due to a supramolecular packing combining dense parallel β‐sheet hydrogen bonding and herringbone edge‐to‐face aromatic interactions. The directional and extensive driving forces further confer unique optical properties, including aggregation‐induced blue emission and unusual stable photoluminescence. Moreover, the crystals produce a high and sustained open‐circuit voltage (1.2 V) due to a high piezoelectric coefficient of 14.1 pC N?1. These findings demonstrate the feasibility of utilizing self‐assembling peptides for fabrication of biointegrated microdevices that combine high structural stability, tailored optoelectronics, and significant energy harvesting properties.  相似文献
